Book Customization 4 0

Download or read book Customization 4 0 written by Stephan Hankammer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-20 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume presents the latest research from the worldwide mass customization & personalization (MCP) community bringing together new thoughts and results from various disciplines within the field. The chapters are based on papers from the MCPC 2017. The book showcases research and practice from authors that see MCP as an opportunity to extend or even revolutionize current business models. The current trends of Industrie 4.0, digital manufacturing, and the rise of smart products allow for a fresh perspective on MCP: Customization 4.0. The book places a new set of values in the centre of the debate: a world with finite resources, global population growth, and exacerbating climate change needs smart thinking to engage the most effective capabilities and resources. It discusses how Customization 4.0 fosters sustainable development and creates shared value for companies, customers, consumers, and the society as a whole. The chapters of this book are contributed by a wide range of specialists, offering cutting-edge research, as well as insightful advances in industrial practice in key areas. The MCPC 2017 has a strong focus on real life MCP applications, and this proceedings volume reflects this. MCP strategies aim to profit from the fact that people are different. Their objective is to turn customer heterogeneities into opportunities, hence addressing “long tail” business models. The objective of MCP is to provide goods and services that best serve individual customers’ needs with near mass production efficiency. This proceedings volume highlights the interdisciplinary work of thought leaders, technology developers, and researchers with corporate entrepreneurs putting these strategies into practice. Book Fashion Industry

Download or read book Fashion Industry written by Riccardo Beltramo and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-02-05 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fashion is a lot more than providing an answer to primary needs. It is a way of communication, of distinction, of proclaiming a unique taste and expressing the belonging to a group. Sometimes to an exclusive group. Currently, the fashion industry is moving towards hyperspace, to a multidimensional world that is springing from the integration of smart textiles and wearable technologies. It is far beyond aesthetics. New properties of smart textiles let designers experiment with astonishing forms and expressions. There are also surprising contrasts and challenges: a new life for natural fibers, sustainable fabrics and dyeing techniques, rediscovered by eco-fashion, and "artificial apparel," made of wearable electronic components. How is this revolution affecting the strategies of the fashion industry?

Book Unexpected Consequences

Download or read book Unexpected Consequences written by James William Martin and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, interrelationships between more than 40 recent catastrophic events are explored, discussing failures of structures and machines, information technology, regulatory agencies, security designs, and more. The world is full of wonderful products and services that occasionally disappoint and even harm us. Unexpected Consequences: Why The Things We Trust Fail explores the reasons these failures occur, examining them from technological, human, and organizational perspectives. Using more than 40 recent catastrophic events to illustrate its points, the book discusses structural and machine failure, but also the often-overlooked failure of people and of systems related to such things as information technology, healthcare, and security. As the book demonstrates, faulty technology played a surprisingly small part in many of the scrutinized disasters. Author James William Martin finds cognitive factors and organizational dynamics, including ethics, are major contributors to most unexpected and catastrophic failures causing loss of life and extensive property damage. With that fresh perspective in mind, Martin is able to suggest remedies that address service failure and just may help prevent future disasters from taking place.

Book Mass customization and consumer behavior A case study from a german consumer perspective

Download or read book Mass customization and consumer behavior A case study from a german consumer perspective written by Joscha Köllner and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2008-05-06 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2007 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1,3, Mid Sweden University, language: English, abstract: Mass customization is a research field which is already well established from a manufacturer viewpoint. Curiously, there is a marginal amount of research studies covering the consumers’ viewpoint and researchers argue that much more research is needed to understand the consumer behavior in terms of mass customization. From a consumers’ viewpoint mass customization can be seen as the production of goods for a relatively large market, which meets exactly the needs of each individual customer with regard to certain product characteristics (differentiation option), at costs roughly corresponding to those of standard mass-produced goods (cost option). The main purpose of this study was an investigation of relationships between the purchase of mass customized products and demographic and psychological influence factors. Therefore, the study gave an answer on the question whether German consumers had an interest in purchasing mass customized products and what demographic and psychological factors influence the tendency to purchase mass customized products. The reader should have got an impression of the topic of mass customization from a consumer perspective. Therefore the author surveyed 519 German consumers with the help of a self-administered online survey in order to investigate their attitudes toward mass customized products, their willingness to invest additional time and money for MCP and their perceived risk on customized products. The study was conducted on German respondents to discuss similarities and differences to previous studies on the US market as well as a comparison of the UK and Turkish market regarding consumer attitudes and readiness. This study offers practical insights for companies that want to address potential consumers of customized products and gives useful hints for determining suitable target groups for mass customized products.

Book Cross cultural Knowledge Management

Download or read book Cross cultural Knowledge Management written by Jacky Hong and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-09 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knowledge has become increasingly complex and important for organizations. Despite the growing recognition of the factors that enable knowledge management in organizations, our understanding about the unique cross-cultural challenges is rather limited. In particular, how cultural differences influence people’s participation in knowledge management activities still remains unclear. By conducting qualitative case studies and analytic hierarchical process (AHP) with multinational firms in Brazil and China, this book addresses the broader issue of cultural influences on knowledge management. Specific emphasis has been put on their indigenous cultural norms, including guanxi, face and jeitinho and the impacts they have on knowledge sharing. Drawing on an integrative knowledge management model, the results from AHP analysis reveal how some cultural-specific factors related to people, process and knowledge can affect the effectiveness of socialization, externalization and internalization processes in a production context. The book will be useful to both management academics and business practitioners. While academics will gain insight into the intricacies of knowledge sharing activities in production organizations, managers will find some useful conceptual tools to resolve the challenges of knowledge management in a cross-cultural context.
