Book The Christian Musicians Devotional

Download or read book The Christian Musicians Devotional written by Marie Wise and published by . This book was released on 2014-04-30 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digging deeper into ministry means drawing closer to God and living His love for people. The Christian Musicians Devotional is specifically for Christian musicians who desire extraordinary music ministries. This book addresses the attitudes, issues, and difficulties involved with music ministry. Each of the 365 daily devotions is designed to keep us focused on what really matters: to love God and live His love for people. Only by living love can we attain our goal of bringing people closer to Jesus. More importantly, only by maintaining a dynamic love for God can we sustain the extraordinary music ministry that God has planned for us. The definition of a Christian music minister does not necessarily include being signed to a national label or a photograph on the cover of a well-known magazine. Many Christian music ministers will never be famous. Most of us work another job to support our music. Being a tent-maker, like the apostle Paul, does not lessen the impact or the power of our ministry. Likewise, being paid to do full time work in our ministry, like the apostle Peter, does not eliminate the struggles of life as a musician. Regardless of whether we work full time in ministry or as tent-makers, Christian music ministers must stay spiritually strong while working long hours both on and off the road. The Christian Musicians Devotional will help us develop a deeper love for God and for people.

Book Music and the Christian Spirit

Download or read book Music and the Christian Spirit written by Philip Ficsor and published by . This book was released on 2014-08-11 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These devotionals engage issues, concerns and topics that formally trained musicians who are serious in their faith walk regularly wrestle with. Topics include how to deal with praise in a way that isn't prideful, coping with performance anxiety, exploring the student-teacher dynamic, and interpretation to name only a few. Reading these devotionals will help create a positive mindset for any musical endeavor that follows. In the private lesson setting, they serve to focus the student, buffering them from what came before the lesson and possibly for what follows it. They can be used by music teachers in the classroom as a springboard for integrating the disciplines of music with the foundations of Christian faith; by a music director sharing with her choir or worship leader sharing with his musicians; by the growing musician and believer as a devotional aid and so on. A devotional can take as little as five minutes to read/discuss. Discussion questions are posed at the end of each devotional and close with a prayer. Throughout, it is our hope that the reader will understand more about the ways in which biblical messages interweave with our musical and personal lives.

Book The Christian Musician s Call to Ministry

Download or read book The Christian Musician s Call to Ministry written by Mark a. Becker and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2015-01-30 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Music has existed before the dawn of time. Its source flows from the essence of God Himself and was created for the purpose of creating a melodious conduit from which could flow the highest form of praise and worship through created beings towards the creator Himself. Lucifer who was created as an angelic being of praise and adoration to God, was the most decorated of all His creation, was a veritable angelic musical instrument. When God created man He imparted to him His authority to have dominion over the earth, and music was a part of that impartation. Man fell however, and gave his authority and thus the purpose and power of music back over to Satan (Formerly Lucifer), who has been perverting the purpose of music here on earth ever since. As such, down through the years many musicians, even in ministry, are entrapped by this exact same attitude of self-pride in the name of popularity, professionalism and or musicianship so that the ideals and agenda of the flesh, the world and the enemy have eventually crept into Christian music and ministry. This accounts for the wide spread division and destruction among so many Christian bands today, and why so many people are so easily enthralled by sensuous music or a fleshly expression of it. The result is that, rather than being a ministry to others, music has often become a means of self-pleasure and promotion. In other words a curse-"noise" that God refuses to hear! "Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps." Amos 5:23 God is urgently calling Christian music leaders and musicians today to take back what the enemy has been allowed to continue to steal, kill and destroy through music for so long, by stepping up and stepping out in the power of His anointing through the most powerful spiritual medium created... the anointed message of the gospel through the lyrics and melody of music.

Book excerpt: This offering from Garen L. Wolf is unique on the shelves of devotional literature. On the face of it, "Tuning the Musician's Heart" is aimed at providing daily devotional guides to those ministering in sacred melody. But it is much more. The author employs his extensive knowledge of the original meanings of ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek musical terms to address the role of music in worship and its biblical roots. He provides rare insight into the spiritual motivations of the great musicians of the Bible- such as the Psalmist David and the temple musicians- along with Paul's admonitions for the use of song in the Early Church. He skillfully reduces his concepts into common English and enlarges the borders to include everyday life for Christians in general. Even readers whose extent of music making extends no further than joining in congregational singing and listening to recorded instrumentals will find much to appreciate here. This volume makes a great gift idea for local congregational music makers- and high school and college students serious, not only about their music education, but also their walk with God and serving him with their God-given talent. (This volume covers January-June.)

Book Keep a Song in Your Heart

Download or read book Keep a Song in Your Heart written by Jackie Freeman and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2021-10-29 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For a century, gospel music has soothed sorrows, proclaimed joys, preserved stories, and inspired new paths, always reminding listeners that God is the source of our lives and our salvation. This music wove and flowed and coursed through Jackie Freeman’s life even before she was born, thanks to the incredible musician she called Momma. Her earliest memories center on her mother sitting at her upright piano as she played selections from the old Free Will Baptist Hymn Book and the piles of sheet music of gospel songs. That music teaches Scripture, God’s deep and abiding love for us all, and a reverence for the awe-inspiring power and beauty of classic Christian songs. Keep a Song in Your Heart is a legacy project that explores the wisdom Southern gospel masterpieces and their performers impart. In these devotions, the author shares how America’s greatest gospel songs inspired her family and her life—and, she hopes, they will enrich and inspire your life. Thanks to modern technology, she shares the music with you via Spotify, a free computer app. During difficult times in our lives and in the world, this devotional offers strong messages of hope, destiny, and salvation.
