Download or read book Don t Forget to Say Thank You written by Lindsay Schlegel and published by Ave Maria Press. This book was released on 2018-08-24 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you hear yourself saying the same things over and over to your kids? “Do you need help?” “Say thank you.” “Wait a minute.” In Don’t Forget to Say Thank You: And Other Parenting Lessons That Brought Me Closer to God, Lindsay Schlegel reimagines the common phrases we repeat as parents and applies them to our relationship with God. In doing so, she demonstrates how reflecting on our vocation as mothers can inform and illuminate our role as a daughter of God, drawing us closer to him. What if we took the statements we repeat to our children and apply them to ourselves? In Don’t Forget to Say Thank You, writer Lindsay Schlegel shares fifteen relatable phrases she frequently uses as a parent and how her faith and life changed when she envisioned God telling her these same things. When we start to hear the things we’re telling our kids as wisdom from God, it’s clear that the lessons we are trying to teach our kids are ones we also need to learn as children of the Most High. Asking her daughter, “Do you need help?” caused Schlegel to reflect on the importance of the Communion of Saints and reaching out for the assistance she needs. Telling her children, “Say you’re sorry” reminded her of the necessity of Confession and seeking forgiveness. And pleading that a toddler “wait a minute” while she looked for her crackers forced Schlegel to consider how she needed to have both more patience and more trust that God would take care of her. Schlegel invites us to apply the same lessons she learned to our own lives as parents and as children of God through reflection questions and a prayer at the end of each chapter. She also suggests saints to whom we can look for inspiration and guidance, reminding us that we are not alone as we strive to more accurately reflect the image of our heavenly Father.

Download or read book What the F ck s For Dinner written by Jennifer Schafer and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2023-02-24 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you cope with the “day after” of regret that’s left your head feeling like someone dropped an anvil on it? Do you wonder how you passed out without your pants on (again)? We’ve all been there, regretting that extra glass (okay, bottle) of rosé or thinking that chasing beer with a few cocktails will be just fine. Cue the inevitable hangover and its sidekick: binge eating to soak up the alcohol, replacing it with grease, salt, calories, and a dose of “I promise to never drink again.” In What the Fuck’s for Dinner? Because I’m Hungover AF, Jennifer Schafer has put her experience in over-indulging to excellent use, identifying five levels of “hungness” as she calls it, and cures in the way of pre-planned, healthy-ish (or healthier) recipes that form the pages of this irreverent cookbook designed for post-drinking healing. Schafer, who wants to help people feel better when they’re at their worst, serves up wit, wisdom, and tough love with homemade cures like Chicken Tendies & Poutine (an indulgence, she admits), vegan-friendly recipes such as the Tofu Rice Bowl, alongside stoner indulgences (another “level” in the book), including PB Banana Bites, and Nachos Libre.

We’ve all heard it before. From the moody menstrual monster to the menopausal maniac, the idea that women become raving lunatics when their hormones fluctuate is firmly entrenched in American culture—anddeeply fueled by the media. But where exactly did this stereotype come from? How has it hurt women? And how can we move past it once and for all? In this breakthrough book, Robyn Stein DeLuca fearlessly exposes and debunks pervasive myths about women’s hormones, and reveals how flawed, outdated research and sexism have joined forces throughout history to keep women “in their place.” With a revolutionary exploration of women’s hormonal lives—from menstruation to childbirth to menopause—DeLuca shines a much-needed light on the lies that have impacted women. Now more than ever, it’s time to resist the myth that women are ruled by their hormones. It’s time for women to take charge of their lives. Download or read book The Makings of a Project Queen written by Denisha “Coco” Blossom and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2023-05-05 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The broken pieces of a Black woman. Shattered by the neglect of a Black man. It’s too much pressure to save her. So, he turns his head. Acting as if he don’t see her pain, While all she needed was his hand.” In her debut poetic memoir, “The Makings of a Project Queen,” Blossom relives a path of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing as she shines a light on key issues impacting inner-city Black girls today. She uses a collection of poems and short behind-the-scenes stories to take others on an inspirational journey of a hood scholar who forged her own path as a community-based educator and scholar-activist. Through the book, she emerges as a Project Queen. Growing up in South Sacramento, Denisha “Coco” Blossom had to navigate gang territories, drugs, poverty, hustle, and power plays. She survived immense heartbreak, broken relationships, body shaming, and hopelessness. At a young age, she internalized the notion that, as an impoverished fat Black girl, her choices in life were limited. Despite these adversities, through engagement with poetry, education, street literacy, and faith, she exceeded all of the low expectations – especially those that came from her teachers. Instead of succumbing to her circumstances, she grew into a Queen. She lifted her head, reclaimed her crown, and became the author of her own life. The makings of a Project Queen is a powerful story that will encourage women and girls everywhere to fix their crown, walk-in their queendom, and embark on their own journey to self-discovery and fulfilling their greatest life purpose.
