Book A Guide to Fire and Gas Detection Design in Hazardous Industries

Download or read book A Guide to Fire and Gas Detection Design in Hazardous Industries written by James McNay and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-08-10 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last 15 years, the field of fire and gas mapping has grown extensively, yet very little is published on the subject. The text includes deeper discussions on important engineering factors associated with fire and gas detection, along with anecdotes and examples. It will guide the readers on what to consider when you do not have access to proprietary guides, and how to interpret the design process even when one does not have access to a guidance document. The text covers important topics including visual flame detection, flame detection mapping, infrared point gas detector (IRPGD), infrared open path gas detector (OPGD), ultrasonic/acoustic design, and gas detection mapping. The book plays the following roles: Explores practical aspects of designing a detection layout Enables users in interpreting a detector data sheet and coverage analysis Teaches readers working on a project to cut through the marketing of detection and design an effective system Inclusion of real-life experiences on projects will provide engineers with clear examples of where things can, and often do, go wrong It is an ideal text for professionals and graduate students working in the fields of occupational health and safety, fire protection engineering, and environmental safety. The text discusses fundamental aspects of fire and gas mapping, which has been applied with great success in many parts of the world and is commonly adopted by the major operators in the process industries.

Book Gas Sensors

  • Author : G. Sberveglieri
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9401127379
  • Pages : 413 pages

Download or read book Gas Sensors written by G. Sberveglieri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There were two reasons that induced me to plan and to organize this book, the first was the lack of a text entirely devoted to the subject of gas sensors, notwithstanding some books devoted to the various kind of chemical sensors have recently been published. The second reason was the need of introducing the basic topics of gas detection mechanisms to a growing number of researchers active in research and development laboratories of industries and uni versities. The field of chemical sensors is indeed in fast and consistent growth, as it is proved by the increased number of participants to the congresses that were recently held on this subject, namely the Third Meeting on Chemical Sensors (September 24 - 26, 1990, Cleveland), Transducers' 91 (June 24 - 27, 1991, S. Francisco) and EUROSENSORS V (September 30 - October 3, 1991, Rome). Therefore, this book is mainly intended as a reference text for researchers with a MS degree in physics, chemistry and electrical engineering; it reports the last progresses in the R. & D. and in the technology of gas sensors. I choose to deal specifically with the topic of gas sensors because these devices show a very large number of applications in the domestic and industrial field and they are characterized by a great effort of research and development.

The volume on Pollution Control Technologies focuses largely concerned with strategies for pollution reduction, and pollution prevention if at all possible, using scientific and technological methods. Focusing primarily but not exclusively on air pollution, the Theme is written in simple English, avoiding both mathematical and chemical equations as far as possible to facilitate effective and widest possible dissemination. The content of the Theme provides the essential aspects and a myriad of issues of great relevance to our world such as: Control of Particulate Matter in Gaseous Emissions; Control of Gaseous Emissions; Pollution Control through Efficient Combustion Technology; Pollution Control in Industrial Processes; Pollution Control in Transportation, which are then expanded into multiple subtopics, each as a chapter. These three volumes are aimed at the following five major target audiences: University and College students Educators, Professional practitioners, Research personnel and Policy analysts, managers, and decision makers and NGOs
