Book excerpt: Do you think UFOs and ETs only make their presence known to that class of beer swilling, pick-up truck driving people of questionable intelligence and veracity that mainly reside below the Mason-Dixon Line? A highly educated engineer, who believed only in what he could hold, measure and quantify, thought just that until one fateful morning when he decided to aide a few strangers who came knocking at his door. If you’ve been searching for a truly engaging science fiction story written for non-nerds, that foregoes the weird religions, strange, unpronounceable languages and endless lines of meaningless techno-babble, then hop aboard for a down to earth, but highly exciting, exceptionally humorous and fast moving adventure with The Aliens Reward. This is one story where the visitors from space are just as crazy as any humans, and aren’t portrayed as invincible, all-knowing demi-gods, grotesque monsters or beings with supernatural powers. And, you’ll discover that they don’t have all the answers, although they do have plenty of questions, and present some unique problems, along with incredible acts of heroism, loyalty and courage. Discover how one non-believing man’s decision changes not only his world, but the fate of our entire planet, forever…

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the space of a generation, Christianity in the Western world has gone from occupying a central place in the wider society to being eyed with increasing suspicion and, in some places, outright hostility. Although the church has always been a minority group, in the past decade or so it has become reawakened to that reality—and to the similarities it shares with the first followers of Jesus for whom the New Testament was written. In this book, Tim MacBride shows how New Testament texts functioned as rhetoric for the marginalized minority groups they addressed, encouraging hearers to resist the pressure to conform to the majority culture, yet in a way that remained attractively different to outsiders. He offers suggestions for how Christians today—and preachers in particular—can use and apply the New Testament’s minority-group rhetoric to speak into our own increasingly marginalized experience. Such preaching needs to guard against either being shaped by culture or isolating preacher and hearers against culture. It must instead champion the call of New Testament authors to a middle way—a call for communities of “aliens and exiles” to engage with culture by living out an attractive difference.

This book was released on 2013 with total page 1486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preface 2012 edition: The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First session, enacted between January 3, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited "U.S.C. 2012 ed." As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 USC 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office. -- John. A. Boehner, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Washington, D.C., January 15, 2013--Page VII.

Book How to Sell Your Family to the Aliens

Download or read book How to Sell Your Family to the Aliens written by Paul Noth and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an out-of-this-world funny first book in a madcap, illustrated adventure series from New Yorker cartoonist Paul Noth. Happy Conklin Jr. is the only 10-year-old who has to shave three times a day. Hap's dad is a brilliant inventor of screwball products, and being a Conklin kid means sometimes being experimented on. So Hap has his beard, and his five sisters each have their own unique--and often problematic--qualities too. And although Hap's dad has made a fortune with his wacky inventions sold via nonstop TV infomercials, all of that money has gone to Hap's tyrannical Grandma. While she lives in an enormous mansion, the rest of the family lives in two rooms in the basement. All Hap has ever wanted is to have a normal life, so when he sees a chance to get rid of Grandma, he takes it! He only means to swap out Grandma, but when he--oops!--sells his whole family to the aliens, he wants nothing more than to get them back. He just has to figure out . . . how?

Book The Population Fix Breaking America s Addiction To Population Growth

Download or read book The Population Fix Breaking America s Addiction To Population Growth written by Edward C. Hartman and published by Edward C. Hartman. This book was released on 2006-07 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alarming, amusing, disarmingly simple and to-the-point, The Population Fix describes the causes and the effects of America's addiction to population growth and explains how average citizens can regain control over misguided policies and politics. The Population Fix is an extraordinarily comprehensive analysis of the single most important factor affecting America's future. In plain English, this short volume demonstrates how out-of-control population growth exacerbates every problem facing America today and will necessarily rob future generations of an acceptable quality of life tomorrow. -Joseph L. Daleiden, author of The American Dream: Can It Survive The 21st Century?I approached The Population Fix expecting a dry dissertation. Nothing of the sort! This was a fast read. It addresses immigration-legal and illegal-but also, more broadly, the effects of rapid population growth upon Americans' quality of life. The upbeat style and hopeful countenance of the author keep the reader energized. I recommend this book to any American who cares about America's values, America's future, and the lives of future Americans.-Mark Krikorian, Executive Director Center for Immigration StudiesThe Population Fix asks: How many Americans are enough? That's the question every American should ask. This book paints the picture clearly for us; this is what America looks and feels like as we approach one billion residents. One billion! The author methodically pleads for each victim of runaway growth: the working commuter, the family struggling to find affordable housing, the unemployed engineer, the migrant living without protection or dignity, the disappearing farmland and the threatened wildlife. The Population Fix carefully draws out the human story behind our damaging immigration, tax, and legal policies and structures and begs the questions: "Why have we ignored this for the past two decades?" and "What can we do now?" -Richard D. Lamm, co-director of the Center for Public Policy & Contemporary Issues at the University of Denver
