Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zetel, a soul in Heaven, is fed up with waiting to be assigned a mortal body, so he decides to escape. The Almighty is not pleased at this, and orders his angels to retrieve him, but Zetel infuses the body of a premature baby— the son of a Jewish couple fleeing Nazi Germany in 1935. Unlike other souls, Zetel can remember and describe his origins and the celestial beings he knew, which alarms his parents, teachers, and family, who worry about his wild imagination. When the Almighty’s angels hatch plots to recover him, he forms an alliance with the Devil and eventually grows up, marries, and has a successful career. However, with repeated attempts on his life, the tension mounts as the angels try to outwit Zetel and return him to the bonds of Heaven. Intelligent, ambitious and laugh-out loud-funny, Zetel: Biography of a Soul tells the satirical story of a rebel soul while juxtaposing the tragic events of World War II and the struggle of a Jewish family against the frivolous machinations of Heaven's forces.

With a hideous appearance and unquenchable hunger, they are kept out of sight until they are Chosen. Long ago, the residents of Malm placed their faith in the Office of Souls to lead them and keep them safe after the human race was almost destroyed in the time known only as "Before". But someone long forgotten has other plans, and that means unleashing unspeakable evil into their world. Soul Implantation Day 3675 starts out like any other, and follows the paths of six people who are destined to meet in the courtyard of the Fountain of Souls. They bear witness to a soul implantation ceremony gone terribly awry. Not all of them will survive, and some will suffer a fate far worse than death. *This novella was previously released under the title "The Soul Garden".* Twisted Souls (Twisted Souls #2) The epic collision of good and evil that began in The Soul Ripper (Twisted Souls #1) continues in Twisted Souls (Twisted Souls #2), the second installment of Cege Smith's Twisted Soul series... The survivors of Soul Implantation Day 3675 went into hiding as the rest of the Territory of Malm was ravaged by an old foe hell-bent on total domination of their world. As the focus settles on the last untouched outpost of humanity, Samuel, the new Head Master of the nearly annihilated Office of Souls, knows that something must be done in order to bring the human race back from the brink of total extinction. Samuel's secret weapon is Cameron, the last recipient of a soul from the Fountain of Souls. Cameron's destiny has set her on a path to face down the ultimate evil and hopefully save mankind. Time is against them as the survivors discover that nowhere is safe from their enemy's reach, and they must rejoin the outside world and fight before it is too late. Soul Cycle (Twisted Souls #3) The line between good and evil blurs even further in Soul Cycle (Twisted Souls #3), the third installment of the Twisted Souls saga... Cameron, Samuel, and Malcolm survived the trap in the Office of Souls compound. Their goal is to reach Outpost Alanstown where they know they will have to confront their enemy. But as their journey begins, an encounter with a group of bloodthirsty Soulless Ones separates the group on the outskirts of West End, the capital city of the Territory of Malm. In the meantime, in Outpost Alanstown, Chim retrieves Marius from the edges of madness. Marius finds himself in the difficult position of helping Chim in order to help himself. What no one knows is that someone has been behind the scenes pulling the strings like a skilled puppet master, and that person is someone they never expected. Answers from the past must be found before Cameron and Samuel's true destinies can be revealed. The journey to the final battle is coming, but who will be there still remains a mystery. A Soul to Settle (Twisted Souls #4) A new evil rises as Samuel and Cameron race toward to Outpost Alanstown in the thrilling conclusion of the Twisted Souls series... Facing a moral dilemma, Samuel realizes that everything he believed was right is wrong. He is confronted with the devastating truth that to save the Territory of Malm, he must first remove the stain of the treacherous legacy of the one who ruled before him. Cameron teeters on the cusp of discovering her purpose. She's been a pawn in a game of control that spans since the time of Before. How that impacts her role in the upcoming battle between good and evil remains shrouded in mystery. In Outpost Alanstown, Marius has embraced the darker side of his nature. Conscience be damned, he finds a reason to stand against Cameron and Samuel when they come because he can't see any alternative. The time for the final battle has arrived.

In her own words, Mary Magdalene imparts her knowledge on how to deepen the practice of spiritual advancement through 30 sacred teachings. The culmination of these teachings speaks to two planes of realization: how to personally experience the divine within, and also how to raise our souls consciousness while performing our earthly tasks. This book was woven from the authors direct experience when she agreed to follow Magdalenes step by step instructions on what turned out to be a miraculous four week journey that led to realizing her own true nature. Now Magdalene teaches us all how to connect to Source, master our minds, enter into sacred relationships, and much more. This volume was created both as a companion to the book, A Guide for Advancing Your Soul and is also designed as a stand-alone for those who desire only Magdalenes words that were captured within her teachings.

Book Soul Matters

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mabel Aghadiuno
  • Publisher : Radcliffe Publishing
  • Release : 2010
  • ISBN : 1846191661
  • Pages : 193 pages

Download or read book Soul Matters written by Mabel Aghadiuno and published by Radcliffe Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, many have come to believe that Western medicine has lost contact with 'holistic' conceptions of health as encompassing physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual dimensions. 'Spiritual' may imply religious or faith-based values or experience, but also non-material factors such as an appreciation of natural beauty, art, music, moral values or beliefs from which a person draws meaning and a sense of transcendence. Equally, many people are unaware of a spiritual dimension to life and health until illness or trauma strikes. However, coming to terms with life events, deriving meaning from them and incorporating them into their life philosophy may then be experienced as a deep spiritual crisis, with ramifications in their wider health, and implications for the health professionals who treat them. This book considers the meaning of holistic health care, and explores the spiritual dimension of health through the narratives of fictional and non-fictional patients. It discusses how to discern when a patient's distress has a spiritual dimension, the implications of this for health professionals, and ways in which spiritual factors can be addressed and discussed within healthcare. 'When it comes to questions about meaning and purpose, such as what is the point of all this?A", or why is this happening to me?A", when we meet patients in the depths of despair at the prospect of imminent death, when we ourselves feel hopeless and overwhelmed in the face of an avalanche of human suffering, then we begin to struggle. We do not know what we could do, nor even what we should do. Our professional training doesn't help. We are stuck. With this beautiful book, Mabel Aghadiuno comes to our rescue.' - Christopher Dowrick in his Foreword

Book Postmodern Love in the Contemporary Jewish Imagination

Download or read book Postmodern Love in the Contemporary Jewish Imagination written by Efraim Sicher and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-03-17 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offering a radical critique of contemporary Israeli and diaspora fiction by major writers of the generation after Amos Oz and Philip Roth, this book asks searching questions about identity formation in Jewish spaces in the twenty-first century and posits global, transnational identities instead of the bipolar Israel/diaspora model. The chapters put into conversation major authors such as Jonathan Safran Foer, Nicole Krauss, Michael Chabon, and Nathan Englander with their Israeli counterparts Zeruya Shalev, Eshkol Nevo, and Etgar Keret and shows that they share common themes and concerns. Read through a postmodern lens, their preoccupation with failed marriage and failed ideals brings to the fore the crises of home, nation, historical destiny, and collective memory in contemporary secular Jewish culture. At times provocative, at others iconoclastic, this innovative study must be read by anyone concerned with Jewish culture and identity today, whether scholars, students, or the general reader.

Book Spiritual Direction As a Medical Art in Early Christian Monasticism

Download or read book Spiritual Direction As a Medical Art in Early Christian Monasticism written by JONATHAN L. ZECHER and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-10-06 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What expectations did the women and men living in early monastic communities carry into relationships of obedience and advice? What did they hope to achieve through confession and discipline? To explore these questions, this study shows how several early Christian writers applied the logic, knowledge, and practices of Galenic medicine to develop their own practices of spiritual direction. Evagrius reads dream images as diagnostic indicators of the soul's state. John Cassian crafts a nosology of the soul using lists of passions while diagnosing the causes of wet dreams. Basil of Caesarea pits the spiritual director against the physician in a competition over diagnostic expertise. John Climacus crafts pathologies of passions through demonic family trees, while equipping his spiritual director with a physician's toolkit and imagining the monastic space as a vast clinic. These different appropriations of medical logic and metaphors not only show us the thought-world of late antique monasticism, but they would also have decisive consequences for generations of Christian subjects who would learn to see themselves as sick or well, patients or healers, within monastic communities.

Book Eternal Shadows or Shadow Makers

Download or read book Eternal Shadows or Shadow Makers written by Fr. Steve Peterson OSJ and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everything in our solar system casts a shadow. The Earth, the moon, and the planets cast a shadow. The only thing that does not cast a shadow is the sun. The sun shines its light on one half of the planets, while the other half is in the shade of its own shadow. All living and non-living things expose only half of themselves to the light of the sun. Their other half remains in its shadow. Plants and animals are born with a shadow, live with a shadow, and must die with a shadow. Man is born with a shadow; however, he does not have to live and die with a shadow like the rest of the living creatures. He can choose to stay confined within the shadows of earthly things or go beyond the shadows to become something like the sun. But this quest takes a little something extra than most ordinary men seem to look for or even believe is possible to achieve. Early on in childhood, Fr. Peterson wanted to fly. Little did he know that his innocent desire to fly was an extraordinary, shadowless thing called prayer. A real and very extraordinary ear heard his plea. So God s heart, the only one in nature who produces no shadow, was moved to help show him how to go beyond the shadows of worldly things, frightful things, and even deadly things.

Download or read book Satan Exposed written by William P. Payne and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spiritual warfare is not a church fad. Rather, it is the rediscovery of biblical Christianity. Furthermore, one will not grasp what the Bible teaches until one comprehends what it affirms about spiritual warfare. In truth, spiritual warfare permeates the entire Bible. When one learns to read the Scriptures through the lens of spiritual warfare, one will discern the mission of God, understand the kingdom of God, and be able to participate in the work of God. As a professional theologian, seminary professor, and spiritual warfare practitioner, Bill Payne believes that the church will not make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18–20) until it operationalizes what the Bible teaches about spiritual warfare. As it orients the reader to the spiritual warfare mandate, Satan Exposed tackles the difficult passages of Scripture. In short, this book will change how you read the Bible, how you understand reality, and how you do ministry.
