Book Applied Gamma Ray Spectrometry

Download or read book Applied Gamma Ray Spectrometry written by C. E. Crouthamel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 776 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applied Gamma-Ray Spectrometry covers real life application of the gamma-ray and the devices used in their experimental studies. This book is organized into 9 chapters, and starts with discussions of the various decay processes, the possible interaction mechanisms of gamma radiation with matter, and the intrinsic and extrinsic variables, which affect the observed gamma-ray and X-ray spectra. The subsequent chapters deal with the properties and fabrication of scintillation detectors, semiconductor detectors, and proportional gas counters. These chapters present some of the most widely utilized applications of these detectors, with a particular emphasis to the activation analysis. These topics are followed by reviews of the description of basic equipment, such as amplifiers, analyzers, special spectrometer arrangements, and detector shielding. Other chapters describe energy and time resolution and quantitative calibration. The quantitative and qualitative interpretation of the spectra is also explained, along with the calibration of the detectors. The last chapter considers the analytical applications of gamma-ray and X-ray spectrometry in tracer studies, activation analysis, fission product studies, and X-ray fluorescence analysis. This book will be of value to analytical chemists and analytical chemistry researchers.

Book Construction and Calibration of an Anti compton Spectrometer

Download or read book Construction and Calibration of an Anti compton Spectrometer written by Joseph A. Muscari and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By suppressing the Compton response the anti-Compton spectrometer emphasizes the photopeak without sacrificing resolution. The detector's response matrix is experimentally determined with five monoenergetic gamma ray sources. By interpolating between these known energies and extrapolating from these measured shapes the response to gamma rays within the range 230 Kev to 1460 Kev is found. Applying the inverse response matrix to several line spectra unfolds the pulse height spectra.

Book Routine Testing and Calibration Procedures for Multichannel Pulse Analyzers and Gamma ray Spectrometers

Download or read book Routine Testing and Calibration Procedures for Multichannel Pulse Analyzers and Gamma ray Spectrometers written by D. F. Crouch and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Procedures for the routine calibration of gamma-ray scintillation spectrometers and multichannel pulse-height analyzers are presented. A scintillation spectrometer, designed for use of recently developed computer data processing techniques, is described. The performance specifications required of all electronic components in this application, particularly the performance specifications for multi-channel pulse-height analyzers, are treated; and simple tests are described for determining the performance specifications of an analyzer.
