Download or read book Living Intentionally written by Paul Beersdorf and published by Ilynmw Publishing. This book was released on 2017-01-15 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The whole premise for this book came from a choice I made in my life to live more intentionally. I was tired of walking through this life without a plan and treating those around me indifferently. Living a life with intentionality necessarily means that I had to do a lot of the following: 1. Thinking 2. Meditating 3. Planning 4. Experimenting My heart's desire is to live a life whereby I am growing, spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. My desire is to have deeper and more meaningful relationships with those near and dear to my heart. To pour into others and be a mentor and encourager to my friends, family and co-workers. Consider how you can be more intentional in the following areas of your life: Time - we all have the same amount of time each day (24 hours). How are you going to spend that time? Talents - what are the skills and abilities that you have? Are you using them appropriately? How can you be more intentional about using your talents in a positive and meaningful way? Treasure - this is a tough one for many people. Being intentional about how you spend, save, give and invest your money will take time and thoughtful effort on your part. You must know how each dollar is spent and how you are going to use your money. If you can consistently be intentional about these three areas of your life, I believe you will find your life much more fulfilling.

Book excerpt: "ABC's are wonderful tools; they teach us how to read and spell; The ABC's of the Creator's Plan; teach us how to live healthy and well. Of the Great Physician, there's never been a patient, whom He has ever lost. Though fully restored, they received no charges; He's already paid the cost. Why, then, should we continue to encumber ourselves, unnecessarily; When Living a Happy, Healthy and Truly Blessed Life; Is as basic as ABC? Natural 1 is a health-themed, alphabetic compilation of original artwork and conscious lyrics, supported by corresponding verses from the King James Version Bible. It came into being in the early 1980's as a hand-made coloring book created by a parent n search of health centered, character based, culturally relevant teaching materials for her home-schooled children. The author herself, at the age of four, was first introduced to the alphabet by her own mother. She became so fascinated by this organized system of symbols, that to her mother's chagrin, she scribbled them on nearly every wall in the house as she deemed it her personal responsibility to pass this life changing information on to her younger siblings as well as all other inquiring minds of the household. And the rest, as they say, is history. Today, she uses her resources, to inspire others, to become more informed, intentional and vigilant in matters pertaining to health and wholeness. In the era in which we presently live, this message could not have been brought forward at a more pressing time." --

Book Intentional Living

Download or read book Intentional Living written by John C. Maxwell and published by Center Street. This book was released on 2015-10-06 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John C. Maxwell, #1 New York Times bestselling author, helps readers take the first steps to living a life that matters inIntentional Living. We all have a longing to be significant. We want to make a contribution, to be a part of something noble and purposeful. But many people wrongly believe significance is unattainable. They worry that it's too big for them to achieve. That they have to have an amazing idea, be a certain age, have a lot of money, or be powerful or famous to make a real difference. The good news is that none of those things is necessary for you to achieve significance and create a lasting legacy. The only thing you need to achieve significance is to be intentional. And to do that, all you need to do is start. You can't make an impact sitting still and doing nothing. Every major accomplishment that's ever been achieved started with a first step. Sometimes it's hard; other times it's easy, but no matter what, you have to do it if you want to get anywhere in life. In Intentional Living, John Maxwell will help you take that first step, and the ones that follow, on your personal path through a life that matters.

Book excerpt: As Christians, we are often presented with questions that the Bible doesn't give clear-cut answers to, but with a little searching and a little thinking outside the box, we can postulate fairly accurate answers. This book is a collection of subjects that often frustrate or confuse Christians, with thoughts and insights into what the Bible says about them. If you've ever had questions about heaven or hell, about marriage or divorce, about sin and its origin, or why we suffer, you may find answers here. What happened to Cain after leaving Adam and Eve? How do we reconcile dinosaurs and the creation account? Is there life beyond our planet? Whether it is an issue of a personal nature or a larger extrapersonal issue, we have gathered insights into one book for your convenience. Each issue in this book could be a book in itself, and many books have been written on some of these subjects, but our aim is to give you one source with insights and a biblical basis for these issues. The above issues, and more, can be found inside for your reading pleasure and edification!

Book Fourierist Communities of Reform

Download or read book Fourierist Communities of Reform written by Amy Hart and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-07-23 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the intersections between nineteenth-century social reform movements in the United States. Delving into the little-known history of women who joined income-sharing communities during the 1840s, this book uses four community case studies to examine social activism within communal environments. In a period when women faced legal and social restrictions ranging from coverture to slavery, the emergence of residential communities designed by French utopian writer, Charles Fourier, introduced spaces where female leadership and social organization became possible. Communitarian women helped shape the ideological underpinnings of some of the United States’ most enduring and successful reform efforts, including the women’s rights movement, the abolition movement, and the creation of the Republican Party. Dr. Hart argues that these movements were intertwined, with activists influencing multiple organizations within unexpected settings.

Book Creating a Life Together

Download or read book Creating a Life Together written by Diana Leafe Christian and published by New Society Publishers. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An intentional community is a group of people who have chosen to live or work together in pursuit of a common ideal or vision. An ecovillage is a village-scale intentional community that intends to create, ecological, social, economic, and spiritual sustainability over several generations. The 90s saw a revitalized surge of interest in intentional communities and ecovillages in North America: the number of intentional communities listed in the Communities Directory increased 60 percent between 1990 and 1995. But only 10 percent of the actual number of forming-community groups actually succeeded. Ninety percent failed, often in conflict and heartbreak. After visiting and interviewing founders of dozens of successful and failed communities, along with her own forming-community experiences, the author concluded that "the successful 10 percent" had all done the same five or six things right, and "the unsuccessful 90 percent" had made the same handful of mistakes. Recognizing that a wealth of wisdom were contained in these experiences, she set out to distill and capture them in one place. Creating a Life Together is the only resource available that provides step-by-step, practical "how-to" information on how to launch and sustain a successful ecovillage or intentional community. Through anecdotes, stories, and cautionary tales about real communities, and by profiling seven successful communities in depth, the book examines "the successful 10 percent" and why 90 percent fail; the role of community founders; getting a group off to a good start; vision and vision documents; decision-making and governance; agreements; legal options; finding, financing, and developing land; structuring a community economy; selecting new members; and communication, process, and dealing well with conflict. Sample vision documents, community agreements, and visioning exercises are included, along with abundant resources for learning more.

Book excerpt: A wise, passionate account of the pleasures of traveling solo In our hectic, hyperconnected lives, many people are uncomfortable with the prospect of solitude. Yet a little time to ourselves can be an opportunity to slow down, savor, and try new things, especially when traveling. Through on-the-ground reporting, insights from social science, and recounting the experiences of artists, writers, and innovators who cherished solitude, Stephanie Rosenbloom considers how traveling alone deepens appreciation for everyday beauty, bringing into sharp relief the sights, sounds, and smells that one isn't necessarily attuned to in the presence of company. Walking through four cities--Paris, Florence, Istanbul, and New York--and four seasons, Alone Time gives us permission to pause, to relish the sensual details of the world rather than hurtling through museums and uploading photos to Instagram. In chapters about dining out, visiting museums, and pursuing knowledge, we begin to see how the moments we have to ourselves--on the road or at home--can be used to enrich our lives. Rosenbloom's engaging and elegant prose makes Alone Time as warmly intimate an account as the details of a trip shared by a beloved friend--and will have its many readers eager to set off on their own solo adventures.

Book Advancing Phenomenology

Download or read book Advancing Phenomenology written by Thomas Nenon and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-09-08 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philip Blosser and Thomas Nenon The essays in the volume were assembled in honor of Lester Embree, who celebrated his 70th birthday on January 9, 2008. A preview of this volume was presented to Professor Embree at a reception sponsored by the Center for Advanced Research in Phenomenology that was held in his honor at the 2008 meeting of the Husserl Circle at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The title Advancing Phenomenology is purposely ambiguous. On the one hand, these essays document the progress that phenomenology as an ongoing and vibrant movement has made in the period of over a century since its inception. They ill- trate the advance of phenomenology both in terms of the range of topics represented in this volume and in terms of the disciplinary and geographical diversity of the scholars who have contributed to it. The topics range from scholarly appropriations of past achievements in phenomenology, to concrete phenomenological investi- tions into ethics, gender, and environmental philosophy, as well as phenomenolo- cal reflections on the foundations of disciplines outside philosophy such as psychology, history, the social sciences, and archeology. The contributors come both from philosophy departments and from a number disciplines outside of philosophy such as sociology, psychology, and archeology; and they come from all around the world – from North America, from Western and Eastern Europe, from Latin America, and from several different countries in Asia.
