Book excerpt: Is God a Woman? Named as one of the 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People by Watkins Mind Body Spirit, Zinovia Dushkova, Ph.D., continues to reveal sacred texts that have been immortalized in the secret depositories of Shambhala. This time her new work represents a synthesis from the pages of the Book of Dzyan and the Book of Fiery Destinies, which tell about the creation of our world by Woman - the Goddess Lakshmi, who is known in Gnostic Christianity as Sophia, the bride of Christ. The Ascending Goddess will allow you a glimpse into those distant times when our planet was still in the process of creation. The Divine Man and Woman - Christ and Sophia, inseparably united in the Heavens - turned their gaze to the Earth with the aim of sowing the seed of Love there. So the Woman was the first to descend to the planet - not only to breathe life into it, but also to prepare the soil in human hearts for the Coming of her beloved Man. Elucidating the path of Lakshmi on the Earth, The Ascending Goddess will help you understand in a new way the spiritual path which every woman is destined to traverse, along with the rest of our planet's humanity. This book will fundamentally change your attitude towards so-called wrathful Deities and will also tell you about the structure of the Hierarchy of Light, revealing the secret purpose for the descent of the Supreme Gods from the Heavens and their lives among ordinary people - even today! Book The Many Faces of a Himalayan Goddess

Download or read book The Many Faces of a Himalayan Goddess written by Ehud Halperin and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hadimba is a primary village goddess in the Kullu Valley of the West Indian Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, a rural area known as the Land of Gods. As the book shows, Hadimba is a goddess whose vitality reveals itself in her devotees' rapidly changing encounters with local and far from local players, powers, and ideas. These include invading royal forces, colonial forms of knowledge, and more recently the onslaught of modernity, capitalism, tourism, and ecological change. Hadimba has provided her worshipers with discursive, ritual, and ideological arenas within which they reflect on, debate, give meaning to, and sometimes resist these changing realities, and she herself has been transformed in the process. Drawing on diverse ethnographic and textual materials gathered in the region from 2009 to 2017, The Many Faces of a Himalayan Goddess is rich with myths and tales, accounts of dramatic rituals and festivals, and descriptions of everyday life in the celebrated but remote Kullu Valley. The book employs an interdisciplinary approach to tell the story of Hadimba from the ground up, or rather, from the center out, portraying the goddess in varying contexts that radiate outward from her temple to local, regional, national, and indeed global spheres. The result is an important contribution to the study of Indian village goddesses, lived Hinduism, Himalayan Hinduism, and the rapidly growing field of religion and ecology.

Book The Galactic Goddess

Download or read book The Galactic Goddess written by Radhaa Nilia and published by Galactic Goddess. This book was released on 2019-03-18 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Galactic Goddess - Ascending Beyond Duality is a heartfelt, intensely honest and intimate memoir: the story of an awakening starseed and her adventures in duality. A 5th generation Shaman, Radhaa lived in the isolated and magical mountains of the Cordilleras as a young girl. Amnesia kicked in at the age of five as she was faced with the ruptures of her east meets west bloodlines. Thrown into unusual life circumstances, her portal to the Divine slowly closed down leading her into the path of duality. The underworld exploration included everything from joining a cult to drug-induced nights at the Playboy mansion, the rape culture of Hollywood, and coming face to face with the False Goddess that seemed inherently part of the American dream. This dark path led her to rock bottom. The abuse, betrayal and the dark night of the soul eventually revealed the realm of sacred as a refuge, into her awakening. This experience opened up the door to otherworldly visits by Starbeings. Radhaa's galactic connection deepened her realization of her Starseed roots. Through these high-frequency interactions, the Divine and dormant memories kicked in, along with the cosmic codes. She allowed in the visceral remembering of her past lives, discovering how to weave timelines from her past, present, and future. This activated the key to her Akashic Records which allowed her to heal lineage, heart, soul and karmic soul wounds through the alchemy of ancient arts interwoven with raw, real, vivid and gritty storytelling. Exquisite, enthralling, and at times earth-shattering, this shameless wisdom keeper calls you to dive into these revealing and authentic stories so that you can find the reflection of your own knowledge as you drink in the marvels, visions, and lessons put forward in the pages of this book. You too can rise to the occasion from the timeless lessons you will learn and ascend beyond your own duality. Are you ready?

Book On the Syrian Goddess

Download or read book On the Syrian Goddess written by Lucian of Samosata and published by e-artnow. This book was released on 2022-01-04 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the Syrian Goddess is a Greek treatise of the second century AD which describes religious cults practiced at the temple of Hierapolis Bambyce, now Manbij, in Syria. Not only does it acknowledge that at one time a paramount Goddess was worshipped in the regions of the Ancient Near East, it goes into detail of the practices of her devotees which later generations considered reprehensible. The book describes the worship as being of a phallic character, with votaries offering little male figures of wood and bronze. There were also huge phalli set up like obelisks before the temple, which were ceremoniously climbed once a year and decorated. The treatise begins with a re-telling of the Atrahasis flood myth where floodwaters are drained through a small cleft in the rock under the temple. Nonetheless, On the Syrian Goddess played an important role in the development of modern Neopaganism.

Download or read book Receptacle of the Sacred written by Jinah Kim and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2013-04-12 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In considering medieval illustrated Buddhist manuscripts as sacred objects of cultic innovation, Receptacle of the Sacred explores how and why the South Asian Buddhist book-cult has survived for almost two millennia to the present. A book “manuscript” should be understood as a form of sacred space: a temple in microcosm, not only imbued with divine presence but also layered with the memories of many generations of users. Jinah Kim argues that illustrating a manuscript with Buddhist imagery not only empowered it as a three-dimensional sacred object, but also made it a suitable tool for the spiritual transformation of medieval Indian practitioners. Through a detailed historical analysis of Sanskrit colophons on patronage, production, and use of illustrated manuscripts, she suggests that while Buddhism’s disappearance in eastern India was a slow and gradual process, the Buddhist book-cult played an important role in sustaining its identity. In addition, by examining the physical traces left by later Nepalese users and the contemporary ritual use of the book in Nepal, Kim shows how human agency was critical in perpetuating and intensifying the potency of a manuscript as a sacred object throughout time.

Download or read book The Song of the Goddess written by and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Devi Gita, literally the "Song of the Goddess," is an Eastern spiritual classic that appeared around the fifteenth century C.E. C. Mackenzie Brown provides a reader-friendly English translation of this sacred text taken from his well-regarded previous book The Devi Gita: The Song of the Goddess, A Translation, Annotation, and Commentary. Here the translation is presented uninterrupted, without the scholarly annotations of the original version, and in its entirety for the pleasure of all readers who wish to encounter this treasure from the world's sacred literature. Often neglected, the Devi Gita deserves to be better known for its presentations of one of the great Hindu visions of the divine conceived in feminine terms. The work depicts the universe as created, pervaded, and protected by a supremely powerful, all-knowing, and wholly compassionate divine female. It also describes the various spiritual paths leading to realization of unity with the Goddess. The author of the Devi Gita intended for the work to supplant the famous teachings of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita (the "Song of the Lord") from a goddess-inspired perspective.

Book Iconographic Exegesis of the Hebrew Bible Old Testament

Download or read book Iconographic Exegesis of the Hebrew Bible Old Testament written by Izaak J. de Hulster and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2015-10-28 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iconographic exegesis combines the study of biblical texts (exegesis) with the study of ancient expressions of visual art (iconography).Studying ancient visual art that is contemporary with the documents of the Old Testament gives remarkable insight, not only on the meaning and historical context of the biblical text, but also because it facilitates greater understanding of how the ancient authors and audiences saw, thought, and made sense of the world. Iconography thus merits close attention as another avenue that can lead to a more nuanced and more complete understanding of the biblical text. Each chapter of this book provides an exegesis of a particular biblical text or theme. The book is organized around the tripartite structure of the Hebrew Bible, and demonstrates that iconographical exegesis is pertinent to "every nook and cranny" of the Bible.Within the three parts, there is special emphasis on Genesis, Isaiah, and the Psalms in order to make the book attractive for classes that deal with one or more of these books and might therefore include an iconographic perspective. In addition to connecting with a major issue in biblical interpretation, theology, or visual studies each chapter will end with one or two exercises directing the reader/student to comparable texts and images, enabling them to apply what was described in the chapter for themselves. This approach enables beginners as well as advanced readers to integrate iconography into their toolbox of exegetical skills.
