Book excerpt: In a sweeping epic of dazzling magic, soaring suspense, and dark longing, three immortal souls are united by fate and a fearless ambition that will change the course of history–even as it destroys their own way of life. . . . On an upper floor of a plush, high-security building on Central Park West, an elegant man sits in the office of Dr. Anne Kramer, confessing to the heinous murder that has horrified the modern world. Randolf Sontime is renowned for his personal charm, and Dr. Kramer is fighting to keep from falling victim to it. For the first time in her life, she truly understands the meaning of the word “charisma.” Not knowing that her own destiny is irrevocably tied to his, Anne Kramer listens to the story of Sontime’s life. “It began with the magic, you see. And so, perforce, must I.” As a boy named Han at the House of Ra, an isolated oasis in the Egyptian desert of a far ancient time, Sontime lived in privilege. There the chosen were trained in the science of alchemy–magic, philosophy, miracles. Only two other initiates were as skilled as he: Akan, quiet and studious, a boy whose thirst for knowledge was matched only by his hunger for truth; and Nefar, beautiful and brilliant, a girl as filled with wonder and unfathomable ambition as Han himself. Together they discovered that in union, theirs was a power unmatched in the physical world. But even in the House of Ra, there were boundaries to be observed, knowledge that only the masters understood and feared. As the threesome’s thirst for answers–and for each other–deepened, they were tempted by the dark arts that they had sworn to avoid. “Look at three magnificent youths who stand astride your world and scoff at the rules you must obey. . . . Look at us, and call us gods.” Their power was palpable, their desire total–until the fateful moment when their alliance was forever damned, their gifts horribly corrupted. A seductive work that seethes with mystery and passion, The Alchemist hurtles readers back through time to an era when magic was sacred and the workings of the world lay in the hands of a few gifted, but tortured souls. In a stunning feat of unbridled imagination, Donna Boyd has created her most hypnotic novel to date. From the Hardcover edition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once upon a time, there were two siblings very different in their characters from each other. Uma was gentle and confident while Ivan was irritable and a little suspicious. But they both loved each other very much, and had in common doing adventures together. On the other side of the lake, and up the hill, on top of it, there were ruins of a castle that, in its good old days, had belonged to a king, and owner of the whole region. Today only its ruins remained. And there was a fence with a big sign that read: "FORBIDDEN- NO TRASSPASIG - DANGEROUS ZONE" People in the town were very afraid, and they didn't even come near the place because of many legends about the castle had been woven "We have arrived at last!, said Uma to her brother, is that the tower where they locked him up? she asked breathlessly. "Yes! that's the one. The only one still standing. They went in very carefully, for the evening had fallen, and it was getting dark. A great undergrowth had invaded everywhere, preventing them from advancing, as well as the scattered stones of the walls, making piles. The majority of the tiles were loose and broken. Inside what could have been the grand hall of the throne, you could see the tapestries dingy with the passage of years. There was the melancholy groan of the wind as it sank into the tower echoing in pain. When we look through its surroundings, they tell us about a sad story, but, it has a great end because it is the one that deserves. And, who wants to read a story with a bad ending? Note: They say that alchemists are beings full of chimeras. But I say it is necessary to have some chimera in our lives. As for being able to convert lead into gold, in theory it is not impossible, but in practice it is.

Book excerpt: In a world where you can't look both ways to cross the street without tripping over another self-help author, it's crucial to bring something different to readers that are searching for answers. The Alchemist Jedi in his no nonsense codex Alchemy, the Masters' Path - Create Your Calm & Peace cuts the fluff out of an existential discussion that's caused centuries of war in the past and separation in modern times. Without fear this particular guidebook teaches several ancient practices that ""cultivate your mind and nurture your emotions"" to reach a place of joy and inner peace. What sets Alchemy, the Masters' Path apart is how the tale combines quick references you can keep in your pocket for a rainy day with personal anecdotes from the author's own experiences. Without giving too much away, the story of how he lost his tongue and the power he gained from silently observing the world will both terrify and inspire you. There's something magical every reader can gain from this book.
