In 1988 Brother Lee spoke fifty-six messages that were published in the Life-study of Leviticus. These Life-study messages are not included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. Brother Lee remained in Irving, Texas, during the first part of January 1988. He returned to Anaheim, California, in the middle of January and again traveled to Irving in February, where he remained until the first part of March. From then until the third week in March he visited Seattle, Washington; Vancouver, Canada; and Berkeley and San Jose, California. In the last week of March Brother Lee visited Spokane, Washington, and San Francisco, California, before he returned to Anaheim. In the first few days of April he visited San Jose for two days, and in the second week of April he flew to Taipei, Taiwan, and remained there until early June. He returned to Anaheim and remained there through the third week of July. In the remaining days of July he visited a number of cities in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Berkeley, Hayward, San Jose, Los Altos, and San Francisco, California. In early August he visited Spokane, and at the end of August he visited Seattle. In the last few days of August he visited Alhambra, California, and in September he traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, and Atlanta, Georgia. In early October Brother Lee visited Taipei for one month before traveling to Seoul, South Korea, and then back to Taipei, where he remained until the middle of November. He then returned to Anaheim and remained there until the middle of December. During his time in Anaheim he also ministered in Pasadena, San Gabriel, and Monterey Park, California. In mid-December he traveled to Irving and remained there through the early days of January 1989. The contents of this volume are divided into fourteen sections, as follows: 1. A message given in Irving, Texas, on January 3, 1988. This message is included in this volume under the title The New Way for the Lord's Recovery. 2. Six messages given in Chinese in Anaheim, California, on January 15 through 31. The first period is the three months from January through March, during which Brother Lee was in Manila, Philippines, in January and returned to Taipei, Taiwan, via Hong Kong in February. He then conducted three conferences and a few co-workers' meetings in March. The second period consists of the next six months, from the beginning of April through mid October. During this period Brother Lee traveled around the world, passing through Tokyo, Osaka, and Shenyu in Japan (April 8 through 22); Honolulu, San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Toronto in the United States and Canada (April 23 through August 1); London, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Zurich, Geneva, Rome, and Athens in Europe (August 2 through September 21); Beirut, Jerusalem, and Tehran in the Middle East (September 22 through 28); Karachi, Rangoon (now Yangon), and Bangkok in South and Southeast Asia (September 29 through October 3); and Hong Kong (October 4 through 15) before returning to Taiwan on October 16. The third period consists of the last three months in Taiwan, during which time he conducted various conferences. For the first period we have records of Brother Lee's meeting with district responsible ones in Hong Kong on February 12. The three conferences that Brother Lee conducted in Taiwan in March were on the subject of enjoying God. This is the first time that Brother Lee released the light concerning this subject. In addition to the three conferences, Brother Lee conducted a number of meetings with serving ones on March 4 through 8. He also gave a series of messages on reading the Bible and another series of messages on the vision of the tree of life. The messages given during this period are included in volume 1 of this set. For the second period we have records of Brother Lee's speaking in Tokyo in April in a conference on enjoying God and records of a few private talks. There are two records of his speaking in New York and four records of his speaking in Denmark. In addition, he wrote long letters that reveal some of the meetings that took place during his trip. These letters are published in Church News in volume 1 of this set. After his visits to the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, he returned to Hong Kong in October. There he held two weeks of conferences on God's building. In the third period, upon returning to Taiwan in October, Brother Lee conducted a conference on God's building, with meetings in both the morning and the evening. In addition, he conducted various meetings with serving ones. After the conference, on Mondays and Wednesdays he gave additional messages on the subject of God's building. Almost all the messages given in the second and third periods of 1958 are included in volume 2 of this set. Some of his speaking in October and November is included in volume 1 in the section entitled The Perfecting of the Saints and the Building Up of the House of God. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1958, volume 1, contains messages, personal letters, and reports by Brother Witness Lee from February through December 1958. Historical information concerning Brother Lee's travels and the content of his ministry in 1958 can be found in the general preface that appears at the beginning of this volume. The contents of this volume are divided into seven sections, as follows: 1. A message given in Hong Kong on February 12. This message is included in this section under the title Building and Perfecting. 2. A short speaking in an unknown location in February or March. This speaking is included in this volume under the title "The Son of Man." 3. Ten messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in March. Book excerpt: Our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant, ministers not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Corinthians 3:5-6) Second Corinthians may be considered as an autobiography of the Apostle Paul. In it we see a portrait of a person who lived in the Spirit. For us to enjoy and experience Christ in a rich way we must be persons in the Spirit as symbolized by ten aspects in 2 Corinthians—captives, letters, mirrors, vessels, ambassadors, co-workers, a temple, a virgin, lovers of the church, and tasters of Christ. It is by all of these aspects that we can be thoroughly wrought by God and with God and be constituted the ministers of the new covenant for the building up of the church.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From January until March 1955, Brother Witness Lee remained in Taipei, Taiwan, to continue a series of Bible studies that he began the previous year. These studies were on the books of the New Testament from Matthew through Revelation. They are included in volume 1 of this set. After he completed this series, he traveled to the Philippines, where he remained until August. There he conducted another Bible study on the books from Matthew through Acts and gave messages on several chapters of 1 and 2 Peter. He also gave messages on a number of topics, including how to be useful to the Lord, the living and principles of the kingdom people, reward and punishment, the way for a Christian to mature in life, and the central work of God and the proper spiritual experiences. These messages are included in volumes 2 and 3 of this set. In September he traveled to Hong Kong and remained there until the end of December. During this time he conducted another Bible study on the New Testament from Romans through Colossians, perhaps as a continuation of the Bible study that he had conducted in the Philippines. He also gave a series of messages on the mingling of God and man and the principle of resurrection, another series of further talks on the knowledge of life, a training on how to conduct meetings, as well as messages on other topics. During his visit to Hong Kong, saints from Southeast Asia came and joined the meetings. As a result, he had some times of fellowship with these saints. Brother Lee's speaking in Hong Kong is included in volume 4 of this set. At the end of November, T. Austin-Sparks visited the Far East for the first time and held meetings first in Hong Kong and then in Taiwan. Brother Lee remained with Brother Austin-Sparks during his entire visit. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1955, volume 1, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee in 1955. Historical information concerning Brother Lee's travels and the content of his ministry in 1955 can be found in the general preface that appears at the beginning of this volume. The contents of this volume are divided into three sections, as follows: 1. One article that was published in the hardbound edition of The Ministry of the Word in 1955. This article is included in this volume under the title The Ministry of the Word, Miscellaneous Messages, 1955. 2. Four messages that were originally published by the Taiwan Gospel Book Room in August in Twelve Baskets Full, volumes 8, 9, and 12. These messages are included in this volume under the title Miscellaneous Messages from Twelve Baskets Full. 3. Forty-two messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on January 12 through March 5. These messages are included in this volume under the title A Study of the New Testament in the Light of Christ as Life.

Brother Lee remained in Los Angeles until the end of January, after which he visited Dallas, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; and Orlando and Miami, Florida, on his way to Sao Paulo, Brazil. He returned to Los Angeles in late February. There is no record of his speaking in the cities outside Los Angeles. In the middle of March Brother Lee traveled to the eastern part of the United States, visiting Lubbock, Texas; Greensboro and High Point, North Carolina; Birmingham, Alabama; New York City and Buffalo, New York; Toronto, Canada; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mansfield and Cleveland, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Indianapolis, Indiana, before returning to Los Angeles in the middle of May. During this same trip he might also have visited Boston, Massachusetts; Montreal and Ottawa, Canada; and Louisville, Kentucky. The only record of Brother Lee's speaking on this trip was in High Point and New York City. At the end of May Brother Lee visited Dinuba, California, for two days and returned to spend the next week in Los Angeles. In the middle of June he traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada; San Francisco, California; and Corvallis, Oregon, before returning to Los Angeles, where he remained until the end of July. There is no record of his speaking in Las Vegas or Corvallis. From late July through the middle of November Brother Lee visited the Far East. From July 25 through August 22 he was in Taiwan, where he was joined by over one hundred forty brothers and sisters from the United States and Canada, along with some saints from Brazil, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Denmark, and West Germany. During those days he ministered in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. The contents of this volume are divided into eight sections, as follows: 1. Twenty-three messages given in Los Angeles, California, from January 1 through July 7. These messages are included in this volume under the title Various Messages in Los Angeles. Two pairs of messages were combined. 2. One message given in High Point, North Carolina, on March 24. This message is included in this volume under the title Message Givenin High Point, North Carolina. 3. Four messages given in New York City on March 30 and 31. They are included in this volume under the title Various Meetings in New York. 4. Four messages given in Dinuba, California, on May 29 and 30. These messages are included in this volume under the title Knowing and Experiencing Christ as the Spirit by Exercising Our Spirit. 5. Four messages given in San Francisco, California, from June 14 through 16. They are included in this volume under the title Life Principles for the Proper Practice of the Church Life. 6. Ten messages given in Los Angeles, California, on July 4 through 7. They are published in this volume under the title Christ in the Stage of the Spirit in the New Testament. 7. Twenty-four messages given in Los Angeles, California, on July 9 through 19. These messages were previously published as a twenty-two-chapter book under the title The Practical Expression of the Church. 8. Thirteen messages given in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, from July 26 through August 3. The first ten messages, given in Taipei, were previously published as a standalone book in Chinese under the title Turning the Age and Living in the Spirit. These ten messages are included in this volume, together with the three messages given in Taichung and Kaohsiung, under the same title.
