Book excerpt: What is an instrument? That's easy; they are tools that are used to make music. What music? Again that's easy, whatever the musician desires. Instruments are subject to the will of their master and were crafted for a specific purpose. Now what is a chosen instrument and what do they do? Simply put, you are a chosen instrument and your song is that of God's will for your life. You were hand crafted by God for God to worship him in all that you do. As Paul states in Romans 12:1-2 "I appeal to you therefore brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." Living our lives as chosen instruments should cause others to see Christ's impact on our lives and cause God to receive glory. This book is designed to walk you through God's plan for worship and set you free from the captivity of your old worship paradigm. Through reading this book you will see the opportunities for worship that God places in our lives every day.

Book The Jews as a Chosen People

Download or read book The Jews as a Chosen People written by S. Leyla Gurkan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2008-12-05 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of the Jews as a chosen people is a key element of the Jewish faith and identity. This book explores the idea of chosenness from the ancient world, through modernity and into the Post-Holocaust era. Analysing a vast corpus of biblical, ancient, rabbinic and modern Jewish literature, the author seeks to give a better understanding of this central doctrine of the Jewish religion. She shows that although the idea of chosenness has been central to Judaism and Jewish self-definition, it has not been carried to the present day in the same form. Instead it has gone through constant change, depending on who is employing it, against what sort of background, and for what purpose. Surveying the different and sometimes conflicting interpretations of the doctrine of chosenness that appear in Ancient, Modern, and Post-Holocaust periods, the dominant themes of ‘Holiness’, ‘Mission’, and ‘Survival’ are identified in each respective period. The theological, philosophical, and sociological dimensions of the question of Jewish chosenness are thus examined in their historical context, as responses to the challenges of Christianity, Modernity, and the Holocaust in particular. This book will be of interest to scholars and students of Jewish Studies, the Holocaust, religion and theology.

Book Goals and Economic Instruments for the Achievement of Global Warming Mitigation in Europe

Download or read book Goals and Economic Instruments for the Achievement of Global Warming Mitigation in Europe written by Jürgen Hacker and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change poses important challenges to research and policy. Within three decades, an issue that was initially confined to the attention of a few scientists became the topic of large-scale research programmes, national and European policies and an international Convention. While significant uncertainties remain on the timing and scale of the changes to be expected and of their impacts, an appreci ation emerged of the high ecological, economic, political and social stakes involved and lead to governmental, business and citizens' initiatives. After focusing on the understanding of climate processes and the possible impacts of climate change on ecosystems, European research - and international research more generally - started addressing also the social, economic and policy causes of and responses to climate change. In the meantime, local, national and European measures started being developed to mitigate carbon dioxide emissions, a European target was agreed to achieve the stabilization of carbon dioxide by 2000 at the levels of 1990, the Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC) was adopted and was followed by its Kyoto Protocol.
