Whatever anticipations of our ecclesiastical theories may be found in writers of an earlier date, it is to them that we owe the practical recovery and re rival of the principles which, according to a long line of Congregational apologists, I have the impression that copies of some of the early 'brownist' books might be found in the episcopal libraries and among the records of some of the eastern dioceses.
