Book Bill Nye s Western Humor

Download or read book Bill Nye s Western Humor written by Bill Nye and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 1968-01-01 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although Bill Nye (1850-1896) was America's best known humorist in the late 1880's and early 1890's, his work is little known today--his books long out of print and his columns yellowing in newspaper files. Now T. A. Larson, a dyed-in-the-wool Nye fan for more than thirty years, has assembled the best of Bill Nye's work, most of it dating from the seven Wyoming years when Nye made his name. The selections are chosen from Laramie, Cheyenne, and Denver newspapers and from six books published in the 1890's. The resulting collection is both good fun and a valuable picture of a lively period.

Book Everything All at Once

Download or read book Everything All at Once written by Bill Nye and published by Rodale. This book was released on 2017-07-11 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the New York Times bestseller Everything All at Once, Bill Nye shows you how thinking like a nerd is the key to changing yourself and the world around you. Everyone has an inner nerd just waiting to be awakened by the right passion. In Everything All at Once, Bill Nye will help you find yours. With his call to arms, he wants you to examine every detail of the most difficult problems that look unsolvable—that is, until you find the solution. Bill shows you how to develop critical thinking skills and create change, using his “everything all at once” approach that leaves no stone unturned. Whether addressing climate change, the future of our society as a whole, or personal success, or stripping away the mystery of fire walking, there are certain strategies that get results: looking at the world with relentless curiosity, being driven by a desire for a better future, and being willing to take the actions needed to make change happen. He shares how he came to create this approach—starting with his Boy Scout training (it turns out that a practical understanding of science and engineering is immensely helpful in a capsizing canoe) and moving through the lessons he learned as a full-time engineer at Boeing, a stand-up comedian, CEO of The Planetary Society, and, of course, as Bill Nye The Science Guy. This is the story of how Bill Nye became Bill Nye and how he became a champion of change and an advocate of science. It’s how he became The Science Guy. Bill teaches us that we have the power to make real change. Join him in… dare we say it… changing the world.

This book was released on 2018-06-25 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comic History of the United States Bill Nye CHAPTER I. THE DISCOVERY OF AMERICA. It was a beautiful evening at the close of a warm, luscious day in old Spain. It was such an evening as one would select for trysting purposes. The honeysuckle gave out the sweet announcement of its arrival on the summer breeze, and the bulbul sang in the dark vistas of olive-trees, -sang of his love and his hope, and of the victory he anticipated in the morrow's bulbul-fight, and the plaudits of the royal couple who would be there. The pink west paled away to the touch of twilight, and the soft zenith was sown with stars coming like celestial fire-flies on the breast of a mighty meadow. Across the dusk, with bowed head, came a woman. Her air was one of proud humility. It was the air of royalty in the presence of an overruling power. It was Isabella. She was on her way to confession. She carried a large, beautifully-bound volume containing a memorandum of her sins for the day. Ever and anon she would refer to it, but the twilight had come on so fast that she could not read it. Book A Humorous History of the United States

Download or read book A Humorous History of the United States written by Edgar Wilson Nye and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2008-06-30 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the biography of Mr. Nye to the right side of this page indicates, it's very possible that he might have been an influence on the producers of humorous history films like Mel Brooks' "History of the World." Nye starts the book with a letter delivered to Queen Isabella of Spain, advising her that if she grows tired of her current staff 'discover, ' that a new one named Chris is recommended. Ultimately, she decided to put up a couple of bucks for this young fellow, and the rest is, well... you know. From what Nye tells us, "America had many other discoverers besides Columbus, but he seems to have made more satisfactory arrangements with the historians that any of the other." Having set the tone with those first two chapters, Nye continues to chronicle the growth of this great country all the way up the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, when the country was so fully developed that there probably wouldn't be room for much more improvement.
