Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Bucks of Wethersfield Connecticut and the Families With Which They Are Connected by Marriage: A Biographical and Genealogical Sketch As these genealogical and biographical notes have been written chiefly for the enlightenment of my children and grandchildren, and only in a subordinate degree for that of my nearest Buck and Abbott relatives, I have expressed myself with rather more freedom than I should consider suitable for a document intended for a wider circulation. The chief sources from which I have drawn my information are the following: - A genealogical record of the Bucks prepared by the late Roswell R. Buck, of Buffalo, New York; a similar record of the Manwaring family, prepared by Dr. Howard M. Buck, of Boston, Massachusetts; the archives of the City of Geneva, Switerland; the register of births at the City Hall of Landau, Germany; the register of births, marriages and deaths kept by the Evangelical Church of Kunzelsau, in Wurttemberg; genealogical and biographical memoranda prepared for me by mother about ten years before her death; and the reminiscences of Albert Henri Wolff, which his son Philippe wrote for me in 1896. As for the other sources of information, I believe that I have mentioned them all in their proper places in the course of my narrative.
