Book Dependence in Buyer Supplier Relationships

Download or read book Dependence in Buyer Supplier Relationships written by Tobias Mandt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-03-01 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organizations frequently rely on the support of external parties to access necessary resources. In many cases, the resulting buyer-supplier relationships last for decades; some might even become indispensable for one or both parties in achieving its desired business goals. These dependencies between organizations are ubiquitous. This book focuses on such instances, discussing them in a cumulative manner: It begins with an introduction of previous research on the issue, before empirically explaining the emergence of dependencies, their different forms of existence and management approaches as well as its development over time. This book is of special interest for scholars focusing on dyadic partnerships within the domains of industrial marketing, supply chain management or strategic purchasing. Practitioners involved in managing long term buyer-supplier relationships in goods- as well as service-oriented industries might find it insightful as well.

Book Surviving Supply Chain Integration

Download or read book Surviving Supply Chain Integration written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2000-03-23 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The managed flow of goods and information from raw material to final sale also known as a "supply chain" affects everythingâ€"from the U.S. gross domestic product to where you can buy your jeans. The nature of a company's supply chain has a significant effect on its success or failureâ€"as in the success of Dell Computer's make-to-order system and the failure of General Motor's vertical integration during the 1998 United Auto Workers strike. Supply Chain Integration looks at this crucial component of business at a time when product design, manufacture, and delivery are changing radically and globally. This book explores the benefits of continuously improving the relationship between the firm, its suppliers, and its customers to ensure the highest added value. This book identifies the state-of-the-art developments that contribute to the success of vertical tiers of suppliers and relates these developments to the capabilities that small and medium-sized manufacturers must have to be viable participants in this system. Strategies for attaining these capabilities through manufacturing extension centers and other technical assistance providers at the national, state, and local level are suggested. This book identifies action steps for small and medium-sized manufacturersâ€"the "seed corn" of business start-up and developmentâ€"to improve supply chain management. The book examines supply chain models from consultant firms, universities, manufacturers, and associations. Topics include the roles of suppliers and other supply chain participants, the rise of outsourcing, the importance of information management, the natural tension between buyer and seller, sources of assistance to small and medium-sized firms, and a host of other issues. Supply Chain Integration will be of interest to industry policymakers, economists, researchers, business leaders, and forward-thinking executives.

Book Buyer Supplier Partnership Quality and Supply Chain Performance

Download or read book Buyer Supplier Partnership Quality and Supply Chain Performance written by Mahesh Srinivasan and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, we examine the relationship between buyer-supplier partnership quality, and supply chain performance, in the presence of supply and demand side risks and environmental uncertainty. Based on the theoretical underpinnings of resource-based view, relational capital theory, and transaction cost economics, we propose a positive relationship between partnership quality and supply chain performance, which is strengthened in the presence of high demand and supply-side risks, but weakened in the presence of high environmental uncertainty. Empirical evidence, based on the survey data of 127 U.S. firms supports a majority of our arguments. We discuss theoretical and practical ramifications of these findings and offer future avenues of research.

This book was released on 2015-02-20 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mission for managing successful supply chain organisations is incredible. The consequences of failure are unimaginable. The ending is unthinkable if not well managed. "Partnership" is an increasingly important area of interest in the academic and the business world. Companies focus strongly on the development of closer ties with other organizations in search of competitive advantage and improved market positioning. So far, little is known about the mechanisms determining the evolution of collaborative relationships, nor about the existence and interplay of collaboration at various levels within business relationships. One of the most commonly observed requirements for customer responsive supply chain management which goes beyond technological capability is that of inter-firm cooperation or 'collaboration'. Long term, collaborative relationships with a few trusted suppliers have been described as representing a general trend over the past decade or so. This book therefore is a must read for individuals and organizations alike because it gives insights and evidence supporting the view that supply chain management use different methods when engaging in purchasing relationships...

In Improving the Extended Value Stream: Lean for the Entire Supply Chain, Darren Dolcemascolo presents a step-by-step plan for extending lean manufacturing across the entire supply chain. He makes the case for improving the extended value stream by demonstrating the benefits: increased profitability, reduced lead times and inventory, and better quality. He then presents proven methods for sustaining success and continuously improving the entire supply chain. The techniques addressed include extended value stream mapping, process kaizen, outsourcing strategy, supplier evaluation, and supplier integration activities as they relate to a lean supply chain. Readers of this book will learn how to extend lean manufacturing to the entire supply chain, magnifying the benefits of lean manufacturing to their bottom line.
