Book A Western Christmas Carol 1895

Download or read book A Western Christmas Carol 1895 written by Michael W Burger and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-14 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Story of Ebenezer Scrooge and The Christmas Carol has been a mainstay of Fiction writers for 177 years. Charles Dicken wrote this novel in 1843, and every Christmas time, I am inspired to watch movies made to commemorate this genius's story, in one way or another. It's based on a very stingy miser that mistreats the townsfolk, taking their last shilling or precious family trinkets or gold to fill his pockets. All because he is the richest man in town and holds their very lives in his hand with mortgage payments or personal loans over their heads. I have already written one short story of another version of this famous tale called "Horus Scrooge" but wished to try another version. This story will not be set in London as most are, but in the old Western town of Tombstone, Arizona, around 1895. I hope you enjoy this fictional Christmas story. It's about a 68-year-old man named Edward Sneezer Stooge. A man born in Salem, Massachusetts but made his fortune in the Arizona mining companies and was so rich and stingy that he took advantage of Tombstone's homesteaders and townfolk. Even though the story seems depressing at first, the situation will turn into a humorous effort. This my second rendition of "The Christmas Carol."

Book excerpt: Who knew that Paul McCartney originally referred to Yesterday as 'Scrambled Eggs' because he couldn't think of any lyrics for his heart-breaking tune? Or that Patti LaBelle didn't know what 'Voulez-vous couches avec moi ce soir?' actually meant? These and countless other fascinating back stories of some of our best-known and best-loved songs fill this book, a collection of the highly successful weekly The Life of a Song columns that appear in the FT Weekend every Saturday. Each 600-word piece gives a mini-biography of a single song, from its earliest form (often a spiritual, or a jazz number), through the various covers and changes, often morphing from one genre to another, always focusing on the 'biography' of the song itself while including the many famous artists who have performed or recorded it. The selection covers a wide spectrum of the songs we all know and love - rock, pop, folk, jazz and more. Each piece is pithy, sparkily written, knowledgeable, entertaining, full of anecdotes and surprises. They combine deep musical knowledge with the vivid background of the performers and musicians, and of course the often intriguing social and political background against which the songs were created.
