Book Staircase Voltammetric Stripping Analysis at Thin Film Mercury Electrodes

Download or read book Staircase Voltammetric Stripping Analysis at Thin Film Mercury Electrodes written by Uri Eisner and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) is a powerful analytical tool for trace metal analysis. In this paper, an experimental study of the staircase ASV is presented. The various parameters governing the stripping current were studied and analytical applications for the determination of low level trace metals were demonstrated. Anodic stripping voltammetry from a rotating thin film mercury electrode has been carried out employing a staircase waveform. Experimental results are shown to be in excellent agreement with previously developed theory. The method is of the same order of sensitivity as differential pulse stripping, but is much faster to perform. Reproducibility is better than 1% on the same film and 5% on replated films at the 10 ppb level.

Book Electrometric Determination of Metals in Waste Waters Containing Surfactants

Download or read book Electrometric Determination of Metals in Waste Waters Containing Surfactants written by Timothy A. Getek and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation was pursued as one aspect of a water extractable constituents research program. Knowledge was needed concerning the effect of organic constituents on the electrometric determination of metals in such waste waters as bilge discharge. Hence the electrodics of organics, including surfactants and their effect on the reactions of metal ions--for example, copper, lead, cadmium, and zinc--was studied. The relatively recent technique of differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry was explored as the prime electrometric method. The application of anodic stripping to trace determinations in a variety of samples has been documented in the literature. This distinctive technique suffers from some of the common interferences and complications inherent in all work at low concentrations. Interferences unique to this method--intermetallic compound formation and surface active substances -- were examined in the differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetric mode with an hanging mercury drop electrode. A review was also undertaken to compile relevant literature on stripping analysis.

Book Instrumentation Reference Book

Download or read book Instrumentation Reference Book written by Walt Boyes and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2009-11-25 with total page 929 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discipline of instrumentation has grown appreciably in recent years because of advances in sensor technology and in the interconnectivity of sensors, computers and control systems. This 4e of the Instrumentation Reference Book embraces the equipment and systems used to detect, track and store data related to physical, chemical, electrical, thermal and mechanical properties of materials, systems and operations. While traditionally a key area within mechanical and industrial engineering, understanding this greater and more complex use of sensing and monitoring controls and systems is essential for a wide variety of engineering areas--from manufacturing to chemical processing to aerospace operations to even the everyday automobile. In turn, this has meant that the automation of manufacturing, process industries, and even building and infrastructure construction has been improved dramatically. And now with remote wireless instrumentation, heretofore inaccessible or widely dispersed operations and procedures can be automatically monitored and controlled. This already well-established reference work will reflect these dramatic changes with improved and expanded coverage of the traditional domains of instrumentation as well as the cutting-edge areas of digital integration of complex sensor/control systems. Thoroughly revised, with up-to-date coverage of wireless sensors and systems, as well as nanotechnologies role in the evolution of sensor technology Latest information on new sensor equipment, new measurement standards, and new software for embedded control systems, networking and automated control Three entirely new sections on Controllers, Actuators and Final Control Elements; Manufacturing Execution Systems; and Automation Knowledge Base Up-dated and expanded references and critical standards

Book Pulsed Voltammetric Stripping at the Thin Film Mercury Electrode

Download or read book Pulsed Voltammetric Stripping at the Thin Film Mercury Electrode written by John A. Turner and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computer controlled data acquisition system was used to generate comparative data for thin film anodic stripping voltammetry using staircase, differential pulse and square wave waveforms. Each waveform was tested for its sensitivity and speed of analysis. The square wave waveform was found to be the most sensitive, whether using the square wave or differential pulse measurements. This waveform offers the advantages of fast analysis time and discrimination against charging currents. (Author).

Book Hazard Assessment of Chemicals

Download or read book Hazard Assessment of Chemicals written by Jitendra Saxena and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hazard Assessment of Chemicals: Current Developments, Volume 1 is a comprehensive and authoritative account of major developments in hazard assessment of chemicals. In addition to subject reviews, this volume contains case histories of topical chemicals and/or chemical classes in order to show examples of the applications of available methods and approaches for evaluating chemicals. Primary and secondary sources of information on chemicals are considered, along with the environmental and health hazards associated with chemicals. Comprised of 10 chapters, this volume begins with an assessment of information sources on toxic substances, followed by a discussion on pre-concentration of trace metals from aquatic environmental samples. Subsequent chapters focus on the reproductive toxicology of aquatic contaminants; partition coefficient and water solubility in environmental chemistry; in vitro metabolism and activation of chemical carcinogens; and modeling of toxic spills into waterways. Estimation of exposure to hazardous chemicals is also described, along with structure-activity relationships in hazard assessment. The final chapter presents a case study of azaarenes, with emphasis on their sources, distribution, environmental impact, and health effects. This book will be of interest to toxicologists, chemists, and environmental and public health officials.
