Book excerpt: A book of modern mysticism about rediscovering the true meaning of faith and how to reclaim our spiritual wisdom. Light on Fire is the soulful exploration of one woman's journey to awakening and becoming a modern-day Christian mystic. It's a compassionate guide that will support others on the path to awakening by offering new insights and practical guidance on how to reconnect with our innate spirituality. In her search to understand her own spontaneous awakening, Aedamar discovered that awakening is a natural life process from which we have become estranged. In beautifully poetic language, and through accessible philosophy, Aedamar shares how and why we are designed to wake up, and to experience Divine Union, in the ordinary course of life. Waking up is what is now needed to heal ourselves and the deeply rooted traumas of Western society. Light on Fire concludes with 'The Path of Gold', Aedamar's seven-stage guide to awakening that offers a model for rediscovering Divine Love in everyday life. It helps us to reconnect with our spiritual wisdom, which is critical as we enter a new era that uniquely calls us to mysticism and to love.

It was during this time that Swami Rama astonished physiologists by demonstrating perfect control over his heart rate and brain waves--something Western scientists didn't believe humans could possibly achieve. In this book, Swami Rama shares some of the basic breathing techniques practiced by Himalayan yogis, so that you too can experience the profound effects of pranayama and breath control. The goal of Science of Breath is to present knowledge and practices regarding the breath in a way that can be applied to personal growth. This book is a masterful guide to systematically identifying bad breathing habits, replacing those habits with healthy breathing patterns, and developing control over pranic flow. Learn how to develop and master the link between your body and mind through the understanding of the breath. With increased awareness and control of the subtle aspects of breathing, one can effect deep physical and psychological changes and begin to master the roaming tendencies of the mind. Science of Breath opens the door to a new way of being, providing a powerful tool in the pursuit of holistic health and personal growth.

Book Development of an Automated Breathing and Metabolic Simulator

Download or read book Development of an Automated Breathing and Metabolic Simulator written by Nicholas Kyriazi and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bureau of Mines has been developing breathing and metabolic simulator technology since 1970. Breathing simulation has been widely achieved throughout the world and used in the testing of open-circuit breathing apparatus, but satisfactory metabolism simulation has not been achieved. This situation required that the testing of closed-circuit breathing apparatus, which are the only type used in mines, be done using human test subjects. The goal was a machine that could accurately simulate both the breathing and the metabolic functions of a human being for testing of closed-circuit breathing apparatus. The advantages of using such a machine instead of a human being for testing respiratory protective devices lie in its ability to quantify metabolic input, its repeatability, and the lack of a need to deal with the vagaries of human subjects. This report will describe the breathing and metabolic simulators that have been developed and used by the Bureau over the past 15 yr.
