Book The 23rd Psalm For Black Sheep

Download or read book The 23rd Psalm For Black Sheep written by Robin Gray-Strickland and published by Pleasant Word. This book was released on 2004-07-01 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does a woman with five ex-husbands and a live-in boyfriend have in common with a greedy tax collector? They were both black sheep from the Bible who were sought out by the Good Shepherd. Throughout the gospels, Jesus seemed drawn to people on the fringes of society, and went to great lengths to find them. There are members in the body of Christ who still suffer from the "black sheep" complex. The single mother who has experienced more than one failed marriage, the recovering alcoholic who still struggles with his addiction, and the heartbroken spouse of a cocaine addict will know exactly what the "black sheep" complex is. Often these people suffer in silence, unable to discuss these real life issues with other Christians. That person may be sitting in the pew next to you. That person may even be you. In this book, the 23rd Psalm serves as an outline as we take a closer look at the heart of the Good Shepherd from the unique perspective of the black sheep. Join these misfits from the gospels and their contemporary counterparts as they finally discover their place in living day to day beneath the Shepherd's grace. Within His grace is a place of joyous belonging and perfect peace for anyone who has ever believed they never really "fit in" anywhere.

Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1845 edition. Excerpt: ... CHAPTER III. THE SHEPHERD RECOVERING THE STRAY SHEEP. PSALH xxiii. 3. HE RESTORETH MY SOUL: HE LEADETH ME IN THE PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR HIS NAME'S SAKE. Health is the gift of God, but it fails; grace is strong and cleansing, but nature is weak and corrupt. The Psalmist's experience, therefore, not only leads him to expatiate upon the precious privileges which belong to the sheep of Christ, but it reminds him of another branch of his Shepherd's care, the restoration of the wanderer. Whatever our health of body may be, would God that our corruption did not so often lead us away from His pastures, to follow paths that end in bitter pain and correction! But so it is. The sheep of Christ have indeed green pastures and calm retreats. They are privileged to lie down beside the waters of quietness, none disturbing them. But that which the Shepherd knows to be best, the sheep do not always consider, and the children of God are too frequently found astray. In such a case it is that the mercy and faithfulness of the Church's Shepherd appears. "He restoreth my soul" Of all the attributes of God, the most marvellous, because it is the most unexpected, and, to our ways of thinking, the most irreconcileable with His greatness and essential holiness, is His long-suffering. That God should punish rebellion is only compatible with His perfect purity and justice. That He should pardon the rebel, through the infinite work of His Son, is the prodigious unfolding of perfect love. But that he should renew this day by day, that He should go after those who wander away from Him into selfpleasing ways and sins, and that He should restore the backsliders, --this is the climax of all! and we ought to be humbled at the thought. Our views of this are cold and...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After reading this book it is our desire for you to testify to the fact that our Shepherd knows better than wewhere we should gowhat we should do while we are thereand the best direction for our next haven! One of the greatest downfalls as it relates to the Shepherd and sheeps relationship is that we most times are confident that our ways are the best ways; when in reality our ways only produce dry pastures, running waters, and unwelcomed attacks from our enemies. Upon learning the need and importance of our Shepherd we would immediately see that life is so much sweeter when we acquiesce to how the Psalmist David begins his testimony.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered why David chose to portray the Lord as his shepherd in Psalm 23? Is that all he is portraying Him as in the Psalm? If you crave an in-depth analysis of the deeper meaning of these expressions and wish to savor the poetic beauty of Psalm 23, this book is a must-read for you. King David is one of the most fascinating figures in the Holy Bible and He was an exceptional poet, musician, and songwriter. In Psalm 23, he captures the beauty of nature and combines it with his unshakable faith based on his relational experiences with Yahweh. From the historical context when David wrote the psalm, David was a lost sheep—on the run from king Saul, became a nomad going from town to town to survive. He was a black sheep—his was overlooked by his own father, and his brothers were angry with him for his bravery in the face of Goliath’s defiance. But he was also a safe sheep—through it all Yahweh, the Lord, was with him to keep him safe from danger, and ultimately made him king. Whichever category you fit in—whether a lost sheep, black sheep, or a safe sheep, you can still put your trust in the Lord as YOUR Shepherd to guide and protect you always. THIS IS BOOK IS A DAY’S READING FOR A LIFETIME OF FAITH—A Must Have!!!

Book Reflections of a Wyoming Shepherd on the 23Rd Psalm

Download or read book Reflections of a Wyoming Shepherd on the 23Rd Psalm written by Patricia McClaflin Booher and published by Author House. This book was released on 2009-03-20 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Great War was over and families were reunited. The McClaflin family began life afresh on a homestead in the northern plains of Wyoming, clearing off sagebrush and tilling virgin soil. Childhood memories of caring for orphan lambs have made an indelible imprint on the stories that have been penned to the pages of this beloved story of courage and endurance. The authors lifelong journey of walking with the Heavenly Shepherd of the 23rd Psalm is the spark that kindles the flame of compassion and caring the reader will experience from the stories of family and the love of life. The death of a parent is a common experience, until that season of life is within your family. Layer upon layer, circumstances of life hopefully will mold us into persons with a lot of horse sense, better known in todays society as common sense, and equip us with a great deal of integrity to pass on to future generations. Or we can choose to live a life of despair, and each of us makes that choice. Colliding with a huge snowplow in a brutal storm in the middle of Shirley Basin in the desolate parts of Wyoming would forever change the life of this author. The peace and calm of knowing the protection of the Heavenly Shepherd, depicted in the 23rd Psalm, while waiting for an ambulance coming from a long distance has given the promise of hope and a future. Sunrises and sunsets would forever take on a brighter hue, thus allowing Patricia the desire and ability to pen much-loved stories of family, friends, and the Heavenly Shepherd found in this novel.

Praise for Life Without Lack: "Dallas Willard helps us to understand that the Twenty-Third Psalm is not meant as a nice sentiment or for kitschy decor, it is for the very thick of our lives, the very moment of crisis. Imagine what our personal lives, families, communities, and politics would look like if we rejected the frantic striving of our day, and instead embraced the life without lack offered to us in Jesus Christ. No one has helped me to imagine and enter into that life more than Dallas Willard. I recommend this book with great joy and hopeful expectation." --Michael Wear, bestselling author of Reclaiming Hope
