Book Only God Can Make a Butterfly

Download or read book Only God Can Make a Butterfly written by M. D. David J. Delnostro and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's ultimate plan for His people is one of transformation. All of us are born in God's image, but His ultimate desire is for us to be transformed into His likeness. For this metamorphosis to occur, we must stop competing with God to be the master of our lives. Just as a butterfly changes from a larval caterpillar, all human beings are to be transformed into their mature form, a person possessing the nature and character of Jesus. Butterfly people see the world from God's perspective and experience more joy and peace in life. Caterpillars are left behind to see the world from man's perspective and suffer from immature, pathological thinking, dysfunctional relationships, and self-serving religions and governments. God designed our world for Christ-centered butterflies that can live in the light of His wisdom and truth, not caterpillars that stumble through life and remain lost in the darkness of their self-centered world. In Only God Can Make A Butterfly, David Delnostro, M.D. walks you through the psychological, interpersonal, political and medical advantages of soaring through life as a butterfly and the pathological consequences of crawling through life as a caterpillar. David J. Delnostro, M.D. is a graduate of Ohio State University College of Medicine. He began his medical career in 1980 in Savannah, Georgia as an emergency room physician at Candler Hospital. For the past twenty-six years, he has practiced family medicine and currently is a member of Southcoast Medical Group in Savannah. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the oldest of six children. Although he was raised by a Catholic father and a Jewish mother, he never practiced either religion. At age forty, he began his life-changing relationship with Jesus. Currently, he serves as a deacon and Divorce Recovery leader at Savannah Christian Church.

Book From Caterpillar to Butterfly

Download or read book From Caterpillar to Butterfly written by Katie LeBlanc and published by . This book was released on 2010-01 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My first response to Katie's writing was shock and awe. To read this account of her life made me feel that any pain I may have gone through in my life was insignificant. Not that pain in anyone's life should be minimized but this pain was constant and almost unimaginable. As I continued reading many emotions were stirred. There was sadness, helplessness, hopelessness, anger and even despair. By the end of first chapter I wanted to quit reading. But curiosity kept me going and I'm so glad I did. People say that the test of art is either you hate it or love it. Katie gives us a shot at both emotions. We hate what happens to her in the beginning but we love what happens in the end. Katie's story demonstrates the ravages of sin in the lives of all human beings just as Scripture warns. The cast of the destroyed is deep and wide. We find that sin takes no prisoners. Truly it is the ultimate death of any joy, peace or fulfillment in this life. She demonstrates in her writing that sin hurts people and hurting people hurt other people and that the cycle is not easily broken. But the story has a strange twist. In the midst of hell on earth, death and destruction comes life, a resurrection. Katie's Knight in shining armor shows up and begins to lift her out of the dust, rips open her caterpillar cocoon and sets her free to be the butterfly she was born to be in the first place. But the resurrection wasn't just for her. It turns out that her suffering was going to be used for the millions of other caterpillars in the world who are destined to be butterflies. God never waste a hurt but has a plan to turn it to good. You will love this account of God's mercy and grace in a world filled with evil. You can believe, God has the last word. II COR.1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God

Book In the Time of the Butterflies

Download or read book In the Time of the Butterflies written by Julia Alvarez and published by Algonquin Books. This book was released on 2010-01-12 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, internationally bestselling author and literary icon Julia Alvarez's In the Time of the Butterflies is "beautiful, heartbreaking and alive ... a lyrical work of historical fiction based on the story of the Mirabal sisters, revolutionary heroes who had opposed and fought against Trujillo." (Concepción de León, New York Times) Alvarez’s new novel, The Cemetery of Untold Stories, is coming April 2, 2024. Pre-order now! It is November 25, 1960, and three beautiful sisters have been found near their wrecked Jeep at the bottom of a 150-foot cliff on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. The official state newspaper reports their deaths as accidental. It does not mention that a fourth sister lives. Nor does it explain that the sisters were among the leading opponents of Gen. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo’s dictatorship. It doesn’t have to. Everybody knows of Las Mariposas—the Butterflies. In this extraordinary novel, the voices of all four sisters--Minerva, Patria, María Teresa, and the survivor, Dedé--speak across the decades to tell their own stories, from secret crushes to gunrunning, and to describe the everyday horrors of life under Trujillo’s rule. Through the art and magic of Julia Alvarez’s imagination, the martyred Butterflies live again in this novel of courage and love, and the human costs of political oppression. "Alvarez helped blaze the trail for Latina authors to break into the literary mainstream, with novels like In the Time of the Butterflies and How the García Girls Lost Their Accents winning praise from critics and gracing best-seller lists across the Americas."—Francisco Cantú, The New York Times Book Review "This Julia Alvarez classic is a must-read for anyone of Latinx descent." —Popsugar.com "A gorgeous and sensitive novel . . . A compelling story of courage, patriotism and familial devotion." —People "Shimmering . . . Valuable and necessary." —Los Angeles Times "A magnificent treasure for all cultures and all time.” —St. Petersburg Times "Alvarez does a remarkable job illustrating the ruinous effect the 30-year dictatorship had on the Dominican Republic and the very real human cost it entailed."—Cosmopolitan.com

Book excerpt: A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Roma Downey—best known as the beloved angel on the TV show Touched by an Angel—“has created a beautiful and personal testimony to the presence of God in our lives and our world” (Most Reverend José H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles). Ever since she was a little girl, Roma has seen butterflies as a reminder of God’s presence. They have appeared to her in moments when she needed encouragement, reminding her that she is not alone. In this deeply personal book, Roma shares stories from her life, alongside quotes, poems, scripture, and artwork that she prays will uplift you as they have her. Reminiscent of the message of her popular television series, Touched by an Angel, this book’s central theme is that there is a God, He loves you, and that even in your most difficult moments, He is by your side. The subtle butterfly theme reminds us that the wonder of God’s love and kindness is sometimes reflected in the gentle whispers of His creation and that we all have the power to transform from simple caterpillars into exquisite butterflies. This inspirational book invites you to return to its pages again and again, as life brings new challenges, or you find yourself in need of new inspiration. Box of Butterflies “will touch you and move you and strengthen you” (Kathie Lee Gifford).

Book Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CBA BESTSELLER • More than a million copies sold! An invitation for every woman who’s ever felt she isn’t godly enough, isn’t loving enough, isn’t doing enough. “Easy to read, personal, and well-written with a message much more than surface deep. Joanna probed, challenged, and encouraged me to live day by day as Mary in a Martha world.”—Carole Mayhall, author of Come Walk with Me and Here I Am Again, Lord The life of a woman today isn’t all that different from the lives of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. Like Mary, you long to sit at the Lord’s feet . . . but the daily demands of a busy world just won’t leave you alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and really want to serve him . . . yet you struggle with weariness, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy. Then comes Jesus, into the midst of your busy life, to extend the same invitation he issued long ago to the two sisters from Bethany. Tenderly, he invites you to choose “the better part”—a joyful life of intimacy with him that flows naturally into loving service. With her fresh approach to the familiar Bible story, Joanna Weaver shows how all of us, Marys and Marthas alike, can draw closer to our Lord: deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy. This book includes a twelve-week Bible study for individual or group use. A Study Guide and a corresponding ten-session video series on DVD or online are available separately.

Book excerpt: "The butterfly flutters above and over the earth, borne on the air and shimmering with light... We ought really to see them as nothing other than beings of light, joyous in their colours and the play of colours. All the rest is garment and luggage." - Rudolf Steiner. Truly poetic and deeply esoteric, these lectures by Rudolf Steiner have been gathered here in a single volume for the first time, with an in-depth introduction that traces and explains the stages of butterfly metamorphosis. The emergence of the butterfly from its pupa is one of the most moving phenomena we can encounter in nature. In this creature's visible transformations, we can experience a revelation of spirit. The butterfly, says Rudolf Steiner, is "... a flower blossom lifted into the air by light and cosmic forces". It is a being that develops from and through light, via a process of incorporation and internalization. By gazing into the world of these special and rarefied creatures, we can intuit that they, "... ray out something even better than sunlight: they shine spirit light out into the cosmos".

Download or read book Butterflies written by D.B. Brown and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-11-03 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do you do when the pieces are scattered? How do you find yourself when everything you thought you knew about yourself seems lost? Who do you turn to when the reflection in the mirror is someone you no longer know? When do you decide that its time to transform, not only your life but also everything in it? The stages we go through in life, the encounters we have, and the moments that turn our lives in multiple directions are the very things we need to transform. Every butterfly is born a caterpillar. To some, that caterpillar is ugly and unattractive, its true purpose only very few of us know. Many of us just see the beautiful ending in the butterfly. But what does it take to get there? The place in life we are in now is most important, it's where we evolve, change, and transform. People will often times say you have changed and you are not the same. Well, as you grow in God and transform, you shouldn't be the same. There should be something different in your walk, your talk, the way you live, and the way you think. As each person positively transforms into God's desired masterpiece, we should be in awe of amazement and joy of not only what God has done but that you were privileged to journey with them. Now, let me journey with you as you begin, start over, or pick up where you left off in transforming. Remember don't despise any stage you are in when transforming; even the caterpillar has a lot to offer. As a matter of fact, caterpillars have quite a few amazing facts three of which stick out to me: (1) the caterpillars only job is to eat; (2) caterpillars maintain their legs, even after transforming into butterflies; and (3) caterpillars have to be creative in defending themselves. As growing women transforming into the image that God has created us to be, our main job should be to eat. We should be consuming God's love, His word, and everything God has for us to receive. Like the caterpillar, there are some things that God has planted in each of us that we will not be without at the end of blossoming into the beauty we were made to be. In life, we are going to go through an abundance of experiences; to top it off, the devil spends a lot of time scheming and planning attacks against us. Finding the tools that help us move gracefully in life is often hard. The Bible is always the best guide to dodging every bullet, but without studying the word of God, you never learn to use it to its full capacity. Are you ready to finally to get your wings? We are all becoming, so just BECOME!

Book excerpt: Faith is woven with a Crimson Cord to connect centuries full of historical events about Jesus' life on earth. The picture book, THE JOHN 3:16 MESSENGERS, uses butterflies and hand illustrations to tell this redemption revelation. Passages, from both the Old and the New Testament of the Bible, are sited on each written page to support the story itself. Romans 1:20 (NKJV) states: "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they (mankind) are without excuse..."Below is listed how each stage of the butterfly's life-cycle can represent Jesus' Victory Story. The egg-the Angel Gabriel visited Mary (a virgin) and told her God would place the Seed of His Son inside her womb. The caterpillar-Christ's life as a baby, a child, and a man on earth who hungered, suffered, wept, loved, healed, and taught. The chrysalis-Christ's human body dying on the cross and being buried in a tomb for three days. The butterfly-Christ's new glorious body being raised from the dead, breaking free from the chains of entombment, and ascending into heaven after walking on the earth for forty days.
