Book excerpt: The Baron Trump novels are two children's novels written in 1889 and 1893 by American author and lawyer Ingersoll Lockwood. The novels were rediscovered in 2017 due to the similarities between the protagonist and U.S. President Donald Trump. Baron Trump, the protagonist, is precocious, restless, and has a knack for getting into trouble. He often references his enormous brain, and he has an insult ready for most people he meets. Trump lives in "Castle Trump" named after himself. The Last President is another novel by Lockwood concerned with the shocking victory of a populist candidate in the 1896 presidential election, who brings on the downfall of the American republic.

Book The Baron Trump Collection

Download or read book The Baron Trump Collection written by Lockwood Ingersoll and published by . This book was released on 2018-12-10 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection unites Ingersoll Lockwood's classic Baron Trump adventure stories in one volume. Filled with exotic flights of fancy, the Baron Trump tales feature the titular character - a wealthy boy who lives in Trump Castle. His actual name is Wilhelm Heinrich Sebastian Von Troomp, but for the sake of simplicity he chooses to go by his title of Baron Trump. The young fellow embarks on time travelling adventures through human history. Through his travels, he meets societies of people and tribes from long ago, picking up aspects of their language and social customs. Accompanied by his faithful and protective companion hound Bulger, the young Baron navigates a variety of adventures and surmounts many obstacles. The final book in this volume discusses the rise of a US President and has been variously described as either coincidental or prescient of aspects of the 21st century political climate. Set in an America torn by division and dissent, there are references to a hotel on Fifth Avenue in New York, and an election of an outsider candidate ensuing in a chaotic atmosphere. Ingersoll Lockwood was an author of many children's books and short stories. A veteran of the U.S. consular service, he began writing in the 1870s and attained fame and appreciation for his efforts.

Book Mechanical Design for the Stage

Download or read book Mechanical Design for the Stage written by Alan Hendrickson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-09-10 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scenic effects involving rotating turntables, tracking stage wagons, and the vertical movement of curtains and painted drops have become common in both Broadway and Regional theatre productions. The machines that drive these effects range from small pneumatic cylinders pushing loads of a few pounds an inch or two, to 40 horsepower winches running multi-ton scenery at speeds 6 feet per second or more. Usually this machinery is designed by theatre technicians specifically for a particular show's effect. Compared to general industry, this design process is short, often only a few days long, it is done by one person, design teams are rare, and it is done in the absence of reference material specifically addressing the issues involved. The main goal of this book is to remedy this last situation. Mechanical Design for the Stage will be a reference for you that will: * provide the basic engineering formulas needed to predict the forces, torques, speeds, and power required by a given move * give a technician a design process to follow which will direct their work from general concepts to specific detail as a design evolves, and * show many examples of traditional stage machinery designs. The book's emphasis will be on following standard engineering design and construction practices, and developing machines that are functional, efficient to build, easily maintained, and safe to use.
