Book Guidance on the Personal Monitoring Requirements for Personnel Working in Healthcare

Download or read book Guidance on the Personal Monitoring Requirements for Personnel Working in Healthcare written by Colin John Martin and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arrangements for personal monitoring have evolved as dose limits and practices using radiation have developed. Therefore, new approaches involving more personal dosimetry are required, and methods are needed that can be used to predict probable dose levels so that risk assessments can be prepared to determine the level of dose monitoring for individual staff members. The authors set out recommendations designed to help radiation protection practitioners and healthcare workers assess exposure levels for personnel and determine monitoring requirements based on established rules. This book is essential reading for medical physicists in radiation protection, diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine, as well as radiographers and technologists due to changes in global dosimetry requirements. Additionally, it presents guidelines for medical physicists and others using radiation. Part of IPEM-IOP Series in Physics and Engineering in Medicine and Biology.

Book Occupational Health and Workplace Monitoring at Chemical Agent Disposal Facilities

Download or read book Occupational Health and Workplace Monitoring at Chemical Agent Disposal Facilities written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2001-02-01 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In keeping with a congressional mandate (Public Law 104-484) and the Chemical Weapons Convention, the United States is currently destroying its chemical weapons stockpile. The Army must ensure that the chemical demilitarization workforce is protected from the risks of exposure to hazardous chemicals during disposal operations and during and after facility closure. Good industrial practices developed in the chemical and nuclear energy industries and other operations that involve the processing of hazardous materials include workplace monitoring of hazardous species and a systematic occupational health program for monitoring workers' activities and health. In this report, the National Research Council Committee on Review and Evaluation of the Army Chemical Stockpile Disposal Program examines the methods and systems used at JACADS and TOCDF, the two operational facilities, to monitor the concentrations of airborne and condensed-phase chemical agents, agent breakdown products, and other substances of concern. The committee also reviews the occupational health programs at these sites, including their industrial hygiene and occupational medicine components. Finally, it evaluates the nature, quality, and utility of records of workplace chemical monitoring and occupational health programs.

Book Deriving Organ Doses for Medical Radiation Workers Using Personal Monitoring Data with a Focus on Lung

Download or read book Deriving Organ Doses for Medical Radiation Workers Using Personal Monitoring Data with a Focus on Lung written by and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The purpose of this Commentary is to describe an optimum approach for using personal monitoring data to estimate lung and other organ doses. The Commentary highlights specific precautions applicable to epidemiologic study of medical radiation workers. Such guidance is important as organ doses, along with associated epidemiologic analyses for both female and male populations are necessary to assist the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's need to assess sex-specific lung cancer risks and radiation limits currently in place for female astronauts noting differences between the medical and space radiation environments"--

Book Technical Code for Monitoring of Building Structures

Download or read book Technical Code for Monitoring of Building Structures written by Yang Yang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-30 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is used as a reference book for researcher and engineer of the world to learn the building monitoring standard of China for the first time, and is also be used as a reference manual for engineer to engage in practical monitoring projects. The standard for project construction of “Technical Code for Monitoring of Building Structures in Qinghai Province” is the first standard for building structure monitoring engineering in China, which integrates design, construction and acceptance of monitoring technique. It can be applied to any place in the world not limited to Qinghai. The standard specifies the warning thresholds for various building structure monitoring parameters. In the monitoring technology, advanced monitoring technologies such as structure group, cloud platform, and BIM are adopted. It has strong operability for monitoring building structures according to the requirement of the standard, provides technical support for ensuring the safety of building structure, and fills in the blank of building structure safety monitoring technology in high and cold high-altitude areas. It contains specific measures to implement housing security for the first time, which is one of the “two without worries and three guarantees” proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. It is also used as a reference book for senior undergraduate and graduate students in colleges and universities.
