Book excerpt: Dashing through the snow is no fun when you're running for your life... For reindeer shifter Kaelar, Christmas means a lot more than caroling and hot chocolate. Without him and his fellow reindeer working for Santa, excess joy would go to waste instead of into the hearts of children who need it. Kaelar is committed to the season and the work that comes with it—even when it means working against evil aliens whose mission is to vacuum away all the joy the reindeer fight to keep alive. With the happiness of hundreds of children on his shoulders, murderous reindeer hunters on his tail, and a group of vicious aliens stealing joy, finding a mate is the last thing on Kaelar’s mind. Until he meets her. Chloe is a doctor at a children's hospital, and while she wants to fall in love and have a family, her patients are her priority—so it feels like a gift when a mysterious reindeer shows up at the hospital and brings happiness to the children seemingly by magic. Could the visitor be connected to the handsome, reindeer-costumed man who's been cheering up children around town? The man Chloe can’t stop thinking about? All Chloe knows is that the man seems to be counteracting a strange joylessness that has shrouded the town. Can Kaelar save Chloe’s town before it's too late? Or will Christmas be ruined forever?

She hates the weather, but even more, she hates her job which requires her to stay in the sodden state even for the holidays! Instead of going to visit her family in sunny California, she will be spending the holidays alone in the cold north. But when she encounters an unconscious, golden alien on the way home from work—amidst a massive snowstorm to top it all off—it looks like the holidays might not end up as boring as she’d thought after all! A dragon paralyzed by cold… Captain Erro of Traag never thought to go down in a battle. Even less did he think to find his mate on the surface of the planet he crashes on! Trapped in the planet’s frozen wasteland, Erro can hardly function in the cold climate. He’s a dragon, for heaven’s sake! He needs some heat! And yet, despite the icy weather seeping into his bones, every time the strangely beautiful alien female smiles at him, his inner flame burns stronger than ever. She is his mate, there is no question about that. Now, if only he could understand what the hell she was saying… Snowed in with the Alien Dragon is a standalone sci-fi romance novella with a scorching hot dragon, a HEA and no cliffhangers. Download or read book As a Deer Longs for Flowing Streams written by Staffan Olofsson and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2011-08-17 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of the new DSI series is the most comprehensive investigation of Hebrew and Greek translation equivalents in Ps 42-43 in the Psalter and in the Septuagint as a whole currently available. This detailed study does not only include the translation equivalents in the Septuagint, the semantic meanings of the Hebrew and Greek words are also discussed and parallels in the LXX as well as in the Hebrew Bible are included. A systematic investigation of the translator's method must be carried out before one can use the manuscripts in a proper way. Accordingly, the extensive translation-technical emphasis and the discussion of text-critical matters make it possible to present a more accurate Old Greek text and this book may thus contribute to a new critical edition of the Greek Psalter. The book is also in some respects in itself a text-critical study, since all variants in Rahlfs' edition of the Septuagint Psalms, with the addition of Papyrus Bodmer XXIV (Rahlfs 2110), as well as Hebrew variants, are referred to and studied. This includes suggestions and evaluations of the Hebrew Vorlage behind the Septuagint text. It is also a commentary on the Hebrew and the Greek texts of Ps 42-43. Like other commentaries, it describes the position of the psalm, it presents the unity and form of the psalm, its structure and its relation to the close context. As a commentary on both the Hebrew Bible and the Septuagint, it gives an overall interpretation of the psalm in Hebrew and in Greek separately. The book can be read by the specialist in Septuagint studies as well as all scholars interested in translation, textual criticism, and in the book of Psalms, not least its use of metaphors and the reflection of temple theology.

In fascinating detail, and with magnificent artwork throughout, this new entry in the Simply series explores an exciting and little known aspect of Native culture. Download or read book Aliens in Your Native Land written by Warner M. Bailey and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-07-24 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Living as an alien in one's native land is a familiar reality to marginalized communities. Cultural, economic, and political shifts can cause people to become alienated by a system of greed, racism, sexism, xenophobia, and media manipulation. How can Christians persist under a sustained threat within a social order diametrically opposed to them? This question drives Warner Bailey's investigation of 1 Peter. The mature Christology of 1 Peter yields a profile of Christian identity. This picture is funded by texts from the Book of the Twelve (Hosea-Malachi) and is counter-intuitive, in that it is able to create new initiatives for behavior that offer hope for redemption in the midst of oppression. Bailey explores how 1 Peter has been used in shaping the life of modern "aliens," such as Dietrich Bonhoeffer, living in his own country under the oppression of Nazism, and feminist, black, immigrant, and LGBTQIA+ readers. Placing 1 Peter within the crisis in U.S. political and economic life opens up fresh implications for faithful ecclesiastical practice and personal witness.
