Book The Chemistry of the Metal Carbon Bond Volume 4

Download or read book The Chemistry of the Metal Carbon Bond Volume 4 written by Frank R. Hartley and published by Wiley. This book was released on 1987 with total page 1376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of the Metal-Carbon Bond is a multi-volume work within the well established series of books covering The Chemistry of Functional Groups. It aims to cover the chemistry of the metal-carbon bond as a whole, but lays emphasis on the carbon end. It should therefore be of particular interest to the organic chemist. This fourth volume is concerned with the use of organometallic compounds in organic synthesis. It includes material concerned with carbon-carbon bond formation together with chapters concerned with the formation of carbon-hydrogen and other carbon- element bonds. The material is divided into two parts: the first part is concerned with the preparation of the main group organometallic compounds and their Use in organic synthesis. The second part includes the use of transition metal organometallics in organic synthesis as well as chapters on hydrogenation, saturated carbon-hydrogen bond activation and the rapidly expanding field of supported metal complex catalysts.

Book GeR4 Compounds and Ge CH3 3R Compounds up to Cyclic Alkyl Groups

Download or read book GeR4 Compounds and Ge CH3 3R Compounds up to Cyclic Alkyl Groups written by Frank Glockling and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume opens the Gmelin series on organogermanium compounds, that is, those compounds containing at least one germanium-to-carbon bond. This whole series is being coordinated by Professor J. Satge of the Universite Paul Sabatier in Toulouse. Germanium is of historical interest because its existence was predicted by Newlands in 1864 and by Mendeleeff in 1871 although it was not isolated until1887 by Winkler. Mendeleeff's predictions of the properties of germanium and its compounds by comparison with what was known of the chemistry of its neighbors, silicon and tin, proved remarkably accurate and included predictions of the existence of organic derivatives GeR and of their properties. 4 Although significant applications are as yet lacking for organogermanium compounds in contrast to organo-silicon, -tin, and -lead compounds there has been considerable interest in the parallel development of its chemistry. Up to 1983 about 1500 publications have appeared on organogermanium chemistry. The material of the present series will be grouped in a similar way as for the organotin series beginning with compounds containing only one germanium atom (mononuclear com pounds) and continuing with binuclear up to polynuclear compounds. Within each group the compounds are arranged by the kind of non-carbon substituents rather than by following the usual Gmelin principle of the last position using the Gmelin system of elements.

Book Metal Carbon Bonds in Enzymes and Cofactors

Download or read book Metal Carbon Bonds in Enzymes and Cofactors written by Astrid Sigel and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The occurrence of a wide variety of metal-carbon bonds in living organisms, ranging from bacteria to humans, is only recently recognized. Of course, the historical examples are the B12 coenzymes containing cobalt-carbon bonds, but now such bonds are also known for nickel, iron, copper, and other transition metal ions. There is no other comparable book; MILS-6, written by 17 experts, summarizes the most recent insights into this fascinating topic.

Book Chemistry of the Platinum Group Metals

Download or read book Chemistry of the Platinum Group Metals written by F.R. Hartley and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 645 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chemistry of platinum group metals is a rapidly expanding commercially important field. It is dominated by the catalytic properties of the metals. They are useful in petrochemical and general chemical plants and are becoming increasingly important as autocatalysts for pollution control. The book covers recent developments in the chemistry of the six platinum group metals, namely, platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium. The material falls into three broad areas. Firstly, the occurrence, extraction and use of the metals, especially in catalysis, electrochemistry, energy and electronics. Secondly, organometallic and homogeneous catalytic chemistry and last but not least coordination chemistry including biochemistry and cancer therapy. The work is aimed at scientists in universities and in industry using any of the six platinum group metals in research. It will be useful for those studying the compounds of the metals themselves, and those considering to use either the metals or their complexes and catalysts in their experimental work.
