PYRGIDIS and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LES ETUDES SCIENTIFIQUES, DEVELOPPEES DANS CETTE THESE ONT PERMIS DE METTRE AU POINT DES MODELES MATHEMATIQUES SIMULANT EN ALIGNEMENT ET EN COURBE, LE COMPORTEMENT TRANSVERSAL D'UN VEHICULE FERROVIAIRE MUNI DE BOGIES AYANT LES TECHNOLOGIES CI-APRES: BOGIES CONVENTIONNELS A ESSIEUX CLASSIQUES, BOGIES A ESSIEUX AUTO-ORIENTES, BOGIES A ESSIEUX A PSEUDOGLISSEMENT CONTROLE, BOGIES A ESSIEUX A ROUES INDEPENDANTES. A PARTIR DE CES MODELES ON A ETUDIE: A) LA STABILITE TRANSVERSALE DU VEHICULE DANS LE CAS D'UNE CIRCULATION A VITESSE CONSTANTE, SUR UNE VOIE EN ALIGNEMENT DE BONNE QUALITE SITUEE DANS UN PLAN HORIZONTAL. LE GUIDAGE DES ESSIEUX EST ASSURE UNIQUEMENT PAR LES FORCES DE PSEUDOGLISSEMENT ET LA GEOMETRIE DE CONTACT; B) LE COMPORTEMENT SEMI-STATIQUE DU VEHICULE DANS LE CAS D'UNE CIRCULATION A VITESSE CONSTANTE DANS UNE COURBE DE RAYON DONNE AVEC INSUFFISANCE DE DEVERS, ET; C) ON A COMPARE LES PERFORMANCES OBTENUES DANS LES TECHNOLOGIES CONSIDEREES. AVEC DES BOGIES A ESSIEUX A PSEUDOGLISSEMENT CONTROLE ET A ROUES INDEPENDANTES, ON PEUT OBTENIR: SANS DISPOSITIFS ANTI-LACET ET INDEPENDAMMENT DE L'USURE DES ROUES, DES VITESSES CRITIQUES EN ALIGNEMENT TRES ELEVEES SUPERIEURES A 500 KM/H, UNE REDUCTION DES EFFORTS DE GUIDAGE DANS LES COURBES DE FAIBLE RAYON, ET UN MEILLEUR COMPORTEMENT DES ESSIEUX DANS LES COURBES DE GRAND RAYON

Book Railway Management and Engineering

Download or read book Railway Management and Engineering written by V Profillidis and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a rapidly changing world, with increasing competition in all sectors of transportation, railways are in a period of restructuring their management and technology. New methods of organization are introduced, commercial and tariff policies change radically, a more entrepreneurial spirit is required. At the same time, new high-speed tracks are being constructed and old tracks are renewed, high-comfort rolling stock vehicles are being introduced, logistics and combined transport are being developed. Awareness of environmental issues and search for greater safety give to the railways a new role within the transportation system. Meanwhile, methods of analysis have significantly evolved, principally due to computer applications and new ways of thinking and approaching old problems. Therefore it becomes necessary to come up with a new scientific approach to tackle management and engineering aspects of railways, to understand in-depth the origins and inter-relationships of the various situations and phenomena and to suggest the appropriate methods and solutions to solve the various emerging problems. This book aims to cover the need for a new scientific approach for railways. It is written for railway managers, economists and engineers, consulting economists and engineers, students of schools of engineering, transportation and management. The book is divided into three distinct parts: Part A deals with the management of railways, Part B deals with the track and, Part C deals with rolling stock and environmental topics. Each chapter of the book contains the necessary theoretical analysis of the phenomena studied, the recommended solutions, applications, charts and design of the specific railway component. In this way, both the requirement for a theoretical analysis is met, and the need of the railway manager and engineer for tables, nomographs, regulations, etc. is satisfied. Railways in Europe have separated activities of infrastructure from those of operation. In other parts of the world, however, railways remain unified. The book addresses both situation. Railways present great differences in their technologies. Something may be valid for one such technology, but not for another. To overcome this problem, regulations of the International Union of Railways (UIC) as well as European Standardization (CEN) have been used to the greatest extent possible. Whenever a specific technology or method is presented, the limits of its application are clearly emphasized.

Book Fatigue in Railway Infrastructure

Download or read book Fatigue in Railway Infrastructure written by Mark Robinson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2009-08-20 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fatigue is a major issue affecting safety and quality of service in the railway industry. This book reviews key aspects of this important subject. It begins by providing an overview of the subject, discussing fatigue at the wheel-rail interface and in other aspects of infrastructure. It then considers fatigue in railway and tramway track, looking at causes of potential failure in such areas as rails and fixings as well as sleepers. It also reviews failure points in structures such as embankments and cuttings. The book analyses fatigue in railway bridges, looking in particular at masonry arch bridges as well as metal and concrete bridges. Two final chapters review safety and reliability issues affecting escalators and lifts.Fatigue in railway infrastructure is a helpful reference for those in the railway industry responsible for infrastructure maintenance as well as those researching this important subject. - Provides a concise review of fatigue in the railway infrastructure - Examines the causes of potential failure in rails, fixings and sleepers - Analyses fatigue in railway bridges including masonry arch, metal and concrete structures
