Book Steel Designers Manual Fifth Edition The Steel Construction Institute

Download or read book Steel Designers Manual Fifth Edition The Steel Construction Institute written by Institute Steel Construction and published by Wiley-Blackwell. This book was released on 1993-01-18 with total page 1266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic manual for structural steelwork design was first published in 1956. Since then, it has sold many thousands of copies worldwide. The fifth edition is the first major revision for 20 years and is the first edition to be fully based on limit state design, now used as the primary design method, and on the UK code of practice, BS 5950. It provides, in a single volume, all you need to know about structural steel design.

Book Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete

Download or read book Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete written by Roger P. Johnson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-08-21 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to the theory and design of composite structures of steel and concrete. Material applicable to both buildings and bridges is included, with more detailed information relating to structures for buildings. Throughout, the design methods are illustrated by calculations in accordance with the Eurocode for composite structures, EN 1994, Part 1-1, ‘General rules and rules for buildings’ and Part 1-2, ‘Structural fire design’, and their cross-references to ENs 1990 to 1993. The methods are stated and explained, so that no reference to Eurocodes is needed. The use of Eurocodes has been required in the UK since 2010 for building and bridge structures that are publicly funded. Their first major revision began in 2015, with the new versions due in the early 2020s. Both authors are involved in the work on Eurocode 4. They explain the expected additions and changes, and their effect in the worked examples for a multi-storey framed structure for a building, including resistance to fire. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students, their lecturers and supervisors, and to practising engineers seeking familiarity with composite structures, the Eurocodes, and their ongoing revision.

Book Design of Steel Structures

Download or read book Design of Steel Structures written by Elias G. Abu-Saba and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended for classroom teaching in architectural and civil engineering at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Although it has been developed from lecture notes given in structural steel design, it can be useful to practicing engineers. Many of the examples presented in this book are drawn from the field of design of structures. Design of Steel Structures can be used for one or two semesters of three hours each on the undergraduate level. For a two-semester curriculum, Chapters 1 through 8 can be used during the first semester. Heavy emphasis should be placed on Chapters 1 through 5, giving the student a brief exposure to the consideration of wind and earthquakes in the design of buildings. With the new federal requirements vis a vis wind and earthquake hazards, it is beneficial to the student to have some under standing of the underlying concepts in this field. In addition to the class lectures, the instructor should require the student to submit a term project that includes the complete structural design of a multi-story building using standard design procedures as specified by AISC Specifications. Thus, the use of the AISC Steel Construction Manual is a must in teaching this course. In the second semester, Chapters 9 through 13 should be covered. At the undergraduate level, Chapters 11 through 13 should be used on a limited basis, leaving the student more time to concentrate on composite construction and built-up girders.

Book Building Structures Design and Calculations

Download or read book Building Structures Design and Calculations written by Saad Hasan Tantawi and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-10-15 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Objective of this series is to guide newly graduate engineers, and engineering students in the process of designing, planning, and calculating loads for steel framed buildings in accordance with the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC Version 14.0), and the Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures in accordance with ASCE 7-10. The building in this book is an imaginary building and it is believed that the material presented is comprehensive enough to serve as a guide for a variety of structural engineering courses as well as for self-study. This series incorporates both calculations as well as a step by step design check calculations using structural engineering software programs such as RISA, SAP, and REVIT Structures. In addition, graphics using AutoCAD 2017, and REVIT 2017 is implemented throughout this book
