Book The Bridge from Onedaybow

Download or read book The Bridge from Onedaybow written by Kathy M. Warden and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-08-01 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bridge from OneDayBow is a fictional and poetic portrayal of the Gospel. It is clever and entertaining, and yet illustrates some of the deception, moral corruption, and decay that is now and has affected societies since the garden. It exposes the battle we face and reveals the means provided to stand in His mighty strength, while we wait for our coming salvation. If the Lord tarries, I would not be surprised if it became one of the great Christian classics in the genre of Pilgrims Progress. Young and old will enjoy this book, and perhaps some will cross the bridge to the King and be saved. Pastor Nick Triveri Senior Pastor, Calvary Chapel Placerville Truth doesnt matter to most people in HereAndNowat least not much. And the idea of an absolute Truth, with real Authority behind it, is well, best not to even mention. But, if there really is a King, and a Bridge built by His Son that leads to OneDayBow, that could change everything for Tim! In HereAndNow everyone is encouraged to collect bobbles, for their own good and the benefit of all societyor so the tempters say. But, whats a bobble worth, really? And why are they important to the tower and the future of humanity? Tim spent his young life pursuing bobbles in hopes of winning the Great Bobble Game. Though no one knows how many it takes to win, or what the prize actually is, you sure dont want to reach the citys end without having the most! The tempters will be the first to tell you that but, tempters cant be trusted... And all this makes Tim wonder why the tempters are so interested in his nooma, and willing to pay so much for it. Tim needs to know the Truth. Is the answer on the other side of the Bridge? One thing Tim is certain of: There must be more to life than bobbles.

  • Author : Martin Sicker
  • Publisher : iUniverse

  • ISBN : 0595446159
  • Pages : 204 pages

Download or read book Jacob and His Sons written by Martin Sicker and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2007 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sagas of Jacob and his sons are presented in the biblical book of Genesis in a series of sometimes seemingly unrelated episodes. In this book, the author undertakes to show that these episodes are all intimately connected and were selected to illustrate the problems faced by Jacob in coping with the sibling rivalries among his dozen sons and welding them into a collective body capable of giving birth to a nation. The focus in Jacob and His Sons is on what the biblical text is telling us, explicitly as well as implicitly, about the world in which they lived and how the historical conditions came into being for them ultimately to become transformed into a nation. In the struggle to comprehend the biblical text, the author has consulted a wide range of commentaries and studies written over a period of some two millennia that have sought to understand the biblical texts from a wide variety of perspectives, many of which are presented for the reader's consideration, including many sources inaccessible to those without a working knowledge of Hebrew.

Book Reading the Pentateuch Politically from Abraham to Moses

Download or read book Reading the Pentateuch Politically from Abraham to Moses written by Dr. Martin Sicker and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2022-05-26 with total page 665 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a continuation of an earlier work, Reading Genesis Politically, the primary focus of which is the first ten chapters of the much larger book of Genesis. The present study begins with chapter eleven of Genesis which introduces the story of the emergence of Abraham, the iconic founder of the Jewish nation and Judaic civilization. As indicated by the title of the present study its primary concern is with the prehistory of ancient Israel. The sole source of information about Israel’s national origins is imbedded in the Pentateuch, the five books of the Torah, in which the birth of Israel is portrayed as part of a divine plan for the betterment of mankind. As a result, its prehistory beginning with Abraham and concluding with Moses is necessarily theopolitical in nature, reflecting the critical divine role in its formation. There are of course virtually innumerable studies of the Pentateuchal narratives that address the roles of the Patriarchs in preserving the religious heritage of Abraham until its culmination in the work of Moses. However, there are very few studies that direct attention to the necessarily socio-political aspects of the narratives that establish the basis for the ultimate emergence of a viable but querulous nation out of what the biblical text repeatedly terms “a stiff-necked people,” primarily related by common ethnicity as descendants of the Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Book The Life of Yogananda

Download or read book The Life of Yogananda written by Philip Goldber and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He was called "the 20th century’s first superstar guru" (Los Angeles Times), and today, nearly a century after he arrived in the United States, he’s still the best known and most beloved of all the Indian spiritual teachers who have come to the West. Now, finally, Paramahansa Yogananda has the authoritative biography he deserves.Yogananda, considered by many to be the father of modern yoga, has had an unsurpassed global impact thanks to the durability of his teachings, the institutions he created or inspired, and especially his iconic memoir, Autobiography of a Yogi.Since its publication in 1946, that book has sold millions of copies and changed millions of lives. But it doesn’t tell the whole story.Much of Yogananda’s seminal text is devoted to tales about other people, and it largely overlooks the three vital decades he spent living, working, and teaching in America. Huge chunks of his life—challenges, controversies, and crises; triumphs, relationships, and formative experiences—remain unknown to even his most ardent devotees. In this captivating biography, scholar and teacher Philip Goldberg fills the gaps, charting a journey that spanned six decades, two hemispheres, two world wars, and unprecedented social changes. The result is an objective, thoroughly researched account of Yogananda’s remarkable life in all its detail, nuance, and complex humanity. But this is more than a compelling life story. "Yogananda would, I believe, want any book about him to not only inform but transform," Goldberg writes. "It is my hope that readers will be enriched, expanded, and deepened by this humble offering." That is sure to be the case for both Yogananda enthusiasts and those who discover him for the first time in these illuminating pages.

Download or read book Our Father written by Richard Coekin and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2012-12-17 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our Father in heaven Hallowed be your name ...' When Jesus' disciples asked him for help with prayer, he gave them a beautifully simple but spiritually profound outline known as the Lord's Prayer. This utterly extraordinary prayer has been cherished by Christians everywhere and always. In it, our Saviour has brilliantly summarized the kinds of requests that God most delights to answer. Jesus knew that, when we struggle to pray, we need, far more than techniques and challenges, a fresh appreciation of God. We need to glimpse his magnificent character and plans. As we see the Father described in Jesus' prayer, we find ourselves lifted in wonder to delight in him. Our cold hearts are warmed and our stifled tongues released to pray. The Lord's Prayer, and so this book, is all about enjoying God. Says the author, 'I find the Lord's Prayer exhilarating. It has been a lifeline from God, dragging my proud heart to him. I couldn't survive without it.'
