Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book begins by highlighting the notion that even the most routine natural occurrences can have unforeseen results. It urges one to contemplate how enormous consequences a single individual may have given that even the fall of a leaf can affect the direction of the wind. He emphasizes on how a person's choices can have an unimaginable impact on the course of events amid the intricacy of the universe, in the shadow of interplanetary battles and galaxy conflicts. The protagonist of the book, who struggles inside, interacts with the outside world and makes decisions that have an impact not just on his or her personal life but also on the environment as a whole. It makes us to reflect on the complexity of existence and how people can affect the course of the universe. As they read the book, readers will start to realize how significant an impact their own judgments and choices may have. The book gives readers the chance to embark on an inner trip and provides a viewpoint on comprehending how all universe-wide entities are interconnected. The aim of this book is to empower readers to find their own personal strength and to comprehend the impact one person can have on another person's life halfway around the world. As a result, readers can start to comprehend more fully the possibilities of their actions in their own lives. It prompts us to consider how human decisions can impact the cosmos in a broad sense.

Download or read book Color Space and Creativity written by Jack Stewart and published by Associated University Presse. This book was released on 2008 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This study of Virginia Woolf, D. H. Lawrence, Joyce Cary, Lawrence Durrell, and A. S. Byatt focuses on color, space, and creativity in selected novels, stories, travel texts, essays, and letters." "Stewart highlights a nexus of color, space, and creativity that takes on ontological dimensions in the writing of five writers who are linked by stylistic affinities and correspondingly calibrated sensibilities. They engage writing with painting and their acts of attention converge in a zone where color, space, and creativity sustain the imaginative life-world of their characters. This study should lead to ongoing reflections on the roles of color and space in modernist and postmodernist texts and direct attention to the subtle and pervasive interactions of literature with painting."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Diversity and Evolution of Butterfly Wing Patterns

Download or read book Diversity and Evolution of Butterfly Wing Patterns written by Toshio Sekimura and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-29 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book facilitates an integrative understanding of the development, genetics and evolution of butterfly wing patterns. To develop a deep and realistic understanding of the diversity and evolution of butterfly wing patterns, it is essential and necessary to approach the problem from various kinds of key research fields such as “evo-devo,” “eco-devo,” ”developmental genetics,” “ecology and adaptation,” “food plants,” and “theoretical modeling.” The past decade-and-a-half has seen a veritable revolution in our understanding of the development, genetics and evolution of butterfly wing patterns. In addition, studies of how environmental and climatic factors affect the expression of color patterns has led to increasingly deeper understanding of the pervasiveness and underlying mechanisms of phenotypic plasticity. In recognition of the great progress in research on the biology, an international meeting titled “Integrative Approach to Understanding the Diversity of Butterfly Wing Patterns (IABP-2016)” was held at Chubu University, Japan in August 2016. This book consists of selected contributions from the meeting. Authors include main active researchers of new findings of corresponding genes as well as world leaders in both experimental and theoretical approaches to wing color patterns. The book provides excellent case studies for graduate and undergraduate classes in evolution, genetics/genomics, developmental biology, ecology, biochemistry, and also theoretical biology, opening the door to a new era in the integrative approach to the analysis of biological problems. This book is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license.

Book excerpt: A chance encounter on a plane throws together Doha, a fashion designer unhappily married to a leading figure in the Mubarak regime, and Ashraf, an academic and leading dissident. The story of their relationship and Doha's self-discovery runs alongside a young Egyptian's search for the mother he never knew, and these intersecting narratives unfold against the background of political protests that culminate in the overthrow of the regime. A moving and at times humorous story, Butterfly Wings is an extended allegory of Egypt's modern experience of authoritarian rule and explores the fractures and challenges of a society at the moment of revolutionary transformation.
