Book excerpt: Are you on a fast track to nowhere, running from life's alligators, watching dreams vaporize, or crashing into yourself head-on? Are you sick of Mondays, easy-believisms, shallow relationships, self-help books, broken promises, and dead religion? We all need hope and help in our search for identity, purpose, love, and spirituality. Truth can be hard to see, but freeing to find. If you feel empty, afraid, uptight, or alone...these pages lead you in victory's miraculous dance with life, love, and God. Written by a farm boy who's been there, walked across America twice, braved Afghanistan's war zones, sat with foreign dignitaries, survived near-fatal wrecks, and confronted fear to defend the powerless and declare Love's practical message...

How did the ordinary an unopened letter, a homeless couple, tennis, swimming, horses, a corrupt friend, and a deck of cards change the unknown to the known, the hunted to ...? This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

  • Pages : 236 pages

Download or read book The Unknown written by Gary Jarvis and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some regarded him as the father of modern space travel. Yet first attempt at building an interstellar gateway cost him his life and ended in disaster, his machine destroyed. Those that followed learnt from his mistakes and in time they produced a working gateway. However, few understood the full consequences of that first failed attempt at linking to a fourth space dimension. For a gateway had been opened, a gateway to a far darker realm than the one the scientist had aimed for, and a ripple of evil was cast out across time. A few centuries later in 2210, a group of nine travellers are sent on a rescue mission to find a missing ship lost in the outer regions of the known universe. As they near the stricken and now apparently deserted vessel, ghostly occurrences start to haunt the crew and soon they are drawn into a deadly game with the curse created with the scientist's fateful experiment. The travellers, however, are not the first to experience the wrath of this curse for it has plagued mankind for centuries, first surfacing in the early part of the 17th century when an enslaved voodoo priest is found to have powers far beyond his humble earthly beginnings. Then in 1932, a luxury cruise liner sinks under mysterious circumstances with all lives lost. The puzzle of its loss remains hidden until, in 2001, a diving team investigating the wreck is attacked by an unseen wraith. Now, deep in space, far from any help, the group of rescuers must succeed where others over the centuries have failed and end the nightmare that began with one scientist's small step into THE UNKNOWN.

Book The Unknown Industrial Prisoner

Download or read book The Unknown Industrial Prisoner written by David Ireland and published by Text Publishing. This book was released on 2013-06-26 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the Miles Franklin Award in 1971. On the shores of Botany Bay lies an oil refinery where workers are free to come and go. But they are also part of an unrelenting, alienating economy from which there is no escape. In the first of his three Miles Franklin Award-winning novels, originally published in 1971, David Ireland offers a fiercely brilliant comic portrait of Australia in the grip of a dehumanising labour system. This edition of The Unknown Industrial Prisoner comes with an introduction by Peter Pierce. David Ireland was born in 1927 on a kitchen table in Lakemba in south-western Sydney. He lived in many places and worked at many jobs, including greenskeeper, factory hand, and for an extended period in an oil refinery, before he became a full-time writer. Ireland started out writing poetry and drama but then turned to fiction. His first novel, The Chantic Bird, was published in 1968. In the next decade he published five further novels, three of which won the Miles Franklin Award: The Unknown Industrial Prisoner, The Glass Canoe and A Woman of the Future. David Ireland was made a member of the Order of Australia in 1981. In 1985 he received the Australian Literature Society Gold Medal for his novel Archimedes and the Seagull. textclassics.com.au 'A harsh and remarkable work...it will leave you shaken mildly or terribly according to your life experience.' National Times 'When I think of my favourite Australian novels, two 1970s works by David Ireland are near the top of the list: The Unknown Industrial Prisoner and The Glass Canoe.' Stephen Romei

Book Pedaling into the Unknown

Download or read book Pedaling into the Unknown written by Sally Fenner and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2023-03-03 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grief was gnawing at me, trapping my body in a cycle of pain with no offer of relief, making me restless and not letting me go. I desired liberosis, to care less about things. I desperately sought inner and outer liberation. I was having sleepless nights. My soul knew the solution, but my body was not listening until the moment came when I just longed to leave. I wished to free myself from this situation, wipe it from my being, and surround myself with the wilderness. The wilderness was my church, where I went to heal my hurt. It understood me. Bathed in nature, I rid my mind of unpleasant thoughts and eased myself of the injustices that had incapacitated me, depriving me of peace. The only energy I had left in me, I used to leave, just go and be free. The wilderness enabled me to breathe once more, to really breathe, and when you own your own breath, no one can steal your peace! And so the adventure began, mountain biking from Canada to Mexico off-road, climbing a total elevation higher than Mt. Everest and escaping predators – for my honeymoon!

Book The Unknown Mysterious Cowboy

Download or read book The Unknown Mysterious Cowboy written by Norman Nye and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2023-04-28 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wasn’t really scared until they lifted me from my horse. They didn’t touch me, but they seemed to control everything. I floated from my horse, and I felt nothing. I think if they were intending to kill me they would have already. I counted nine of them, whatever they were. I could see they were moving towards the circle, and as the circle got closer I could just make out a door opening. I could see through the circle as if it were made of glass; as I was taken into the circle I could see many more of them. They were using some kind of flashing table squares. Every time the squares changed colour they used one of their arm-type things to touch the square to change it. I floated further along and could see many more of them using squares on the wall. Just past the squares on the wall I started moving sideways and ended up on a table. I still couldn’t move any part of my body. They removed my gun belt. The belt just undid itself and laid out on a side table. In the end, I had all my clothes removed. None of them touched me, it was as though my clothes had a mind of their own.
