At the commence ment there was noticed a kerion lesion rather larger than a shilling piece on the right side of the back of the neck, and later there developed twenty-five larger and smaller raised lesions spread chiefly about the neck, with also some single lesions about the hair margin of the forehead. Microscopical examination showed a close covering of spores outside, with long chains of cubical and oval spores inside the hairs. In our experience the latter test is easier to read and I think will be found more reliable.In this series of 87 sera, there were 59 who gave a history of syphilis or had luetic lesions; practically all were under treatment. All these sera gave positive 'wassermann reactions, while only 47 gave positive Gel tests.
