Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A little silver and tan Yorkie was abandoned in the countryside on a cold January day. The veterinarian who checked him suspected he had spent most of his life in a wire cage. His behavior when he met all the other dogs at the clinic was unusual – he didn’t bark or pay any attention to them. Also residing in the Yorkie’s temporary home was Slinky, the cat, who clearly viewed the dog as an unwelcome trespasser. Follow Ziggy’s adventures as he is rescued and finds a home with Nigel, an over-the-road truck driver. Their travels take them from a pet store in Missouri, to sunny Florida, and north again to Illinois. Along the way, they meet interesting people and share exciting times together.

Book excerpt: In this tender-hearted debut, set against the tumultuous backdrop of life in 1973, when homosexuality is still considered a mental illness, two boys defy all the odds and fall in love. Now in paperback. The year is 1973. The Watergate hearings are in full swing. The Vietnam War is still raging. And homosexuality is still officially considered a mental illness. In the midst of these trying times is sixteen-year-old Jonathan Collins, a bullied, anxious, asthmatic kid, who aside from an alcoholic father and his sympathetic neighbor and friend Starla, is completely alone. To cope, Jonathan escapes to the safe haven of his imagination, where his hero David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and dead relatives, including his mother, guide him through the rough terrain of his life. In his alternate reality, Jonathan can be anything: a superhero, an astronaut, Ziggy Stardust, himself, or completely "normal" and not a boy who likes other boys. When he completes his treatments, he will be normal—at least he hopes. But before that can happen, Web stumbles into his life. Web is everything Jonathan wishes he could be: fearless, fearsome and, most importantly, not ashamed of being gay. Jonathan doesn't want to like brooding Web, who has secrets all his own. Jonathan wants nothing more than to be "fixed" once and for all. But he's drawn to Web anyway. Web is the first person in the real world to see Jonathan completely and think he's perfect. Web is a kind of escape Jonathan has never known. For the first time in his life, he may finally feel free enough to love and accept himself as he is.

Book excerpt: "Ziggy Stardust A Cat's Tale" is a non fiction book about the long and amazing life of a cat named Ziggy Stardust. Ziggy Stardust lived his nine lives for 19 years, during which he went with his human companion to college, then to graduate school, then to life in several big cities. Many of the events depicted in the book are humorous, while others are poignant. Ziggy Stardust had encounters with the people in his life that ranged from infuriating, to frightening, to hilarious. Part Florida bobcat, Ziggy had a wild streak that could never, ever, be tamed. His long life was full of adventure and this book recounts these adventures. Ziggy Stardust, the cat, had more adventures in his 19 year life than many people will ever have in their lives; this book depicts them in an interesting manner, supplemented with photographs. Great effort was made to portray events exactly as they happened. This book is a "must read" for all cat lovers, pet fanciers, and others who would like to see the world through the eyes of a cat named Ziggy.

Download or read book The Adventures of Archie Reynolds written by Gifford Bailey and published by 1st Book Library. This book was released on 2003-07 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is about Gena and her family: How she overcame many hardships, of abuse in her childhood and married life. She stayed faithful to the Lord and her husband, with God's strength to help her, in spite of her start in life. Gena married in 1954, to Loyd, they have five grown children and seven grandchildren. They live in the country in a small town. I believe my book is therapeutic and inspiring. I am hoping readers will see Gena's faith in God and endurance in spite of many adversities. The family traveled across the country to find jobs, in a homemade camper. Her father drove much to fast through the badlands, while her mother yelled for him to slow down. The nine children in the back became very frightened, they kept singing "Tell it to Jesus," over many times. Arriving in Oregon on April 12th in the spring of the twins fourteenth birthday, Her parents bought a unfinished house in the city. In 1949, her mother gave birth to another child, and cared for all twelve children going on welfare. On the front cover there is a picture of a bench by the bus stop where Gena often sat, also a shadow falling across the page to represent darkness that robbed her of her childhood. Why me God she cried? One late night, thinking to step out on front of a speeding car, an easy way to end the deep-hurt inside.

Book excerpt: Ziggy Zig-Zags The Light and Dark Fantastic is a graphic fantasy novel written by Ron Baxley, Jr., with illustrations by Vincent Myrand and lettering by Ali Tavakoly. Few people know, in this day and age, the epic history of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed. These stalwart and intelligent big dogs in small bodies were used as battle steeds for elvish warriors. But their utility was not restricted to times of war. Elves and other small magical creatures found the Corgis to be the perfect partners for everyday tasks and journeys. Some say that the white markings Welsh Pembroke Corgis bear to this day are the places where the elvish saddles and stirrups left their marks. Ziggy is such a Pembroke Welsh Corgi; one who was entrusted by the elves with some vital and important missions. The first was to rescue a Lost Boy from Neverland. Armed with pixie dust carefully packaged by the elves, and with his inimitable buoyancy and good cheer, Ziggy followed the star signs and landed in Neverland, where he found Tiddle, the lost boy who was now found.
