Book Thanksgiving Blessing Ats Pack of 25

Download or read book Thanksgiving Blessing Ats Pack of 25 written by Crossway and published by Crossway Books. This book was released on 2015-08-31 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THANKSGIVING. IT'S A SPECIAL TIME TO GATHER WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS, SHARE A DELICIOUS MEAL, WATCH PARADES AND FOOTBALL, AND TAKE AN AFTERNOON NAP. Thanksgiving is also the perfect time to acknowledge God's presence in our lives and thank him for the countless blessings he gives us. As you share the Thanksgiving holiday with those around you this year, take a few moments to focus on God by sharing these thoughts, scriptures, and blessings. They will enrich your time together. THANKSGIVING SCRIPTURES Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. --Psalm 100 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. --Philippians 4:4-7 THANKSGIVING BLESSINGS The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. --Numbers 6:24-26 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. --Ephesians 1:2 THANKSGIVING IN JESUS CHRIST Thanksgiving is not just about being thankful. It's important to remember to be thankful to God for sending his Son, Jesus Christ. Of all the things God has provided and all the things in the world to be thankful for, the greatest is his gift of salvation and eternal life. The Bible says that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" and that "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Each one of us is destined to eternal separation from God as punishment for our sins. But God provided a way to reconcile sinners to himself-- by sending his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place, as our substitute, so that we can have eternal life. "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Then God raised Jesus back to life three days after his crucifixion, proving that our punishment was paid in full. "Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God" (Romans 8:34). But like any gift, you have to accept it, or it's not yours. Believe that God's gift of salvation is for you! The Bible says: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). If you want to accept God's free gift of salvation and be certain about your eternity, then you can tell that to God in a prayer like this: Dear God, I know I am separated from you because of my sins. I ask for your forgiveness. Thank you for sending your only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and rise from the dead to completely take away the eternal consequences of my sins. I now trust in him alone as my Savior. Thank you for your free gift of salvation and eternal life.

Thank You for meeting my needs every day--for food and shelter and clothing, and for the many extras You provide that I so often take for granted. Thank You for family and friends who make my life complete. Thank You that even when we are miles apart, we are bound by the cords of Your love. Thank You that I live in a country where I am free to worship You and to read Your Word. Most of all, I thank You for Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the "light of the world." When I turned to Him, He flooded the darkness of my soul with the light of Your love. Thank You that He not only died for my sins, but that He is alive today at Your side--hearing my prayers and preparing a home for me in Heaven. Thank You that Jesus came into this world and took up residence in my life as Savior, Lord, and God. Thank You for all that You have given me as a Christian: the Holy Spirit who is Your presence in my life, the Bible that is a light to my pathway, and Christian friends who encourage and help me. Thank You that I can face tomorrow with hope because Jesus is living for me. O, Lord, how truly rich I am Thank You for all You mean to me. "Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations" (Psalm 100:4-5).

Book A Handbook for Seminary Presidents

Download or read book A Handbook for Seminary Presidents written by G. Douglass Lewis and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2006-06-13 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are now over 250 theological seminaries in the United States and Canada. Leading these diverse institutions is a difficult task that combines elements of executive management, academic prowess, master storytelling, and spiritual discipline. Apart from informal mentoring relationships, however, there has been no resource specifically designed to impart collected presidential wisdom. Douglass Lewis, Lovett Weems, and the four dozen other presidential contributors to this volume -- a project of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada -- together possess hundreds of years of combined experience in institutional leadership. They pass along sage advice on everything from boards and enrollment to facilities and institutional advancement, with special discussions of women in leadership, Canadian schools, and the challenges of university-based programs. Any person in administration at a seminary recognizes that leadership in theological education presents a unique set of challenges. "A Handbook for Seminary Presidents" aims to make this task easier and more fulfilling not only for the presidents themselves but also for deans, faculty, support staff, and all who seek to effectively prepare the next generation of Christian leaders. Book excerpt: In this edition of this classic study of postmillennialism, you will sense anew the powerful message of Psalm 72 that Christ "shall have dominion from sea to sea" (Psa 72:8). You will learn that God's word boldly promises that "the whole earth will be filled with his glory" (72:19) so that "all nations will call him blessed" (72:17) - before Christ returns. Many evangelicals today are concerned about those being Left Behind on this Late Great Planet Earth as it collapses into absolute chaos. But the postmillennialist optimistically believes regarding Christ that He Shall Have Dominion throughout the earth. In this book you will find the whole biblical rationale for the postmillennial hope, from its incipient beginning in Genesis to its glorious conclusion in Revelation. Your faith will be re-invigorated as you begin to recognize that "the gospel is the power of God unto salvation" (Rom 1:16) and that our Lord Jesus really meant it when he commanded us to "go and make disciples of all the nations" (Matt 28:19).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Wisdom of Ben Sira (Ecclesiasticus) contains the sayings of Ben Sira, arguably the last of Israel's wise men and its first professional scribe, whose world was defined and dominated by Greek ideas and ideals. This Hellenistic worldview challenged the adequacy of the religion passed down to the Palestinian Jews of the second century B.C.E. by their ancestors. Ben Sira's training in both Judaic and Hellenistic literary traditions prepared him to meet this challenge. He vigorously opposed any compromise of Jewish values; and his teachings bolstered the faith and confidence of his people. Through its elegant poetry and vehement exhortations, The Wisdom of Ben Sira exposes the ill effects of sinful behavior on one's health, status, and spiritual and material well-being. Ben Sira's rigorous code of moral behavior was the measure of Jewish faithfulness in an era of ethical and religious bankruptcy.
