Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An up-and-coming reporter is given an interview of a lifetime. Grier Russo, a trained Casanova who was chiefly responsible for the takedown of the Press Secretary of the United States, is dying and wants to come clean and tell his side of the story before his demise. Since the downfall of the Press Secretary, Elizabeth Roberts, Grier Russo has been a hermit for the past few decades. He accepted an interview with a young, hungry reporter, Lucas Landon. Lucas was able to unravel details from the reclusive Grier on how Grier became a Casanova and what that process entailed. Through flashbacks, Grier weaves a complex story of how he was a pawn through his mentor, Tommy Wheeler. Tommy's sphere of influence enabled him to recruit young men and women through scouting airports, buses, and train stations. The latter one is where a young Grier is minding his own business and riding the train to work. Tommy Wheeler, a gigolo himself, is on the hunt for new talent, sits down next to Grier on a train. Grier listens to Tommy incredulously as he pitches the perks of the profession. But is it the truth or a ruse? With Grier in financial distress and having a terminally ill wife that he must support, Grier reluctantly accepts Tommy's offer. Test after test, he must prove to Tommy he has what it takes to be a Casanova. But at what cost? Only after meeting Payton Erk does he fully realize the perilous position he was put in on purpose. All of Grier's training is put to the test when he discovers the depth of the deception, which leads all the way to the White House.

Book THE MEMOIRS OF CASANOVA All 6 Volumes in One Premium Illustrated Edition

Download or read book THE MEMOIRS OF CASANOVA All 6 Volumes in One Premium Illustrated Edition written by Giacomo Casanova and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2023-12-09 with total page 2934 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This carefully crafted ebook: "THE MEMOIRS OF CASANOVA - All 6 Volumes in One Premium Illustrated Edition" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. A series of adventures wilder and more fantastic than the wildest of romances, written down with the exactitude of a business diary; a view of men and cities from Naples to Berlin, from Madrid and London to Constantinople and St. Petersburg; the 'vie intime' of the eighteenth century depicted by a man, who to-day sat with cardinals and saluted crowned heads, and tomorrow lurked in dens of profligacy and crime; a book of confessions penned without reticence and without penitence; a record of forty years of "occult" charlatanism; a collection of tales of successful imposture, of 'bonnes fortunes', of marvellous escapes, of transcendent audacity, told with the humour of Smollett and the delicate wit of Voltaire. Who is there interested in men and letters, and in the life of the past, who would not cry, "Where can such a book as this be found?" Yet the above catalogue is but a brief outline, a bare and meager summary, of the book known as "THE MEMOIRS OF CASANOVA"; a work absolutely unique in literature. He who opens these wonderful pages is as one who sits in a theatre and looks across the gloom, not on a stage-play, but on another and a vanished world. Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798) was an Italian adventurer and author from the Republic of Venice. He often signed his works Jacques Casanova de Seingalt after he began writing in French following his second exile from Venice. He has become so famous for his often complicated and elaborate affairs with women that his name is now synonymous with "womanizer". He associated with European royalty, popes and cardinals, along with luminaries such as Benjamin Franklin, Voltaire, Goethe, and Mozart.

Book Casanova and His Time Classic Reprint

Download or read book Casanova and His Time Classic Reprint written by Edouard Maynial and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-05 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Casanova and His Time There are works, as there are men, which are better than their reputation. The former have been injured by their readers, the latter by their evil company. Casanova's com pany was of the worst, and for a long time his readers were very nearly to match. He was read at the age of unhealthy curiosity; the complacently detailed list, with all the names in place, of his ban/nes fortunes, the tale of his erotic prowess, the be wildering chronicle of his facile loves, served as a pasturage for boyish or senile imaginations. Hence the notoriety which has emblazoned his Memoirs. But gradually another kind of curiosity fastened on him - that of research. Men of learning, critics, historians, perceived in this rich tissue of cosmopolitan intrigues and adventures the thread of a genuine destiny; and these have found in the Memoirs, not the too-faithful portrait of a professional libertine, but one of those vivid, fresh, original documents which help to construct the history of a whole social epoch. Much has been written on Casanova's Memoirs. A copious bibliography could easily be made of the books. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An erotic, comedic, and compulsively readable historical novel depicting the beguiling Giacomo Casanova as he looks back on a life of love and ribald adventure In Count Waldstein’s far-flung Bohemian castle, an aging Casanova spends his days as a librarian cataloging the count’s extensive collection of books. Or at least that’s what he’s supposed to be doing. Ever the storyteller, Casanova instead dedicates himself to his own writing, for which the young servant Laura Brock serves as an endlessly fascinated audience. He recounts to her his greatest escapades—from romances in a Venetian convent to the seduction of an entire harem to the triumphant amassing (and subsequent loss) of a fortune in Paris. Enlivened by the French Revolution and the liberating ideas of the Enlightenment, Casanova’s latest exploits prove he still possesses an intellectual vigor and insatiable curiosity. Even old age can’t keep this legendary libertine—who corresponded with Voltaire, discussed flight with Benjamin Franklin, and whose life and writings inspired artists as diverse as Mozart, Flaubert, Stendhal, and Hesse—from causing trouble. Rich with eighteenth-century European social, political, and religious history, Casanova in Bohemia is an energetic and erotic portrait of Western literature’s most beloved lothario, whose hedonism was matched by his creativity and wit.
