It is a characteristic of Holy Spirit times that many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased. We rejoice to be one of the runners. May the knowledge of freedom from sin be increased until the last laboring child of the kingdom shall be free indeed! Toward this consummation may. Book excerpt: Thanks to Jesus, salvation is now available for all, by grace. The question of the day is "Who receives God's mercy and grace, and why?" Beyond how we receive salvation, we might also ask "What is salvation, and when do we receive it?" Good questions deserve good answers. Among the denominations you will find many different and conflicting answers to those questions. It is entirely reasonable to suspect that many-perhaps most-of those answers are wrong. The Common Sense Gospel steps outside denominational boundaries; it takes a fresh, clean scriptural look at salvation as presented in the Bible. Here you will see that justification and salvation are not the same: they are different things, at different times. Every professing Christian needs to understand the difference. We will also look at other relevant and interrelated doctrines including: What did Jesus finish on the cross? What happens when we die? Is there everlasting, conscious torment in a fiery hell? What about the immortal soul? What does it mean to be born again? What is repentance? What is faith and what does it mean to believe? What does "works" mean, in different contexts? When do we have eternal security: once saved, always saved? Is it possible to lose salvation? Does God have a plan? What does God want? Perhaps it seems bold to try to answer all these questions in one book. If you are curious and open-minded then please be bold, and read. Herein you will find answers to these questions. After all, we should be able to "connect the dots" of doctrine-and arrive at a harmonious, complete and common-sense understanding of the gospel. Agreed? George Burdick

Book Common Sense and the Bible

Download or read book Common Sense and the Bible written by Arthur Thornton and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-04-21 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author feels that there is a strong need today in this world of turbulence and uncertainty for people to have something they can believe in, for them to know that God has a place and that everyone is in it. For this reason, this and future books are being written so they can know their future is assured. The author has found in speaking with many people that only a few people really have any knowledge of God. With this in mind, he decided to write a book that brought out the character of God and all his good qualities. God is a real spiritual being with a personality just like we have; remember, we were made in his image. If people understood God, they would like him, not fear him. He has plans just like you and I have, but his plans will not fail. He has nothing but good planned for us, just like our plans for our children or those close to us. In writing this book, he has endeavored to bring out his true character and give people a better understanding of who God really is. With this in mind, he has other books planned for the future, such as books on Jesus, the ending of the Gospel Age, times of trouble, the millennium, Israel, the Bible, the Great Pyramid, doctrines, and the church.

Book excerpt: Many people do not seek a relationship with God, because they find Religion to include illogical "laws" and contradicting customs. Leaps of faith require strong foundation. Jesus said that he did not find so great a faith in Jerusalem as that of a certain Roman centurion. Come with me to realize this was not because the centurion was religious, but because he understood authority and recognized it in Jesus. The keyword is "understood." This book is a burning human endeavor to spread a primary level, or layman's "logical" understanding of God, the universe, human nature, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit. Based on the truth "GOD LOVES YOU as much as GOD LOVES GOD." It is "How to have a relationship with God based on common sense"

Book The Common Sense of Christianity

Download or read book The Common Sense of Christianity written by Cline Calhoun and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-04-24 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is unlikely to ever appear on retail book shelves. Why? Because it was not written to be politically correct, which seems to be the language of the times. In todays world, writers attempt to phrase everything so as not to offend any particular group of people, instead, bury their thoughts on countless pages of writings with endless ramblings involving meaningless adverbs and adjectives. This book is not meant to compete with religious leaders and scholars who have devoted their lives to advancing their own religious beliefs by interpreting and translating Hebrew and Greek languages in such a way as to support a particular religious group. It is the desire of the author of this book to provide a no-frills, common sense approach to understanding the simple steps required to become a Christian and living a Christian lifestyle as outlined in Gods Holy Word. Without trials in our lives, without stumbling blocks and adversities to overcome, we can never expect to mature and grow. We all face daily battles as we travel this road of life, however, religious confusion does not have to be one of them. From the battles of child abuse, a dysfunctional home life and alcoholism, to the battles of Viet Nam and the never ending struggle to find meaning in life and a relationship with God, Cline has fought them all and has come to understand that only through common sense and the strength of God can we prevail if we only follow His simple guidelines.

Book God Is the Gospel

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Piper
  • Publisher : Crossway
  • Release : 2005-09-08
  • ISBN : 1433518414
  • Pages : 192 pages

Download or read book God Is the Gospel written by John Piper and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2005-09-08 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 This book is a cry from the heart of John Piper. He is pleading that God himself, as revealed in Christ's death and resurrection, is the ultimate and greatest gift of the gospel. None of Christ's gospel deeds and none of our gospel blessings are good news except as means of seeing and savoring the glory of Christ. Forgiveness is good news because it opens the way to the enjoyment of God himself. Justification is good news because it wins access to the presence and pleasures of God himself. Eternal life is good news because it becomes the everlasting enjoyment of Christ. All God's gifts are loving only to the degree that they lead us to God himself. That is what God's love is: his commitment to do everything necessary (most painfully the death of his only Son) to enthrall us with what is most deeply and durably satisfying-namely, himself. Saturated with Scripture, centered on the cross, and seriously joyful, this book leads us to satisfaction for the deep hungers of the soul. It touches us at the root of life where practical transformation gets its daily power. It awakens our longing for Christ and opens our eyes to his beauty. Piper writes for the soul-thirsty who have turned away empty and in desperation from the mirage of methodology. He invites us to slow down and drink from a deeper spring. "This is eternal life," Jesus said, "that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." This is what makes the gospel-and this book-good news.

Book The Doctrine of Salvation A Beginner s Guide to Understanding Biblical Theology What Does Biblical Salvation Really Mean

Download or read book The Doctrine of Salvation A Beginner s Guide to Understanding Biblical Theology What Does Biblical Salvation Really Mean written by Michael Southard and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-01-25 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever just wanted to sit down and read something about God or Jesus just to get closer to him to know him more intimately or to expand your understanding of his creation and plan for you? So you find a book that advertises just the subject matter you are interested in, then you open it and begin to read, but before long, you realize you have to run and get the dictionary. Then you may have to purchase a dictionary of theology, then maybe an encyclopedia of Christian apologetics just to understand what you are reading. When this happens, readers often give up on the book and never finish it and may never buy another one. It can get discouraging when confronted with terminology like infralapsarianism, hamartiology, and demythologization, and that doesn't include the hundreds of nontheological words rarely used in common communication today. Authors write this way to keep the book from becoming the size of an encyclopedia. However, I did buy all those books and persevered in study because of my great hunger for the deeper things of God. Now you can too because this book conveys these wonderful biblical thoughts and great theologians' writings into plain common language. The Doctrine of Salvation takes deep theological concepts and brings their understanding down to a street level as it were. This book describes on a practical level how these doctrines are to be applied to our lives and how we can relate them to others. I refrain from using thirteen-letter words, but if they are needed, I will use them and then immediately clarify their meaning so the reader will not lose their train of thought. Enjoy reading about the wonders of God again, in greater depth!

Book Common Sense Apologetics

Download or read book Common Sense Apologetics written by Dave Abell and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2010-10-18 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While atheists and religious liberals purport themselves to be enlightened intellectuals, what we find, upon deeper exploration, is that their intellectualism is simply a facade. Conversely, many believers are unable to defend their faith and shrink back when confronted with tough questions, particularly those concerning Jesus being the only way to Heaven. Whether out of fear, lack of knowledge, or a spirit of compromise, the ability to express the idea of one true Holy Book, and one true way to Heaven, seems to escape far too many Christians. Common Sense Apologetics will inspire Christians to drop this spirit of timidity, while gaining confidence and loving boldness when sharing the faith. Foundational, is the fact that God has not called Christians to believe what is not believable nor defend what is indefensible. The evidence for Gods existence and the truth of His Word is abundant and accessible. Christians have Biblical directives to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and lovingly contend for the faith when it is perverted from within and attacked from without. This book is uniquely constructed to present a practical approach to learning why the Christian faith is true, and a better method for defending that truth.
