Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of G. Campbell Morgan's work has been compiled from the three volumes published in the early 1900s as The Messages of the Books of the Bible. We at AMG Publishers have made several changes as we have combined these into one volume. This volume contains Morgan's content for both the Old and New Testaments whereas in the previous publications, the Old Testament was split into two volumes, and the New Testament made the third volume. We also have updated the spelling in accordance with how our language has changed over the years. However, we have not updated the points of current history mentioned by Morgan; readers should note that they are from the turn of the century. Morgan strives to lay out in simple form what he sees to be the message of each book of the Bible, or in some cases, the message of more than one book combined. The one exception to this is the book of Lamentations for which Morgan did not include a chapter. At the beginning of each chapter, he outlines the primary message in the form of a chart, which he follows as he writes the chapter, expounding on his basic points. For the Old Testament, he breaks each book down into "The Permanent Value(s)" and "The Living Message." His layout for the books of the New Testament contains "The Essential Message" and "The Application." The charts are a kind of overview for what the reader shall explore in the chapters.

Book The AMG Concise Introduction to the Bible

Download or read book The AMG Concise Introduction to the Bible written by Howard Vos and published by Amg Concise. This book was released on 2004 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most people are vitally interested in answers to the big questions of life. Where did we come from? Why are we here? What makes us tick or what is the nature of humankind? How did we get in the predicament we are in? What is our future? We avidly read all kinds of literature on human beginnings, human psychological makeup, the present state of human affairs, and human destiny. We consider any literature that deals with these questions relevant and timely. Preeminent among all literature about the big questions of life is the Holy Bible. Not only does it report human opinions, but also it gives divine insights into all the issues of life. Thus, it gives perspectives and answers available nowhere else. Viewed from this standpoint, the Bible is not some book out of the musty past that has only antiquarian interests for a few with a nostalgic bent; but it has a vital, contemporary relevance. Dr. Vos brings the Bible to life, not only as he recounts the events of biblical history, but also as he makes it relevant for the readers of the twenty-first century. Book jacket.

Download or read book The Substance Sense and Sequence of the Scriptures written by Keith Freedman and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-10-25 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If God were to write sixty-six books of various lengths and styles, and put them all together into one collection, what would He say to us? What information or content would He record? What would be the substance of His writings? Would He communicate an overall message through the multiple accounts? Would He write a story with a plot and an engaging conflict? Would the story have a heroic central character and a murderous, lying evil counterpart? Would there be a climactic scene, a surprise twist in the plot, a huge battle, and a "they all lived happily ever after" resolution at the end? Would we understand the big picture? What would be the sense of the collection of writings? Would the order of the books and letters give structure to the overall message and develop the composition? Would the placement of the books provide the timeline and assist in the continuity of the account? Would the order of the books indicate the progression of the events from beginning to end? What would be the significance of the sequence of the record? Within the pages of this book, one will find that God has written and ordered the Scriptures as a complete composition, a record from creation to eternal glory, a composition having substance, sense, and sequence.

Book The People of the Bible and the Book of Mormon

Download or read book The People of the Bible and the Book of Mormon written by Michael Jacobazzi and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-03-27 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The people who were written about in the Book of Mormon have forgotten and abandoned their Jewish culture, traditions, and customs. From the time they left Jerusalem, they became New Testament Christians in their ways and actions. The Torah and the Book of Mormon are different in their writings. The Torah shows a God who delivered them from slavery in Egypt, and eventually brought them to live in Canaan. They were given laws that would help them in the new land and help them remember God. They had a way of life that centered around the Temple in Jerusalem and sacrificial worship. The Book of Mormon shows a group of people who were from the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh but called themselves Jews. They left Jerusalem at the urging of God, took several years to reach the sea, built a ship, and sailed to the Americas. Upon their arrival, they began living Christian, rather than Jewish, lives.
