William Mackenzie, author of the History of Galloway; John Mactaggart, author of the Gallovidian Encyclop dia, and Three Years in Canada; John Nicholson, publisher of The History of Galloway, and compiler of several works relating to Galloway History and Tradition; John Ramsay M'Culloch, the political economist, and others, will always hold an honourable place in the Literary History of the province.
