He married Susannah Hardey, daughter of George Hardey and Priscilla Jenkins, on 24 Sep 1815. They had ten children. Susannah died on 16 July 1864 and Samuel died 3 Dec 1866. Their children and descendants have lived in Maryland, District of Columbia, South Carolina, Florida, and other areas in the United States.

Some entries also include date of marriage; a few entries consist of name only.
