Book Th ories des organisations africaines

Download or read book Th ories des organisations africaines written by Jean Biwolé-Fouda and published by Perspectives organisationnelles. This book was released on 2018 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Th ories et management des organisations written by Raphaël Nkakleu and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Production des Connaissances en Sciences Sociales en Afrique written by Moulio Moungbakou and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2022-02-11 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the epistemological, ethical and methodological challenges faced by African scholars in their research practices. The epistemological domain addresses three interrelated topics: how African university students ethnocentric choice of research topics hampers the production of knowledge; researchers adaptation of their research methods to improve validity; and the challenge of knowledge production on community museums plagued by gross inertia, irregularities, uncooperative gatekeepers and inadequate funding. The methodological domain foregrounds issues around scientific rigour, the criteria for what counts as quality research, and reporting standards. Contributors contend that the use of mixed methods provides the best scope for the effective study and evaluation of social issues. They also detail how better-funded projects tend to improve the respect of ethical standards especially as they pertain to the protection of subjects confidentiality. Self-financed researchers on the other hand tend to be less compliant, a challenge that afflict especially younger and inexperienced researchers. This volume thus contributes not only to a critical understanding of the challenges faced by social scientists in contemporary Africa, but also the prospects and mechanisms on how to improve knowledge production processes.

Book The Oxford Handbook of the Economy of Cameroon

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of the Economy of Cameroon written by Célestin Monga and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-12-20 with total page 801 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cameroon's suboptimal economic experience since independence (1960) sheds light on broader issues of Africa's development narrative, and provides valuable economic and policy knowledge. While Cameroon's large informal economy is diverse and resilient and rooted in old business traditions, its formal economy has exhibited low productivity and employment growth for over 60 years. This has brought anger, disappointment, and violent conflict in several regions of the country. The Oxford Handbook of the Economy of Cameroon examines the reasons of Cameroon's unsatisfactory economic performance and draws lessons from successful development experience to help tackle these issues. The Handbook provides a critical assessment of the history, patterns, and strategies of economic development in Cameroon, and outlines new approaches to economic enquiry for prosperity and social change. Through Cameroon's governance story, the handbook analyzes the evolving conceptions of economic policy, takes stock of intellectual progress, documents the challenges of implementation, and outlines the intellectual and policy agenda ahead. For a developing country increases in per capita income arise from advances in technology arise from closing the knowledge and technology gap with those at the frontier. And within any country (especially one like Cameroon), there is enormous scope for productivity improvement simply by closing the gap between best practices and average practices. Standards of living can therefore be improved through the implementation of pertinent learning strategies. In this Oxford Handbook of the Economy of Cameroon, an international team of leading development economists and researchers address the wide range of issues facing Cameroon and provide guiding principles on how best the country (and other developing nations) could move human, capital, and financial resources from low- to high-productivity sectors in a constantly changing global economy.

Book The Southern African Development Community Treaty Nexus

Download or read book The Southern African Development Community Treaty Nexus written by Korwa Gombe Adar and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2023-03-27 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its establishment in 1980 the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has largely been a state driven organization, with the people of Southern Africa, though enshrined in the treaty, remaining observers in the SADC democratization and integration agenda. The Southern African Development Community Treaty-Nexus: National Constitutions, Citizen’s Sovereignty, Communication, and Awareness, edited by Korwa Gombe Adar, Dorothy Mpabanga, Kebapetse Lotshwao, Thekiso Molokwane, and Norbert Musekiwa, brings in the people of Southern Africa, the key beneficiaries of the integration agenda, in the SADC democratization and integration epistemology. Using the new concepts of sadcness and sadcnization, this book operationalizes from legal, communication, and awareness perspectives, the nexus of the people of Southern Africa, democratization, and integration in the SADC region. From legal and communications lenses, the contributors argue that democratization and integration are about people (citizens), the sovereigns, and not merely the abstract actors called nation states. Using the case studies of Angola, Botswana, Madagascar, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, the contributors engage in this epistemology and assess, among other things, the peoples' of Southern Africa—the Southern Africa Development Community integration nexus.

Book A Theory on Africanizing International Law

Download or read book A Theory on Africanizing International Law written by Micha Wiebusch and published by Pretoria University Law Press. This book was released on 2024-07-01 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the publication Key reference work for diplomats and legal experts participating in international legal negotiations and transnational policy debates on governing the African continent. Highly recommended for developing courses, reading lists and other teaching materials on African International Law and African International Relations. Instrumental for developing innovative and impact-oriented research and policy strategies on the politics of making and implementing African International Law. What is African about African international law? The main aim of this book is to answer this question by developing a theory to explain how and why international law is Africanized. This includes explaining how Africanization relates both to the extent of continental norm setting by the Organization of African Unity and later the African Union, as the principal agent responsible for ‘African solutions to African problems’, and to the degree to which this African International Organization enforces these norms through varied continental accountability mechanisms. In this specific context, the book considers the different modalities through which the idea of Africa shapes, is shaped by and is embedded in international law making and implementation.

Book Theory in Africa Africa in Theory

Download or read book Theory in Africa Africa in Theory written by Stephanie Wynne-Jones and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-06-19 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory in Africa, Africa in Theory explores the place of Africa in archaeological theory, and the place of theory in African archaeology. The centrality of Africa to global archaeological thinking is highlighted, with a particular focus on materiality and agency in contemporary interpretation. As a means to explore the nature of theory itself, the volume also addresses differences between how African models are used in western theoretical discourse and the use of that theory within Africa. Providing a key contribution to theoretical discourse through a focus on the context of theory-building, this volume explores how African modes of thought have shaped our approaches to a meaningful past outside of Africa. A timely intervention into archaeological thought, Theory in Africa, Africa in Theory deconstructs the conventional ways we approach the past, positioning the continent within a global theoretical discourse and blending Western and African scholarship. This volume will be a valuable resource for those interested in the archaeology of Africa, as well as providing fresh perspectives to those interested in archaeological theory more generally.

Book Cross Cultural Management

Download or read book Cross Cultural Management written by Jean-François Chanlat and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-07-24 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All cultures appear to share the belief that they do things ‘correctly’, while others, until proven otherwise, are assumed to be ignorant or barbaric. When people from different cultures work together and cannot take shared meanings for granted, managers face serious challenges. An individual’s parsing of an experience and its meaning may vary according to several cultural scales – national, professional, industrial and local. Awareness of cultural differences and the willingness to view them as a positive are therefore crucial assets. This edited textbook sets itself apart from existing cross-cultural management texts by highlighting to the reader the need to avoid both ethnocentrism and the belief in the universality of his or her own values and ways of thinking: the success of international negotiations and intercultural management depends on such openness and acceptance of real differences. It encourages the development of ‘nomadic intelligence’ and the creative use of a culture’s resources, according to a symbolic anthropology perspective. Through the essays and case studies in the chapters, readers will become aware of the intercultural dimension of business activities and better understand how they affect work. Cross-Cultural Management will help interested parties – students of business management, international relations and other disciplines, and business managers and other professionals – develop their ability to interact, take action and give direction in an intercultural context.
