He enlisted into the military at Beverly, Massachuessetts in January 1776. Magnus married Serviah Langley in 1780. After Serviah died , he married Sarah Trowbridge. He was the father of at least nine known children. Descendants lived primarily in Maine, Michigan, Kansas and elsewhere.
