Book The Autobiography of A C Ramsey

Download or read book The Autobiography of A C Ramsey written by Abiezer Clark Ramsey and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-31 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Autobiography of A. C. Ramsey: School Teacher and Circuit Rider After searching for several years to find the location of this manuscript, it was finally located at the Archives in Montgomery, Alabama. The Mississippi Archives did not have a Copy. Nor did any of the Universities contacted. This lack of availability to the area it involves made me determined to make it available in printed form for those it concerned. The editing and annotating of this narrative was done in an informal fashion because the narrative did not lend it self well to formal footnotes. The writer had foot notes of his own on several pages. Therefore periodically a page of Editor's Notes was added. A serious effort was made to identify all Mississippi persons mentioned. Place's were located and maps added. Sources of further information were added also. It is hoped that the reader will enjoy the narrative as well as appreciate the vast amount of information within. It is truly an insight into the past, into the day to day life of our ancestors who braved the hardships to establish settlements in the pine country of southeastern Mississippi and southwestern Alabama. Keynes deferred to him; he was the only philosopher whom Wittgenstein treated as an equal. Had he lived he might have been recognized as the most brilliant thinker of the century. This amiable shambling bear of a man was an ardent socialist, a believer in free love, and an intimate of the Bloomsbury set. For the first time Cheryl Misak tells the full story of his extraordinary life.

Book The Other Side of Suffering

Download or read book The Other Side of Suffering written by John Ramsey and published by FaithWords. This book was released on 2012-03-14 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The untold story of how John Ramsey survived unspeakable tragedy and learned to hope again. Like the biblical Job, John Ramsey had it all-wealthy, social position, a loving family. And like Job, Ramsey was destined for great affliction, as many of the most precious things in his life were cruelly taken from him. First came the death of his eldest daughter in a car accident in 1992. Then, four years later, his beloved six-year-old, JonBenét, was murdered; Ramsey was the one who discovered her body, concealed in the basement of his family's home. The case drew international media attention, and-compounding Ramsey's woe-suspicion unfairly focused on Ramsey and his wife, Patsy. Although they were ultimately cleared of any connection with the crime, Ramsey's sorrows did not end. In 2006, Patsy died, at 49, of ovarian cancer. In this remarkable book, Ramsey reveals how he was sustained by faith during the long period of spiritual darkness, and he offers hope and encouragement to others who suffer tragedy and injustice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the early years of the U.S. republic, its vital southwestern quadrant - encompassing the modern-day states between South Carolina and Louisiana - experienced nearly unceasing conflict. In The Old Southwest, 1795-1830: Frontiers in Conflict, historians Thomas D. Clark and John D. W. Guice analyze the many disputes that resulted when the United States pushed aside a hundred thousand Indians and overtook the final vestiges of Spanish, French, and British presence in the wilderness. Leaders such as Andrew Jackson, who emerged during the Creek War, introduced new policies of Indian removal and state making, along with a decided willingness to let adventurous settlers open up the new territories as a part of the Manifest Destiny of a growing country.

Book Prison Writings

Download or read book Prison Writings written by Leonard Peltier and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2016-04-12 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In September of 2022, twenty-five years after Leonard Peltier received a life sentence for the murder of two FBI agents, the DNC unanimously passed a resolution urging President Joe Biden to release him. Peltier has affirmed his innocence ever since his sentencing in 1977--his case was made fully and famously in Peter Matthiessen's bestselling In the Spirit of Crazy Horse--and many remain convinced he was wrongly convicted. Prison Writings is a wise and unsettling book, both memoir and manifesto, chronicling his life in Leavenworth Prison in Kansas. Invoking the Sun Dance, in which pain leads one to a transcendent reality, Peltier explores his suffering and the insights it has borne him. He also locates his experience within the history of the American Indian peoples and their struggles to overcome the federal government's injustices. Edited by Harvey Arden, with an Introduction by Chief Arvol Looking Horse, and a Preface by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark.
