Book excerpt: Is change really inevitable? Is growth really optional? Either way, it's necessary when it's for the best. In order to become a butterfly, you first have to go through the prior three stages: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, then the butterfly. It's a process! During that process, there is state of metamorphosis (transformation or transitioning). In these stages, growth is contingent upon what takes place during the process. Either you will feed off of necessity for survival or risk the greatness ahead. Before the final stage, there will be bumps, bruises, discomfort and pain, but it prepares you for what's to come. Look at it this way, your present sufferings aren't worthy to be compare to Glory that shall be revealed (Romans 8:18). Find out what it takes to get your wings in order to fly to destiny! It's going to be rough, but the end result is worth it.

Book The Heart of Transformation

Download or read book The Heart of Transformation written by Verlaine Crawford and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-20 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would you like to transform your life and bring joyful experiences into your personal world? What can you do to release the past and create a bright new future? Is it possible to stop the internal dialogue and self-defeating thoughts that prevent you from being all you can be? The answers are available in this small book, "The Heart of Transformation and The Butterfly Effect." You will learn how to deal with those parts-of-you who are stopping you from achieving your goals. Verlaine Crawford has lived her message of transformation and found her way to peace of mind (most of the time). It has been a long journey from a small town in Iowa to the futuristic world of high technology in Silicon Valley to teaching personal growth in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Europe, the U.S., and the island of Bali. Along the way she did marketing for corporations from high-tech to hospitality to health care. She has observed that the minds of any people on the planet have become fractured by a myriad of competing voices. Parents, friends, teachers, politicians, professionals, actors, media hosts, authors, movie producers, and more propagate their ideas about every possible subject. These competing concepts coming from all directions cause confusion and emotional upheaval. The deluge of personal opinions framed as facts eventually fractures the brain's organizing principle of rational thinking. Years of cross-referencing, victimizing, blaming, and hateful commentary eliminate the central core of a peaceful mind. Caught in a web of chaos, the individual weakens. The spark of life dims, and their power and will to succeed evaporate. Exhausted by a mind constantly attacking internally and flipping from one subject to another, individuals give up control of their lives and follow the path of least resistance. They end up with voices in their heads telling them to do this or that, arguing with them, denigrating their spirits, dampening their enthusiasm, and eliminating their ability to expand and truly enjoy life. This book, "The Heart of Transformation" is meant to give you answers about how to work with all those voices by imagining them to be different parts-of-you. You will be able to reason with your sub-personalities and integrate them into the whole of your being. The premise of sharing this information from my heart to your heart is for you to be able to expand your inner strength and power", explains Verlaine. "It is my desire to help you create a peaceful, harmonious place in which to dwell. It is important that you have the ability to wipe away false perceptions and see the world more clearly and joyfully."With this information and by using the Infusion Integration Technique, you will gain the wisdom and understanding to make informed decisions easily. You will be able to relax into success, health, creativity, and to love yourself and life completely.

Book Imagineering the Butterfly Effect

Download or read book Imagineering the Butterfly Effect written by Diane Nijs and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: X91;Making change happen’ is an important challenge strategists face today. Not only do many of our organizations need change, whole industries and systems need to transform in order to survive and thrive in a connected society. In this study the complexity-based design approach of imagineering is presented and evaluated for its effectiveness in realizing organizational innovation in a sustainable way.0The method approaches organizational change as an emerging process of self-organization. By redesigning the business concept in the narrative mode a kind of bottom-up revitalizing process is effectuated which ignites the collective creativity of involved stakeholders in a strategically envisioned direction. Instead of focusing on changing behavior as conventional change-methods do, the method focuses on achieving a mind-shift in order to effectuate ‘transformation by inspiration’. The effectiveness of the method is evaluated predominantly through two cases which span a period of approximately ten years: the case of the city of Antwerp, and the case of the oldest Belgian retail-chain, Veritas. Based on insights gained from this study, the author reflects on the implications of the imagineering design method on four fields of study: transformative organizing, strategic thinking, design thinking in management and management education.

Book In the Time of the Butterflies

Download or read book In the Time of the Butterflies written by Julia Alvarez and published by Algonquin Books. This book was released on 2010-01-12 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, internationally bestselling author and literary icon Julia Alvarez's In the Time of the Butterflies is "beautiful, heartbreaking and alive ... a lyrical work of historical fiction based on the story of the Mirabal sisters, revolutionary heroes who had opposed and fought against Trujillo." (Concepción de León, New York Times) Alvarez’s new novel, The Cemetery of Untold Stories, is coming April 2, 2024. Pre-order now! It is November 25, 1960, and three beautiful sisters have been found near their wrecked Jeep at the bottom of a 150-foot cliff on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. The official state newspaper reports their deaths as accidental. It does not mention that a fourth sister lives. Nor does it explain that the sisters were among the leading opponents of Gen. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo’s dictatorship. It doesn’t have to. Everybody knows of Las Mariposas—the Butterflies. In this extraordinary novel, the voices of all four sisters--Minerva, Patria, María Teresa, and the survivor, Dedé--speak across the decades to tell their own stories, from secret crushes to gunrunning, and to describe the everyday horrors of life under Trujillo’s rule. Through the art and magic of Julia Alvarez’s imagination, the martyred Butterflies live again in this novel of courage and love, and the human costs of political oppression. "Alvarez helped blaze the trail for Latina authors to break into the literary mainstream, with novels like In the Time of the Butterflies and How the García Girls Lost Their Accents winning praise from critics and gracing best-seller lists across the Americas."—Francisco Cantú, The New York Times Book Review "This Julia Alvarez classic is a must-read for anyone of Latinx descent." —Popsugar.com "A gorgeous and sensitive novel . . . A compelling story of courage, patriotism and familial devotion." —People "Shimmering . . . Valuable and necessary." —Los Angeles Times "A magnificent treasure for all cultures and all time.” —St. Petersburg Times "Alvarez does a remarkable job illustrating the ruinous effect the 30-year dictatorship had on the Dominican Republic and the very real human cost it entailed."—Cosmopolitan.com

Book The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Download or read book The Diving Bell and the Butterfly written by Jean-Dominique Bauby and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2008-03-06 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A triumphant memoir by the former editor-in-chief of French Elle that reveals an indomitable spirit and celebrates the liberating power of consciousness. In 1995, Jean-Dominique Bauby was the editor-in-chief of French Elle, the father of two young children, a 44-year-old man known and loved for his wit, his style, and his impassioned approach to life. By the end of the year he was also the victim of a rare kind of stroke to the brainstem. After 20 days in a coma, Bauby awoke into a body which had all but stopped working: only his left eye functioned, allowing him to see and, by blinking it, to make clear that his mind was unimpaired. Almost miraculously, he was soon able to express himself in the richest detail: dictating a word at a time, blinking to select each letter as the alphabet was recited to him slowly, over and over again. In the same way, he was able eventually to compose this extraordinary book. By turns wistful, mischievous, angry, and witty, Bauby bears witness to his determination to live as fully in his mind as he had been able to do in his body. He explains the joy, and deep sadness, of seeing his children and of hearing his aged father's voice on the phone. In magical sequences, he imagines traveling to other places and times and of lying next to the woman he loves. Fed only intravenously, he imagines preparing and tasting the full flavor of delectable dishes. Again and again he returns to an "inexhaustible reservoir of sensations," keeping in touch with himself and the life around him. Jean-Dominique Bauby died two days after the French publication of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. This book is a lasting testament to his life.

Book The Language of Butterflies

Download or read book The Language of Butterflies written by Wendy Williams and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2020-06-02 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this “deeply personal and lyrical book” (Publishers Weekly) from the New York Times bestselling author of The Horse, Wendy Williams explores the lives of one of the world’s most resilient creatures—the butterfly—shedding light on the role that they play in our ecosystem and in our human lives. “[A] glorious and exuberant celebration of these biological flying machines…Williams takes us on a humorous and beautifully crafted journey” (The Washington Post). From butterfly gardens to zoo exhibits, these “flying flowers” are one of the few insects we’ve encouraged to infiltrate our lives. Yet, what has drawn us to these creatures in the first place? And what are their lives really like? In this “entertaining look at ‘the world’s favorite insect’” (Booklist, starred review), New York Times bestselling author and science journalist Wendy Williams reveals the inner lives of these delicate creatures, who are far more intelligent and tougher than we give them credit for. Monarch butterflies migrate thousands of miles each year from Canada to Mexico. Other species have learned how to fool ants into taking care of them. Butterflies’ scales are inspiring researchers to create new life-saving medical technology. Williams takes readers to butterfly habitats across the globe and introduces us to not only various species, but “digs deeply into the lives of both butterflies and [the] scientists” (Science magazine) who have spent decades studying them. Coupled with years of research and knowledge gained from experts in the field, this accessible “butterfly biography” explores the ancient partnership between these special creatures and humans, and why they continue to fascinate us today. “Informative, thought-provoking,” (BookPage, starred review) and extremely profound, The Language of Butterflies is a “fascinating book [that] will be of interest to anyone who has ever admired a butterfly, and anyone who cares about preserving these stunning creatures” (Library Journal).

  • Author : Anurag Agrawal

Download or read book Monarchs and Milkweed written by Anurag Agrawal and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2017-03-28 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fascinating and complex evolutionary relationship of the monarch butterfly and the milkweed plant Monarch butterflies are one of nature's most recognizable creatures, known for their bright colors and epic annual migration from the United States and Canada to Mexico. Yet there is much more to the monarch than its distinctive presence and mythic journeying. In Monarchs and Milkweed, Anurag Agrawal presents a vivid investigation into how the monarch butterfly has evolved closely alongside the milkweed—a toxic plant named for the sticky white substance emitted when its leaves are damaged—and how this inextricable and intimate relationship has been like an arms race over the millennia, a battle of exploitation and defense between two fascinating species. The monarch life cycle begins each spring when it deposits eggs on milkweed leaves. But this dependency of monarchs on milkweeds as food is not reciprocated, and milkweeds do all they can to poison or thwart the young monarchs. Agrawal delves into major scientific discoveries, including his own pioneering research, and traces how plant poisons have not only shaped monarch-milkweed interactions but have also been culturally important for centuries. Agrawal presents current ideas regarding the recent decline in monarch populations, including habitat destruction, increased winter storms, and lack of milkweed—the last one a theory that the author rejects. He evaluates the current sustainability of monarchs and reveals a novel explanation for their plummeting numbers. Lavishly illustrated with more than eighty color photos and images, Monarchs and Milkweed takes readers on an unforgettable exploration of one of nature's most important and sophisticated evolutionary relationships.
