The cyst cavity appears as a black area on the nega tive, because it decreases the resistance, which in normal bone conditions, is put in the way of the rays. The bone immediately surrounding the cavity, however, is cortical and dense, and so we find the typical picture of a cyst show ing a light, but distinct surrounding line. This is well shown in Figures 4, 5, 6, 12 and 14. To diagnose cysts in the antrum, both frontal and side plates are necessary.
