Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if you just trusted the whisper of calling placed on your heart? Kathy Izard was volunteering at Charlotte’s Urban Ministry Center when an unlikely meeting with a homeless man changed the course of her life. She realized that serving at the soup kitchen was feeding her soul, but not actually solving the needs of the homeless population. Rather than brush it off and avoid what she now felt called to take on, she quit her job and took on what seemed like an insurmountable task—building housing for Charlotte’s homeless. Woven together with this uplifting story of social action is Kathy’s personal struggle with faith, forgiveness and fulfillment. In telling her story, Kathy invites you to consider rewriting your own. What’s calling you? As crazy at it seems, it may be crazier not to try. This book will push you to do so much more than you ever thought possible.

This Pay It Forward Challenge is to help motivate and inspire you to put positive energy outwards every day. You can smile to people, you can pay extra in a tip, you can pay for someone's coffee, you can pay for anyone's whatever, you can give your time, open a door, etcetera etcetera all without expectation of anything in return and write that down in your challenge journal! The point is Pay It Forward! Give! Give of yourself what ever that may be. Time, money, things, a smile, doing something like picking up trash, anything that can make this world a better, happier place not only for yourself but for others! Spread the positive energy! You can also record people reactions, that is always reflective and interesting to ponder. Instructions: *First write a goal or goals. Even if it is just to finish the 100 Day Challenge. *Then put in Starting Date of Challenge. *Each Day of Challenge; *Do the Daily Challenge *Mark off the done box, can put in an "X" *Now you can write what you did, how you feel, etc *Bonus you have a page a day to color! ***When you FINISH the 100 Day Challenge, Collect your Certificate at the end of book!**** 100 Days? Why 100 Days? Well Why Not 100 Days? My Story Well for me, I need 100 days. They say it takes 21 days to break a bad habit or install a new one. Not me. For me, not 21 days. Not 30 days. Nope not even 40 days. It takes me 50-100 days to break any bad habit, establish a new better one. And really, even rarer at the same time. I am so Dang Stubborn! I don't know what it is. But now I don't care what it is. I just know that I keep to doing 100-day challenges and I can accomplish anything I set out to do. And yes, I must do it as challenges, not habit breaking exercises, or establishing good habits. It must be set up so I can say "Challenge Accepted!". Lol I am so wired differently. But it works for me. I've started and done so many other ways and quit. 21 days, 30 days, 40 days and even sometimes 50 days are not enough for me. I seem to just play along, then when it's done, I go back to whatever I was doing before I started. Back to the old way- comfortable way- familiar way, even though it was harming me in some way. Me and maybe you and others need more time, more days to let your mind know that you mean business, that you are serious this time, that you need proof that this is what you really want. And heck yeah it takes commitment, dedication, bravery, persistence... etc. Challenge Accepted! Kimberly Crouse - Good Luck and Love On!

Book The Creativity Market

Download or read book The Creativity Market written by Dominique Hecq and published by Multilingual Matters. This book was released on 2012-04-05 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on creative writing both as a subject in universities and beyond academia, with chapters arranged around three organising sub-themes of practice, research and pedagogy. It explores the ‘creative’ component of creative writing in the globalised marketplace, making the point that creative writing occurs in and around universities throughout the world. It examines the convergence of education, globalisation and economic discourses at the intersection of the university sector and creative industries, and foregrounds the competing interests at the core of creativity as it appears in the neo-liberal global discourse in which writers are enmeshed. The book offers case studies from the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia and Singapore that are indicative of the challenges faced by academics, postgraduate students and creative industry professionals around the world.

Book Howard Zinn s Southern Diary

Download or read book Howard Zinn s Southern Diary written by Robert Cohen and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2018-09-15 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The activist and author of A People’s History of the United States records an in-depth and personal account of the Civil Rights Movement in Atlanta. During the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, students of Spelman College, a black liberal arts college for women, were drawn into the historic protests occurring across Atlanta. At the time, Howard Zinn was a history professor at Spelman and served as an adviser to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Zinn mentored many of Spelman’s students fighting for civil rights at the time, including Alice Walker and Marian Wright Edelman. Zinn’s involvement with the Atlanta student movement and his closeness to Spelman’s leading activists gave him an insider’s view of the political and intellectual world of Spelman, Atlanta University, and the SNCC. He recorded his many insights and observations of the time in his Spelman College diary. Robert Cohen presents Zinn’s diary in full along with a thorough historical overview and helpful contextual notes. It is a fascinating historical document of the free speech, academic freedom, and student rights battles that rocked Spelman and led to Zinn’s dismissal from the college in 1963 for supporting the student movement.

Book Filming John Fowles

Download or read book Filming John Fowles written by James Aubrey and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Fowles wrote five compelling stories later made into motion pictures. This book examines for the first time the film and video adaptations of these stories, as well as Fowles's role in adapting his literary genius to visual media. Besides his authorship of the screenplay for The Magus (1968), Fowles was an uncredited contributor to The Collector (1965) and The French Lieutenant's Woman (1971), and to the British television adaptations The Ebony Tower and The Enigma. His unpublished short story "The Last Chapter" was adapted as a theatrical short film satirizing the James Bond novels. Few are aware that the 1997 thriller The Game was a brilliant adaptation of The Magus, or that Fowles himself acted out scenes from that novel for a Greek television documentary. This book gives deserved recognition to John Fowles as a contributor to cinema, a medium he both loved and distrusted, where his stories acquired vivid alternative lives.

Book Theorizing Digital Rhetoric

Download or read book Theorizing Digital Rhetoric written by Aaron Hess and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-20 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theorizing Digital Rhetoric takes up the intersection of rhetorical theory and digital technology to explore the ways in which rhetoric is challenged by new technologies and how rhetorical theory can illuminate discursive expression in digital contexts. The volume combines complex rhetorical theory with personal anecdotes about the use of technologies to create a larger philosophical and rhetorical account of how theorists approach the examinations of new and future digital technologies. This collection of essays emphasizes the ways that digital technology intrudes upon rhetorical theory and how readers can be everyday rhetorical critics within an era of ever-increasing use of digital technology. Each chapter effectively blends theorizing between rhetoric and digital technology, informing readers of the potentiality between the two ideas. The theoretical perspectives informed by digital media studies, rhetorical theory, and personal/professional use provide a robust accounting of digital rhetoric that is timely, personable, and useful.
