Download or read book The Art of Dyeing Wool Silk and Cotton Classic Reprint written by M. Hellot and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Art of Dyeing Wool, Silk, and Cotton The names of Hellot, Macquier, and M. Le Pilenr D'Apligny, the respective authors of the three treatises included in this volume, are well known to the student of the history of dyeing. They were the forerunners of that long line of French men of science who have done so much for the art and practice of dyeing and kindred industries. They were the immediate precursors of such men as Berthollet, Chaptal, and Chevreul, and like the latter three scientists, they were the greatest authorities of their time on dyeing, and many important improvements were introduced by them. Our British predecessors were not slow to adopt these improvements. In fact the present advanced state of the industry in this country, as well as in France, is directly traceable to the impetus given to the industry by the researches of these chemists. This book was released on 2017-10-19 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Complete Treatise on the Art of Dyeing Cotton and Wool, as Practised in Paris, Rouen, Mulhausen, and Germany The work we Offer to those engaged in the industry Of cotton and wool is, notwithstanding its briefness, the result Of long practice in the dyeing establishments of Alsace, Normandy, Ger many, and Paris. We should have been able to enlarge our work, as many have done before us, with many more receipts, and to enter into more detailed explanations, but have been prevented by a few simple considerations which we hope will at least be duly appreciated. Our book is intended for the foreman, the workman, and all others who may be called to practise the art Of dyeing, and who may wish to know what it may contain Of most importance. We have, therefore, thought it best to give it the form of a manual that can be carried in the pocket. We have not deemed it necessary to crowd its pages with receipts that are impossible or faulty.
