Book excerpt: What is humanity’s ultimate destiny? Could there be life beyond the grave? What is genuine spirituality? These questions and many more are answered by a carpenter’s son, Jesus, born in ancient Judaea two thousand years ago. He healed thousands, yet never received medical training. He taught in streets, homes, and temples, yet never achieved scholarly status. He demanded perfection, yet chose the imperfect to follow him. He spoke of the arrival of an eternal kingdom, yet he never ran for political office or led a nation. He spoke of peace and love, yet led the greatest counter-revolutionary effort in human history. Despised by his critics and revered by society’s lowest members, Jesus still speaks to our deficiencies as well as our weaknesses, and assures a redemption we could never achieve on our own. Out of an original rebellion, we all face a self-imposed defeat by pointlessly attempting to establish our own kingdoms despite confronting the same abysmal fate. Yet, God has achieved the greatest comeback in history by conquering death, and in doing so, has prepared for us a victory we could not possibly imagine, for to lose all is to gain all.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Carpenter's Son, the Leader of Men: A Christmas Preparation Sermon Sokrates was the son of a stone - cutter; Buddha was born in a palace; but cradled in kingly palace, the humble home of an artisan, or born where the cattle were, the same obscurity envelops the origin. All this obscurity does not disprove the glowing fact that a spirit thus cradled did grow into truth-telling, right seeking. Man-loving power. The abject worship and the unlimited rhetoric imbedded in the adoration of subsequent ages testify to the sublime reality. Book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 58

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 58 written by Spurgeon, Charles H. and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on with total page 868 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 58 Sermons 3283-3334 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who was Jesus of Nazareth? Buried beneath two thousand years of theology and dogma lies a real historical person who founded a movement that evolved into the largest religion in the history of the world. But is it possible to know what he really said, did, and believed? This book applies the Marxist conception of history to the study of the historical Jesus. It focuses on class, material conditions, and textual analysis to extract the authentic sayings and deeds of Jesus of Nazareth. The implications are far-reaching for followers of Christ wishing to base their faith in reason and science. They also offer guidance and inspiration for modern activists and revolutionaries wishing to challenge the same unjust systems of power that Jesus faced in his own lifetime.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fatherhood Principles of Joseph The Carpenter is a challenging and exciting motivational book for fathers with ground-breaking analysis of the scriptures on this Great Man of Faith. As the earthly father to Jesus Christ, Joseph was a Godly man, a man of character, a loving husband, a family man, a teacher, a provider, and a protector. Joseph was a purpose-driven servant of God.Joseph is a great role model for 21st century men, husbands and fathers. He was a great man of faith (like Abraham, Noah & David). Fatherhood Principles of Joseph The Carpenter sheds light on aspects of Joseph's life that many people have never thought of, has ground-breaking analysis of this Great Man of Faith, provides 7 Godly principles that men can implement today, explains details of the Jewish background for many Biblical scenes, and is easy-reading, well researched and well-documented. There are only a handful of books on Joseph the Carpenter (or Joseph of Nazareth). None of them focuses on his fatherhood role. This book features a unique approach to the study of Joseph the Carpenter because of (a) its fatherhood focus, (b) its Bible Study components, (c) its extensive application for family studies and family values, (d) its approach to marriage and relationships, and (e) its presentation of Jewish customs and traditions.
