Download or read book Textbook of Wildlife Management written by S. K. Singh and published by Oxford and Ibh Publishers. This book was released on 2020-07-22 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wildlife management in Indian universities is being taught as a core subject of forestry science and even independently. Teaching and attention on the subject is progressing day-by-day. It is very essential to understand the role played by the wild animals, which unfortunately has come to an alarming stage. Wild animals are a part and parcel of the ecosystem as a natural renewable resource, maintaining foodchains, keeping ecobalance and providing hygienic conditions for the existence of all organisms including humans. Making the general mass of the country concious of this fact is an essential time demand so that wild animals may be conserved and propagated scientifically and judiciously throughout the country up to the optimum-level as well as getting revenue by them. This book makes an important contribution to the understanding of wildlife and its management. This is the thoroughly revised, updated and enlarged edition of the book which covers almost all parts of course-curricula for the both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Indian universities in the field of wildlife management. The text has been written in a simple and lucid language so that the reader can grasp the matter easily and succinctly.

Download or read book Concepts in Wildlife Management 3rd Revised and Enlarged Edn written by B.B. Hosetti and published by . This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: India is the seventh largest country and Asia's second most populous country with an area of 3, 387, 263 km-2. It Possesses diverse climatic regions and habitats. Though India became independent six decades ago, still we are unable to document and manage our wildlife resources. Presently most of the literature on wildlife is avilable in the form of few books and monogaphs which are mainly related to European and African wild life. Good number of workers are involved in the study of wildlife of India, and these persons work for their specific research projects, and it is degree oriented, many time they do not visit field or they rely on secondary data or only depend on their project fellows information. Such studies will not give true picture about the ground reality, specially it is true about studies on Avifauna. Presently there are six Institutes in India which offer M Sc in wild life. Most of these students suffer from non avilability of books and relevant information. Now a days study on wild life has been tagged with eco-toruism concept, which become an attractive tool to invite tourists and hence to earn income. An attempt is made in this book to provide all the important information on wildlife. In addition to those the chapters of II edition, the III edition has been revised and four new chapters are incorporated. This book is a rare source of wide information on wild resources. This title embodies 25 chapters on various aspects of wild life of India. Chapter first, begins with the knowledge on Wildlife Conservation and management. It was followed by Endangered flora and fauna; Extinction of organisms; Special conservation schemas for critically endangered species; Management of range lands; Wildlife reserves; Zoos and parks; Wetland birds; Asian water fowls census; Ramsar wetlands; Birds migration; Biodiversity; Theories of biodiversity; Zoo geography; Wildlife diseases; Remote sensing and wildlife; Wildlife crimes; protection act 1972; Protection schedules; Wildlife crimes; Indian NGO's; National and State plant, animal and flower; and this book closes by an important topic on Environmental impect assessments and waste auditing. This edition is prepared to cater the needs of all the graduates and post graduates courses of Indian universities, Forest officials, NGO's and wildlife lovers as well. if this book is able to create interest and awareness to some extent among common public about wild resources, then I fell my efforts have started gaining dividends.

Download or read book Wildlife Study Design written by Michael L. Morrison and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-05-25 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We developed the first edition of this book because we perceived a need for a compilation on study design with application to studies of the ecology, conser- tion, and management of wildlife. We felt that the need for coverage of study design in one source was strong, and although a few books and monographs existed on some of the topics that we covered, no single work attempted to synthesize the many facets of wildlife study design. We decided to develop this second edition because our original goal – synthesis of study design – remains strong, and because we each gathered a substantial body of new material with which we could update and expand each chapter. Several of us also used the first edition as the basis for workshops and graduate teaching, which provided us with many valuable suggestions from readers on how to improve the text. In particular, Morrison received a detailed review from the graduate s- dents in his “Wildlife Study Design” course at Texas A&M University. We also paid heed to the reviews of the first edition that appeared in the literature.

Download or read book Wildlife Law Second Edition written by Eric T. Freyfogle and published by Island Press. This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wildlife is an important and cherished element of our natural heritage in the United States. But state and federal laws governing the ways we interact with wildlife can be complex to interpret and apply. Ten years ago, Wildlife Law: A Primer was the first book to lucidly explain wildlife law for readers with little or no legal training who needed to understand its intricacies. Today, navigating this legal terrain is trickier than ever as habitat for wildlife shrinks, technology gives us new ways to seek out wildlife, and unwanted human-wildlife interactions occur more frequently, sometimes with alarming and tragic outcomes. This revised and expanded second edition retains key sections from the first edition, describing basic legal concepts while offering important updates that address recent legal topics. New chapters cover timely issues such as private wildlife reserves and game ranches, and the increased prominence of nuisance species as well as an expanded discussion of the Endangered Species Act, now more than 40 years old. Chapter sidebars showcase pertinent legal cases illustrating real-world application of the legal concepts covered in the main text. Accessibly written, this is an essential, groundbreaking reference for professors and students in natural resource and wildlife programs, land owners, and wildlife professionals.
