Book excerpt: In Church Culture Vs Christ, author Saphina Carla sheds light on common ideologies that have supplemented the Christian faith. In it, she discusses her own faulty beliefs that had to be readjusted by Christ and not by church girl culture - a culture of cosmetic Christianity that can often prioritize false piety, over transparency and truth. Her goal is to make taboo church topics - - not so taboo. The goal is to remove the pressures of perfection when it comes to women of faith and to restore biblical truth in places where it's been set aside for shallow formulas. Above all, her goal is for Christ to be glorified. Saphina Carla is a writer, blogger, and Christian content creator. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and is of Haitian descent. She started her journey of salvation at nineteen years old after God delivered her from an abusive relationship. Her aim is to promote biblical truth while providing a safe space to have authentic dialogue within the church, especially as it relates to the taboo and the uncomfortable.

You've always had the latest Hillsong album on your phone. But all of this is just jaded responses to your religion. Church girl, it's time to wake up. It's time for you to realize your potential and allow yourself to be taught and equipped now instead of waiting until your today becomes a distant memory. Book Church Girl Is a Gay

Download or read book Church Girl Is a Gay written by Ginger Hendrix and published by Stephen F. Austin University Press. This book was released on 2022-02-02 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ginger Hendrix's finely crafted memoir, Church Girl is a Gay, recounts her life in unflinching detail. In a state centered in the Bible Belt, in the center of a proudly Christian city, Hendrix tells her story with white-hot honesty as she writes, ". . . off every road I'd ever traveled was littered with the footprints of youth group leaders leading games out of my garage. And it wasn't until my heart broke so badly that I couldn't stand up under the pain that my feet went looking for the soft, sandy ground of places where people weren't sure of most anything. I was married with three kids, a leader in an evangelical non-profit. I was 48, and I knew my insides felt built to love a woman. But I still didn't know I was gay--because I'd never asked the question. There was no question available to ask."

Book The Real Life of a Church Girl The Untold Story

Download or read book The Real Life of a Church Girl The Untold Story written by T. J. Callahan and published by . This book was released on 2021-02-07 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being born into my mother's side of the family I was expected to live one way, that was Holy. I was surrounded by Pastors, Elders, Ministers and the saints of God that were my village. A real life church girl. From the time I can remember, my life was Sunday all day church, Wednesday night bible study, Friday night service and Saturday church activities. My way of life, my routine. All I knew and heard were the words Holy Ghost, Holiness; choir members in their black and white; "Church women don't wear pants;" you had to wear a lace head covering; no fornication or committing adultery were allowed. If you did, you would be silenced and treated differently by the saints of God. All I knew was that the Pastor had control of the saints in their church. If you were a pastor you had a pretty wife, a nice car, houses and dressed the best. These were my realities with contradictions thrown in the mix. There are so many broken people possessing and infecting other people with their brokenness all while shouting loud "I'm Christian, I'm saved, a Baptized believer." This type of demonic behavior must be addressed, exposed and cast out so that people can live and not just exist.

Book Struggles of the Church Girl

Download or read book Struggles of the Church Girl written by Winessa Smith and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I first experienced being called a Church Girl, I thought it simply meant I was an honorable girl because I attended church. Until one day when I was having a conversation with my high school classmate's father. We were discussing the different kinds of women who attend church. First he began to share with me about the places he would go to when he wanted a fast woman. He told me when he wanted a fast woman, he didn't go to the bars or to the streets. He said, " Oh, no, it was easier to snag a "Church Girl." We had this conversation over 25 years ago, and I was so angry and disturbed how he stigmatized Church Girls as being easy fast women. After this conversation, I was determined to change this negative image about Church Girls.
