Book excerpt: THE BLIND SHALL SEE This adventure/fantasy is an intellectual's delight concerning a Queen of fairies and her civilization seeking aid from the village of "Morbidity" that has captured the picture perfect ideal of how to live with one another. The vampire Honoree, and his brood that dwells in caves is tired of feeding on animals, yet must renew every full moon with the town of "Morbidity" a pact that they will not feed on any villager and drink the dark water of the blood of the sacrifice of a bull to seal the agreement. War looms on the outskirts of the village, that has known only peace, for their God Noram has betrayed them and the spirit of the trees they have relied on has becomes his lover. Intellectual arguments surface between the fairy queen and the elder sanctified one as to the best way to live a moral life that is not ripe with suffering. Power and ego surface as the dragon weeps tears for his army that they not go into battle against a race of perfect men, and the dragon's god Amness pleads that the two armies surrender to one another before going into battle and surprisingly, they do. What is revealed at the surrender is that in just about every little thing they hated one another for, they possessed as well. The sanctified one reveals to the fairy queen, that only through surrender can a vision be realized, can reality be accurately witnessed, but to do this thing was often quite costly.

Book Enlightenment Romanticism and the Blind in France

Download or read book Enlightenment Romanticism and the Blind in France written by William R. Paulson and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paulson examines literary, philosophical, and pedagogical writing on blindness in France from the Enlightenment, when philosophical speculation and surgical cures for cataracts demystified the difference between the blind and the sighted, to the nineteenth century, when the literary figure of the blind bard or seer linked blindness with genius, madness, and narrative art. A major theme of the book is the effect of blindness on the use of language and sign systems: the philosophes were concerned at first with understanding the doctrine of innate ideas, rather than with understanding blindness as such. Originally published in 1987. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Book The Gospel According to John

Download or read book The Gospel According to John written by D. A. Carson and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 1991 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This commentary seeks above all to explain the text of John's Gospel to those whose privilege and responsibility it is to minister the Word of God to others, to preach and to lead Bible studies. I have tried to include the kind of information they need to know, but to do so in such a way that the informed layperson could also use the work in personal study of the Bible, exclusively for purposes of personal growth in edification and understanding. In particular, I have attempted: (1) To make clear the flow of the text. (2) To engage a small but representative part of the massive secondary literature on John. (3) To draw a few lines towards establishing how the Fourth Gospel contributes to biblical and systematic theology. (4) To offer a consistent exposition of John's Gospel as an evangelistic Gospel. - Preface.

Book The Blind Watch

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jack E. Brush
  • Publisher : LIT Verlag Münster
  • Release :
  • ISBN : 3643913958
  • Pages : pages

Download or read book The Blind Watch written by Jack E. Brush and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Blind Watch has a twofold purpose. Firstly, it aims to expose some of the salient inadequacies and fallacies of modern atheism. Secondly, and more fundamentally, it is intended to expand our thinking about nature in general and about the meaning of nature for a Christian understanding of human beings. For systematic reasons, the book focuses on Richard Dawkins' The Blind Watchmaker, which has become a classic on modern atheism. In contrast to Dawkins' work, the present book describes the watch, i.e. the atheistic scientist, not the watchmaker, as “blind”, insofar as the scientist calculates everything, but sees very little. By confronting the atheism of Dawkins with the philosophical (Heraclitus and the Stoics) and the theological (the Apostle Paul and Augustine) traditions, the book develops a fundamental understanding of nature as nature that leads to a definition of life quite different from that of the evolutionary biologists.

Book A Stranger in the House of God

Download or read book A Stranger in the House of God written by John Koessler and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-08-30 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up the son of agnostics, John Koessler saw a Catholic church on one end of the street and a Baptist on the other. In the no-man’s land between the two, this curious outside wondered about the God they worshipped—and began a lifelong search to comprehend the grace and mystery of God. A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith
