  • Pages : 56 pages

Download or read book Perversery Rhymes written by Hoby Gilman and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2021-01-09 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yankee Donald came to town Riding his inheritance Wore his red tie past his crotch And called it utmost elegance. Long ago, Mother Goose rhymes centered around real people and controversies such as the 1665 Great Plague of London, the murderous daughter of King Henry, and the well-known philanderer and coward, King George IV. But Mother Goose has been silent since the 1800s—until now. In a modern homage to Mother Goose, Perversery Rhymes enshrines current American fakers, hoaxers, and shams such as Tough John Bolton, Moscow Mitch, Little Stephen Miller, and Cadet Bone Spurs while ensuring that they, too, will live on in infamy. Accompanied by original illustrations, this entertaining collection creatively retells the often jaw-dropping tale of the Trump Administration, its allies, and its enemies. Perversery Rhymes is a Mother Goose inspired compilation of rhyming political satire verse and original illustrations that puts sanctimonious, hypocritical modern political figures in their place.

Book Breaking the Mother Goose Code

Download or read book Breaking the Mother Goose Code written by Jeri Studebaker and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-27 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who was Mother Goose? Where did she come from, and when? Although she’s one of the most beloved characters in Western literature, Mother Goose’s origins have seemed lost in the mists of time. Several have tried to pin her down, claiming she was the mother of Charlemagne, the wife of Clovis (King of the Franks), the Queen of Sheba, or even Elizabeth Goose of Boston, Massachusetts. Others think she’s related to mysterious goose-footed statues in old French churches called “Queen Pedauque.” This book delves deeply into the surviving evidence for Mother Goose’s origins – from her nursery rhymes and fairy tales as well as from relevant historical, mythological, and anthropological data. Until now, no one has ever confidently identified this intriguing yet elusive literary figure. So who was the real Mother Goose? The answer might surprise you.

Book The Boyd Smith Mother Goose

Download or read book The Boyd Smith Mother Goose written by E. Boyd Smith and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-05 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Boyd Smith Mother Goose: With Numerous Illustrations in Color and in Black and White From Original Drawing So until more is known of the bibliography of the 1719 edition, I fear that we must accept the following as the facts: that Mother Goose originated in France between 1650 and 1697, was translated into English by Robert Sambers in 1729, and did not reach America until 1785 when Isaiah Thomas gave us a reproduction Of Newbery. As the differ ent editions of N ewbery have been added to and changed, so has the Thomas edition. Until today we have many different versions of the same, including some very modern rhymes that have absolutely nothing to do with the original American volume of Isaiah Thomas. Which must be acceded to be the first American publication of Mother Goose. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
